This seems to be a VERY COMMON issue with the 300hp & 250hp HPDI. If you do a search you'll see thread after thread of Cylinder #2 Piston failures. Its crazy. Seems like a manufacturing defect to me. HPDI's are great engines.

I'm by no means experienced with these engines but I would start with a compression test and fuel injector test. Both simple tests, compression test will make sure there are no major discrepancies with your pistons, rings and cylinder bore. Fuel injector health to make sure they are providing adequate fueling. If those check out, a leak down test will give you more thorough understanding of the health of your cylinder bores and rings. With these engines, there are these "magic" filters that need to be replaced every so often within the oil pump assembly and failure to do so can cause much larger issues. I think this should get you headed in the right direction but there are a significant amount of electronics that can fail too that would need to be diagnosed with a more research. Biggest thing I would recommend is to not keep running the engine until you get it sorted because lean fuel condition can quickly cause detonation leading to catastrophic failure. I hope you can get it sorted quickly👍

I've only watched a bit of that video, and do agree with the principle... But... Drums and discs used to be turned using a drawbar to pull them up against a faceplate (or even a chuck face, with the jaws removed) Let's face it, most of us used an adjustable back stop mounted in the headstock spindle to produce consistent length parts (didn't we?) so... extending the screw through the spindle far enough to pass through the disc mounting flange and, with a nut and thick washer, pull the disc up tight enough to drive it using friction's easy, and... you don't have the tailstock in the way of your offset compound slide. I know why the compound's offset, we've all had to do it... But... while machining both faces without resetting guarantees parallelism of both friction faces, pushing or pulling the disc's mounting face against a chuck or faceplate face, turning the accessible face, then reversing ( pushing or pulling the newly turned face against the chuck or faceplate face) allows you to move the saddle (carriage in US parlance) out of the way easily, and allow easy loading and unloading. and still guarantees parallelism, assuming the faceplate / chuck face runs true... Drums need to be centralised on a spigot, though, just as they are mounted on a half shaft or stub axle. I remember guys mounting brake drums in four jaws, and clocking them with the clock finger on the worn friction surface... And distorting the drum's shape with the force applied by the jaws... and the customer experiencing flutter at the pedal... Surprising, eh? Not! When I say "customer" it was usually a mate who needed a favour, paid in beer...Not a commercial, conventional, paying customer. When you're fitting in a favour for a mate into production work, you've just got to do it quickly and simply. I'd not, for instance, offset my compound slide unnecessarily, and oblige myself to clock it true again... Drawbars rule! There was a time we'd use the vertical spindle ring grinder for the task... Magnetically clamp the disc mounting face (cleaned up) to the magnetic chuck face, grind the inboard friction face, invert and repeat. It had the benefit of removing the minimum of material from the disc, but was slow, though it could be left unattended to remove a pre programmed amount... (pre programmed? Well, we set a stop...)

I think they're relatively precise. The thing is they're as precise as a 30 dollar pair are it's more so about how long they will hold up. I find the biggest difference is that they will get sloppy quickly if you use them often.

If you have a valve seat guide machine, you can just cut it right out, just like a cylinder liner in a block. There's a reason why you didn't show us that part.
