    14:16 I've been paying BC carbon tax since 2008, is it not fair to say that if carbon tax doesn't affect climate change, then there is no reason to collect it? I chuckle with these climate zealots that think somehow a country that contributes less than 2% of the world's emissions can somehow positively impact climate change worldwide, and that hampering everyone within the borders of BC is somehow a benefit to the world while China and India pollute on a massive scale.

    When I was poor, the GST/carbon tax/etc. cheques were a nice bonus towards that month's expenses. There is no rebate that makes an unsustainable wage sustainable.

    I have found everything he said to make sense. Except the approach to drug treatment. Unfortunately both parties drop the ball on this. There are so many reasons that people become addicted to drugs, and so many reasons why that drug use changes. It is COMPLEX and there needs to be a full spectrum of interventions for people at different stages of the addiction. They all need to be evidence based. Unfortunately both sides of the political spectrum are ideological based in their approach. Both sides have failed because of this. Unfortunately Rustad is unfamiliar with the current state of mental health and addictions treatment. Apprehending everyone who OD's under the mental health act is materially impossible, and would clog up every psych unit and drug treatment facility in the province. The treatment substance users get on psych units, and in the health care system is abysmal. They are treated worse than garbage. You are just adding more trauma to an already deeply traumatized person by apprehending them. He needs to get a much closer look at these systems how they are in reality today.

    Excellent interview. Questions were to the point and issues were not, “skirted, deflected, dodged” just answered. On the issue of mandatory recovery for people who have over dosed, I wish this was in place several years ago. My youngest sister had an addiction problem and was taking up valuable bed space, in emergency, on a regular basis. I asked the nurse whether we could get her into treatment and she informed me that all they can do is offer help once she was detoxed but it was up to her. She might still be alive today if it was mandatory as she obviously couldn’t make a rational decision at that point in her life.

    Didn’t this guy get kicked out of the liberal party for being unelectable? Alberta seems to have generally gotten worse all around “ex” oil lobbyist, Danielle smith and her regressive ideology from a Conservative Party that can’t keep a leader through a full term, so I guess BC might get the male version? Sure hope not. Don’t like Eby, but this guys a clown that I hope we never get to see the repercussions of. ANY politician buddying up with admitted scam news reporter tucker Carlson has no place being a leader in Canada. The divisive rhetoric is to take the attention away from the real corruption of all government and the rich staying rich at all costs. It’s sad how easily it gets eaten up and we all get dumber for it and lack/too lazy to use basic critical thinking :( Russia won’t stop their pro right propaganda and if that alone isn’t enough to not vote conservative please just try to remember empathy instead of anger at a pronoun or some other dividing topic thing that has 0 impact on your day to day life. Are we as dumb as our friends to the south that elected a lifelong grifting, non bill paying, bankrupt prone, had to be put on an allowance by a bank when they would still lend him money b/c he was so bad with it, nepotist, Russian owned,convicted felon, rapist? Not saying Rustad is trump, but anti-science/vax shit is just absurd. Everything is corrupt, but it’s not hard to learn and research valid sourced information with fact checking. Type “Tips to avoid misinformation” or something. Confirmation bias is something we all do, but social media is a trove of garbage info taken for fact much too easily with the biases we all have. Just try to get legit information. If you’re rich and are cool with human suffering you’ll probably be better off voting conservative, or if you’re just so insecure about all humans having the same rights to be called what they fucking want vote con. I don’t agree with every “woke” (fuck I hate that term) thing, but it literally has so little to do with my well being I’d rather point the finger at all government and the lobbyists pulling their strings then go on in an endless cycle of anger at the each other the powers that be pull ours towards. I understand times are hard and people need to direct their anger somewhere, but things can and are almost certainly going to get worse without intervention not currently capable of our race with the greed of the ultra rich that the entire world economy is structured heavily in greed and corruption friendly less the odd scale goat. We’re nearing the endgame zeitgeist with capitalism and everything that caused the last crash in overdrive and possibly the “last” and definitely worst recession of our lifetime a few more billionaires underground bunkers being built away. Should be fun 😅

    Unfortunately overdoses are NOT RARE. In DTES mant addicts have overdosed NUMEROUS TIMES and in general overdose is COMMON now. The TREATMENT MODELS NEED TO CHANGE. THE CURRENT MODELS HAVE DISMAL RECORDS. They're treated like children and have no privacy or decent housing . We NEED RECOVERY LIVING COMMUNITIES. As is recovering people are FORCED TO LIVE SURROUNDED BY HARD USE AND ADDICTION SHOVED IN THEIR FACE CONSTANTLY EVERYWHERE. ITS ANTI HUMAN. I'm a senior professional with ALL KINDS of experience. MARK MY WORDS.

    Remember, the landbase is a large part of the costs in BC. It's 95% held by the government, and only 5% available to be held by Canadians and BC'ERS. I know real estate players who laugh about this.

  • @proudcanadian1837
    @proudcanadian1837 День тому

    Great interview and stands for BC'ERS, it seems. I'd like to see a clear bridge to bringing all Canadians and BC'ERS together by ending things like UNDRIP and pushing the 200 native groups from reserve status to freehold land status in the province under village or township status. This would end land claims if setup, free up BC for BCERS of all stripes, give the native communities to build up their communities and access their lands the same as any and all others, and build up their local culture and communities. I've been watching the NDP push the opposite of this over the years, more division, and greater gaps between these communities and the balance of BC'ERS. If this can be resolved as noted, obviously, more to it, it would bring a more united BC for all. Yes? No?

    Your website for a Party should be much better. You do not have links to individual members and their ridings. Your interview here is balanced, but you need to address what you could do for what your party would do to get communities to adjust, getting rid of issues not allowing housing or different housing, such as tiny homes or villages. It's important to consider how you handle the bureaucracies, making it easier to build viable communities and businesses, as this will shape the future of our communities.

As in her report on the emissions ratio of Canada, the problem of India not able to attain natural gas from Canada, and therefore stuck on wood and animal dung, contributing ENORMOUS emissions, and the fact the Trudeau, is quoted, in stating that Canada’s could be totally shut down, not making a dint of difference in carbon pollution?

    John Rustad is such a liar. He is really bad for the people of BC . He believes climate change is not real. He wants to put in private healthcare clinics that would rob our hospitals of our doctors that would deprive BC citizens. We have a surplus of power in our province and a new dam on the way. We sell power to America, Alberta and the Yukon and made over a billion dollars. We don't need nuclear power , that is the most expensive. He wants to dismantle everything we gained in our province. I wish he would move to Alberta he is more in tune with their politics. He was fired from the BC United party because he is too radical .He must be stopped. He is another Trumper.
