Recently, I listened to all of Prince’s albums in chronological order and was amazed at just how creative he was right until his very last album. However, the mammoth task of listening to all 39 albums in Prince’s discography was made much harder when I hit The Gold Experience, which was released in 1995. I got hooked on this album and found it hard to move on to the next. There are some great ...

Heard them for the first time in 1970 , first album was ok but when Pilgrimage came along rhen Argus well I was blown away, there was nothing to compare at the time. Still listen to those 2 albums to this day. Saw them live in 1973 but the lineup had changed so no Ted Turner, still a great concert 🤘
6:35 damn would love to hear that part live. it is so good
I agree with you. Joni is an absolute gem. Beautiful, haunting, poetic writing, heartfelt performances. Outstanding and perfect ❤
But seriously, I really liked the album after I got over the shock. The tour was pretty excruciating. Cheers!
Its an album i can enjoy from time to time but it doesn't thrill me.
Don't Cry
Their debut album is one of my favourite albums of all time, i love both the 76 version and 88 version
Great video, great album. Cheers !
Thanks for listening
Lemmy's last album with Hawkwind as he was fired! Spacerock. Check out 'In Search Of Space' 2nd album, Space Ritual (a live album, they were at their peak on this) also 'Quark, Strangeness And Charm, and Levitation album. Dave Brock played bass on Opa-Loka.
I'd love to see her live.
Great insight from you about a really fantastic band...
Thanks!
This is their 2nd album. Their first is the excellent spooky blues disc WHITES OFF EARTH NOW.
I can't believe after all these years, I thought the Trinity Sessions was their first album. I am looking forward now to listening to WHITES OFF EARTH NOW
Ease come back to the US!!!!
Maybe Kansas be a progressive rock band (but i´m not american)
I have never heard of Kansas, so I must check them out.
omg I can't believe she sang let's get lost, lilies and wilderness
Never thought id see this mix but both song and singer are wonderful. Brightened my day ❤❤
its a cool interpretation
The ringing bells
I saw them in 1976 and I was captivated
they were some of the most mesmerising concerts I'd been to.
Its spacerock. Live chronicles is one of their best. PXR5 and Quark strangeness and charm are solid listens.
I will take a listen when I get some time - I made a video about Quark strangeness and charm - that's a really odd album
Chili as Ike Turner
Jarvis really should have done this wearing a leather mini skirt
Cocker is great.
This is great, but I don’t understand why he changed the tenses of the lyrics in each verse. It messed up the flow and cadence of the song.
In the original version, the singer is trapped in the situation, wishing for changes. In this version, the singer reflects on the past - they did make a million dollars and have a family - but the exploitation of others continues. - thanks for pointing this out - I hadn't noticed.
he still doesn't know their names
❤❤❤❤❤❤ fantastic 😊😊was a huge fan!!👏👏👏
Thank you so much 😀
Awful
Awfully good.
You dont get Jarvis' sense of humour
Bless up🙏 such amazing aura......Love from Zambia
wow - thanks for watching - do you have any music to recommend
Thanks for sharing
My pleasure
@@missedmusic101 the guitar blast at the start is quite jarring
Gosh I LOVE JC, he is so charismatic and hypnotizing! And the pack Chilly & JC is superb 👏 Was so lucky to discover Chilly at a JC concert with Pulp +25 years ago! 😎
Couldn't agree more!
Hardly lol tried to put mj off looked like a twot no talent
I wanna see that shimmy
Tenth! 😂😂😂
I WANTED to say when it s not your language i think you can understand but not feeling the strong and the deep of the beauty because he is so deep in the soul he is enormous phenomenal sorry for my english i didn know english love brel !!
Thank you for your comment. I am not sure many English speakers know Brel. But his songs were interpreted by Scott Walker and David Bowie. The English version of the track Le Moribund (Seasons in the Sun) was also a big hit in the 70's.
if you don t understand you loose a lot
even with the French I have I know I am missing a lot
Bloody Beautiful, and that dancing hand, wow
Those …are spirit fingers…
JC fingers signature move , love it!
Qué buenoooo! A Tina Turner le encantaría ❤
Espectacular!
Don't think so
Amo esta muller. Marabilla absoluta.
I was there, it was astonishing!
I first heard the Enid on the Radio 1 Friday rock show when Tommy Vance played a session by them. I was totally blown away. Fand has to be my favourite.
Tommy Vance takes me back!
In trst we trust
He was so Belgian and proud of it. Your remark that he adopted france is wrong. As much as the french would want it. He translated so many songs in Flemish and wrote songs about west flanders saying it was his country his flat country.
I came across his music when I moved to France, so I was maybe indoctrinated :). I did read, though, that he had a love/hate relationship with Belgium. I remember a writer saying that Le Plat Pays could bring an audience to tears, but he was cooed off stage when singing les flamandes.
He didn't like the bourgeoisie but his heritage is from that. His great great-grandfather was mayor of Zandvoorde in West Flanders and the only language they spoke was French like every higher up people and that's why he sang in French . His father left the village to live in Brussels .
As someone with dual French and British nationality I have to disagree with you on the matter of 'Ne me quitte pas' being in any way at all misogynistic. That said a few of Brels' songs do demonstrate such, most notably 'Les filles et les chiens' ( 'Girls and dogs') and 'Les Biches' ('Doe's' - as in female deers). I hope that you don't view this as a negative comment. As a fan I am glad that you are bringing Brel to a wider public.
Thanks you for watching. Your comments are very interesting. It was a friend at the time who said the song was misonginst, and I remember we had an argument because, for me, it was this amazing love song. I don't know how the song would be felt from a woman's perspective. There is a theory of misogyny that states, "Men's dependence on women is what fuels benevolently sexist attitudes, leading to idolisation and the placing of women on a pedestal.' It is this idolisation my friend was referring to - something that is impossible to live up to. Also, in this song and Mathilde, the singer is destroyed by a woman. For me, my thinking about the songs is a little academic because I love the songs so much regardless.
@missedmusic101 , I feel impelled to say that idolisation is not misogyny. Both men and women may idolise and incorrectly - though without replacing God with a false idol the person concerned may be excellent and amazing. Depression and soul destroying heartbreak are common to both men and women if the relationship one dreamt of fails.
@@thomasdonau5140 yes very fair point
So you can't bother to learn how to pronounce "Les Marquises" even though he sings it all through the song? Shame! Some kind of Brel fan you are! Oh, that's right-you're British. (that was sarcasm).
His Return to Forever stuff was his peak.
I am not sure I have hears those early albums. I have always been impressed by his music and managed to see him live a few times which was great.
Just after my dad died I moved to Cardiff. There was a local cafe with a jukebox. I put on For Free by Joni and I have been a fan ever since. For me the best singer songwriter of my lifetime including Dylan and Waits.
yes, I completley agre with you. I think she is still underrated. I have never got into Dylan he doesnt seem to connect with me the same way Joni Mitchel does.
@@missedmusic101 Don't get me wrong I love lots of Dylan stuff and Tom Waits is lyrically a bloody genius. Take the words to Burma Shave for instance, but Joni turned more jazz like and my musical tastes followed hers.
I love this album so much. It’s great stuff. I saw them play at reading 95, then about ten years ago. Really cool band.
thanks for watching - i hear they are currently recording a new album
@@missedmusic101 good to hear ! Thanks for the info🫡
I have been a fan if the Enid since their Something Wicked This Way Comes album came out. And I finally for to see them play lie this last week 13th Oct 2024. Well worth waiting for. Though, I first became aware of Robert John Godfrey via Barclay Kames Harvest's Mockingbird which he orchestrated.
thanks for watching - Something Wicked This Way Comes was the first Enid album I bought - I think I bought it at the gig and had signed, if I remember correctly.
I have an original vinyl version of this.
thanks for watching. Does vinyl sound different? I'd love to buy a turntable, but don't have the room for one.
@@missedmusic101 oh yeah! It's a big sound, not compressed.
Hello guy! Froggy on chanel. What a good taste for having chosen these three songs from this wonderful and unfortunately last album.I should have done the same . Orly and Les Marquises are so poetic and sad, two masterpieces; incredible lyrics and music.I want to thank you for your "hommage" for this great great singer sincerely he deserved it.I don't know if you'll receive my message but i send you my kind regards from South France.
Thanks for watching. I lived in Toulouse for 13 years and arrived without speaking a word of France. I am so grateful to have learnt the language just to be able to appreciate these songs, although I probably still miss out on some of the nuances. While good, I think the English version of Ne me quitte pas doesn't come close to the French version.
I real appreciate you reply so quick to my message. The Brel's lyrics of " Ne me quitte pas" are very hard to translate. Poetry is very special if you translate you fail to give the good meaning, sometimes you'd rather to receive the words and accept the non understanding of them to put your own feelings and sensibilty they give to you. Anyway continue to listen to J.Brel works ,there are a lot of very good songs, sad, sarcastic as you said, funny sometimes. A lot of other french singers deserve your attention with the same level of artistery, for example G Brassens.......
I bought this box earlier this year. I’m so glad Box 4 is ready! I have ordered it. It will be really exciting What Years Box 5 and six cover, not to mention seven which will probably be the final one. My guess is the next one is 81 to 89 six 90-99, Seven 2000-2025. Something like that. I love 80s Joni and I love 90s Joni As well. Either Dylan Mitchell or Neil Young would be my one artist to listen to if I had to choose one. Being without Joni Mitchell would be difficult.
Thanks for watching. I found the '80s albums less compelling thanin the 70s, but still very inte those released resting. I liked how the songs became more political.
Definitely in my top 5 Hawkwind albums. Driven along by Bob Calvert’s genius. One band you should consider featuring is Cardiacs and start with their album The Seaside.
Thanks for the suggestion. I have never heard of them, and I will check them out.
You will not regret diving down Cardiacs wormhole!!!!
I love Eartheater so much. She is definitely an artist that you need to listen to many times before you understand her music. I had mixed feelings about this album, cause i feel like some songs didn’t really fit in this album, but i still liked it nonetheless. My favourite album of her is Phoenix: Flames are Dew Upon My Skin, her voice is so powerful on this one and the acoustic guitar is so good. You might wanna check it out
Thanks for watching. It was my partner that introduced me to the eartheater. The music is really intriguing, and the more I listen, the more I'm being drawn in. I will definitely get around to listening to your suggestion.
Never been high in my life and listened to Hawkwind for most of it. If it aint live then stick on some headphones and whack up the volume. Thats all it needs
Thanks for watching. The comment i made on the video was a little tongue in cheek. 😀
