Interestingly I never realized it was pink hair until years later when the internet became a thing and people started asking about it. CRT blurriness which you mention combined with humans not usually paying a lot of attention to small details probably caused a lot of brains to gloss over it and assume it was blonde or something else all together.

U want hell, goto level 9 second quest and see if your "theres usually a blue bubble nearby" theory hold up. I remember my first time in late 80s fetting to ganon in second quest with no sword cuz of the red bubbles and i could backtrack cuz your locked in with ganon. Well after letting my full 16 hearts go to 1 i used my potion because i realized i was doomed but then once i finished drinking it link started using his sword again. Turns out no one ever published or saud anything other than u need a blue bubble. Turns out using a position, topping off your hearts by fairy, or pausing the game while a red bubble makes you flash all are ways to restore your sword. I really was the hero cuz that was the day ganon died forever.... it's still talked about in the halls of Philips elementary school halls in Denver to this day. Theres a zelda 2 say what aaaarghhh ganon had returned for revenge

That is not the reason. It has to do with the color pallette limitations of the game.

Actually, could it be a color blindness issue? Don’t some people with red-green color blindness see green as more of a brown? Maybe that would have made link’s clothes blend in too much with him
