Full IDM / Glitch album generated by AI. Someone had to do an Artificial Intelligence spin off, using AI only at some point. The original Artificial intelligence series was released on Warp Records. Both compilations have been a huge influence on my musical interest. However, Superficial Intelligence III lacks human touch. Will this cheap toy synth IDM? Casio Casiotone MT-240
Yeah i think the reason for the lack of tempo changes in electronic music is definitely because of DJing. Autechre did a little bit of that back in the day, like on confield
Love hearing Ben talk about music making and process
Great discussion!
❤ A very nice overview.
Ben comes across as such a stand-up guy (and an excellent communicator). Thanks for sharing this
will the project file work with version 11
Yes, that project was made pre Ableton 12 release
You have made us re-think about AI MUSIC , great video ! . We enjoyed the album too.
Ct is for cents
The first part got me thinking "Ah yes, been there in logic" but then seeing how to make "garble" loops yourself and how to chop them back up really helped me understand the genius behind not just giving way to chaos but shaping it and making it work for you. Very pleasant to see it all come together!
Behringer 2600 and midi
Another brilliant video!
Thank you very much
Super helpful! Thank you
thank u, so helpful
Great demo. I love FM8 but don’t program my own sounds much. There’s just so many good presets, plus FM8 reads DX7 sysex files, which I have 200+ more presets (you can download for free). I have an old DX7 in my studio, but never use it.
Very inspiring! Thank you :)
I dislike how scientific modular enters into the realms of becoming. Your non-scientific examples makes modular look fun and easier to understand. Modular companies ought to simplify their modules and not complicate them.
Wibbly wobbleys, love it :)
This is fantastic. Thanks.
Exactly what i search, thanks
Really enjoying listening to this interview but unsure whether you are aware of all the adverts spoiling it! I’m only 9 mins in and there have been two wedged in (on top of the one before the interview starts)
Ned Rush makes the world a better place.
I have TextAloud a tts program , it works fine , tts to .mp3. But of course the actual speech has "stress and intonation creation" . I dont want any prosody . I just want a monotone output , ie. one frequency . It sounds very robot-ish . Which is exactly what I want . Monotone , only one frequency out . Perhaps there is an ancient tts that does that . Once I have a monotone voice .mp3 , perhaps I can change that 1 frequency to 420 Hz. So I am asking "can Audacity change the frequency to one I want" . Thanks for your Help... * i want a tts monotone robot-voice output freeware or online
Do you have any insight on how to use this in pro tools? It doesn't show as a plugin after I have downloaded it.
Im afraid I don't, i have never used protools
Great video. I’ve been trying to find a short, concise explanation. And here we are
How exactly do you get or load the traditional e-piano sound from the 80s? None of the 32 presets seem to be the correct one.
Not sur, i have never looked for it. I am sure it must be on one of the virtual cads provided. I am sure someone must have a sysex dump of all the original dx7 patches to download for free
@@TheFellowPassenger thanks. Any thoughts on where i would start looking to find it?
Just did a quick Google and found this. Sounds like what you are looking for. Not tried it yamahablackboxes.com/collection/yamaha-dx7-synthesizer/patches/
0:22 impeccable pronunciation, I'd think you were Swedish -- but it means waterfall or rapid(s), not stream.
I am Swedish 😄
@@TheFellowPassenger Lool, after listening a bit more I did think your accent sounded vaguely Swedish, but I heard "I think that's how it's meant to be pronounced" as being about the word itself and not just the company. Norwegian fella here correcting Swedes on their Swedish 🤣 sorry altså.
Ik hou van je, Danny.
Or just get a digitakt or some tracker.
Please elaborate
Or just don’t.
A pitch tracker?
Can I use this with Cubase?????? Please say yes!??
I would have thought you totally could use Dexed with a TX7 in Cubase, not tried it I see no reason why it wouldn't work
An easier way to do it is using a comb filter that has key tracking, and sending an impulse or noise blast to it. Also fors had a really cute free karpluss strong m4l device. The device you made sounds cool and unique tho
wow, this was very useful. thank you so much!
Glad it was helpful!
Isn't Cycles more capable than Opal?
They are slightly different. For example, Cycles offers more "Engines" but Opal offers far more control over each of its "engines". I find I can get a much bigger variety of sounds from Opal, especially if I run each engine stand alone rather than through Opals own sequencer. As this gives you access to modulate more parameters using Max4Live devices.
can I find this in your patreon?
Yes, however, since that video Ableton has developed "Shaper MIDI" which does the same thing. Check your MIDI Effects, Modulators or Max for Live section, depending on which version of Ableton you are on.
Prob it's Live version 11 or 12 that you use, right? I don't have Pitch & Modulation in my list. Luckely i purchased Valhalla Shimmer and Room for 80 euros. Upgrading to Live version 11 price is 109 and 379 euro to version 12. So, I guess I'm smarter. Live 10 is perfect enough tho. To figure it all out takes a long time anyway. I wanna produce music, right. But i must tell, Valhalla sounds better combining with Room and Replika from Arturia. As well I have a Strymon BigSky so it's all fine But Thx for the review, m8 🍻
Can we modulate the ratio (that pitch thing) in each of their envelopes?
Stage 2 on the envelopes still confuses the hell out of me
Hi! How do I automate volume and switching on/off of individual voices without splitting it to different audio channels?
Very helpful! Best explanation on UA-cam 🙂👍
What was the intro video when you were intelroducing
It is this video from Juha's channel ua-cam.com/video/MPRHwbQYvFM/v-deo.htmlsi=elL7T7GOWqkm74D9
I actually think the gate in and trigger in "problem" makes perfect sense. They are two different things. One is a momentary thing, the other is a held thing. Your triggered note won't be held if there is no gate voltage. And a gate voltage won't affect anything until the note is triggered. The simple solution is just to plug into the jack to the left of those (where S/H Clock is hardwired) and flip the switch down. I just noticed at least one other has pointed this out.
People assume that sound is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from anon-linear, non-subjective viewpoint it’s more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly, soundy-woundy… stuff iykyk
I own a DX7 Synthesizer 😊
putting this on while making some coffee, i know its gonna be great :D congrats juha mate
Brilliant
thank you TFP and thank you Juha, very very good content here!
Cool stuff, and funny how much things we do (and think) in the same way. Thanks for this Juha and Fellow Passenger very inspiring.
Fascinating... Thank you for this
Great content. Thanks!
...and THAT'S why you need an oscilloscope to design sounds for FM (or VPM) synthesis.
LEGOWELT o yeah!
