I'M GOING TO WORLDS! PQ Finalist Tourney Report | Star Wars Unlimited
This past Saturday I managed to make the finals of the PQ in Ankeny, IA! My opponent had already won a PQ previously, meaning the day 1 bye at the Galactic Championship was passed down to the other finalist... me! I'm very grateful an consider myself especially lucky, but I like to think there was at least a little bit of skill involved getting to the finals, so I hope you enjoy this tourney recap!

Quinlan Tarkintown is BUSTED! | Star Wars Unlimited

Welcome back! Today I wanted to talk to you about my favorite deck from Twilight of the Republic so far, Quinlan Tarkintown! I think this deck is a little underexplored right now, and personally has a lot of my favorite cards. Plus, I share a last name with the leader, so how could I not! (Also note cause I'm paranoid and overanalyze my speech lol, I am a recent member of the Bothan Network tea...

DECKBUILDING THEORY - "Glue" vs "Spike" Cards | Star Wars Unlimited
Переглядів 1 тис.5 місяців тому
I've been tinkering with a lot of decks lately, including my trusty Palpatine Green list, and in testing the deck I found myself sideboarding the same card in pretty much every game. I wondered if it should be in the main deck at that point but still think it is correct to be in the sideboard. However, that got me thinking about how I deckbuild and evaluate cards, and that is what I'm here to t...

This was a piece I was supposed to play at my senior recital this year, but obviously with everything that is going on that didn't happen. This piece means a lot to me, as it was the first piece I started learning for my recital, and the more I dug into it the more layers I uncovered. While it isn't the most technically challenging piece, it really tested me as a performer, trying to convey an ...
I got 2nd at a PQ yesterday with almost exactly this list. Wanted to test and change many things, but I think almost any change would’ve made the list worse. The only change I made, which I still stand by, is 1 grogu for 1 R2 (set 3), because it makes the sideboard map better (you still get 10 solid 2-drops in matchups where you take out grogus) The only card I’m still unsure about is waylay. Open fire might be better than the 2 waylays in the side, but lurking tie and both 6costs ships that jango uses scare the shit out of me.
I've played this 60+ times and it's so fun..not a clear meta winner but always close and super fun
Hey man! Great video!! With the rise of Villany-Green decks (Bossk Green and Qira Green, mainly) Do you have any tips for those mus? Im kinda struggling right now against them. Thanks a lot!!
@@jaimelloretgarcia2878 discard is super important into them to nab the ramp or the OB - I'll forgo playing units early (especially against bossk cause the bounties) in order to discard their hand
I ran a rebels package Quinlan at last week’s weekly play, and it was super competitive. Games I lost felt like user error, since it was the first time playing it. Qi’ra was a rock star. It throws such an obnoxious wrench in your opponent’s plans. She’ll be a mainstay in yellow hero decks for a while I think.
Go go Vos fam! Listen to mickeyD folks he is an ace!
The other Judge was Zach by the way. You played exceptionally well. I'm proud of you.
winner in our hearts
Good video Thank You for sharing your Insights. Your deck is what I have been using this set!
Congratulations
Great video! What do you recommend for the mirror? I'm getting into this deck and imagine I'll see lots of it with it doing so well
@danielkeim8558 the mirror is kinda miserable 😅 but play into the discard and smuggle aspects of the deck. You both attack each other's hands early so tech is an all star in the mirror too
Grats! We were cheering you on from SCG Atlanta.
@@georgethehulk8173 Thank you! Couldn't have done it without the Bothan Network
Thanks for explaining pillage. I was never sure what matchup to play into
Great video!!
@@BlondeSabine Thank you! Can't wait to get the list on a Blonde Sabine stream haha
@@MickeydSWU SOON! yes, please
Great run Mack! Can’t wait to see you at worlds! Keep making great content. The third judge was Zach from the Quad Cities.
@DJ_Death_Star Thank you! I'm awful with names but will try to remember that!
Great video ! Also enjoyed the masterclass a lot
@@amc6354 Thanks! The masterclass was a ton of fun, Loopee and Matty are great people
You play any bossk blue
@TruongMtgArenaHearthstone03 not at the tourney but from my practice I like the matchup!
Hi ! I’m a french Vos player and your content is absolutely priceless to learn and improve with this leader. So many thanks and gg for the finale !
@27dowdow glad it's been helpful!
How did you do at the PQ?
@@juanbonilla1006 uploading a video about that now!
Great video! Fun to listen to you and your thinking! Thanks!
The discord link seems dead in description, if anyone can reshare please :)
@@CaptainKiwiii discord.gg/bothannetwork here you go!
@@MickeydSWU Thanks!
Just need to know how this does against Bossk Blue lol
Great video! I'm definitely curious about the new Sabine and maybe the Ahsoka unit instead of Ezra but I'm sure that's a bad idea 😅
Why not the "Now there are two of them" card?
I tried it initially, and when it worked it was really powerful. However, I just found it to inconsistent, and the deck building cost made it so I couldnt play some of the vards I wanted to like red 3
Great Video!
Thanks for the video. Going to try this out next at weekly
Been jamming this deck lately! Won a win a box and another local tournament with it. What makes you say that han1 yellow is favorable? I’m struggling with that matchup but maybe the difference is grogu because that’s the only card I’m not running here.
@@ajrdesign han 1 can struggle with discard and hand disruption, which this deck has a lot of. Also, saving tarkintown for Tech/DJ to stop them from stealing a resource is pretty important. And grogu does help hold the han flip hostage a bit. Hope this helps!
At this point, I'm like 7-0 with Sabine ECL against Quinlan Tarking so it's not that busted ;)
Is there a reason you don't link the deck and also hide the QR code to it? Like why?
@zvxteflon Normally I'm pretty public with my lists but I have a tournament in about 10 days and this is almost certainly the deck I'm going to bring to PQ's, so I wanna be a little more protective with any future changes I make. However, feel free to dm me and I can share the list! And I plan on making it public after my first PQ
Han Solo unit is still a favorite.
Good video I got hit by this deck yesterday and today so learning its tricks Thank You
Why waylay and not spare the target ?
@ObiWanKainobi_III Honestly pretty interchangeable, but there are fringe cases where being able to return your own unit to hand is helpful (letting falcon attack again, removing a bounty from one of your units)
Bounties aren’t terribly common, so you don’t get any benefit from that. And waylay has other synergies. Waylay can return your own units, which while probably not going to be useful in most games, it gives you some flexibility. You could waylay a damaged Han to ambush it in again on a future turn.
Love the video bro, but Im pretty sure the Han/Quinlan interaction doesn't work that way. When you play Han, you have to fully resolve his effects before you can trigger Quinlans effect. This means you have to ambush with Han before you can trigger your leader. Just like how Bossk unit from set 1 works when you play an event card.
@brandoncavin7878 its more akin to the cad leader plus ambush - the when played and ambush are happening at the same time so you get to choose the order which they happen. It's different than bossk unit plus events because since han is a unit he has "been resolved" just by entering play, and the ambush trigger happens after he's resolved. Events work differently since they aren't entering play, they just have an effect. Not a judge by any means, but thats my interpretation- all I know is that it does work though.
@@MickeydSWU Yes, but what I am saying is you cannot play Han, then activate quinlan's ability to ping 1, then ambush with Han. You have to decide to ambush with Han once you play him, then trigger quinlan afterwards. This is why you have seen people cutting Han from the list, because their misunderstanding of the rules are being corrected at the tournaments.
it works, Han solo ambush triggers "after you play" him. Quinlan ability triggers "when you play", so you play Han, Quinlan pings, ambush triggers, you ready Han and attack the unit.
Going to try this out instead of green this weekend Green
Ambush is extremely powerful and popular, which makes Tarkentown high value every game.
I've been playing Quinlan TT since set 3 release! Great video! Even if I dont fully agree with your build card-for-card, it's awesome to see how innovative you can be with this deck!
Always love watching you go off on a deck.
Mickey is by far the best Quinlan TT pilot I’ve seen so far. Super strong. Love this video!
This makes me want to try the red flavor. I've been having a ton of fun and success with my Quinlan blue, Jedi Lightsaber on Quinlan turn 4 is so good
great video and helpful insights into what i think is a very cerebral deck. would love to see an @L8NightGaming masterclass on quinlan tarkintown with mickeyd and @ktodmatty as guests
Great work mickeyD I know you put the work into this. Love this deck.
There’s been a lot of buzz around this deck lately…
Excellent video! Wonderful tactical and strategic overview of the deck as well. I think folks interested in playing the deck are going to learn a lot from this.
Wow, finally a tier list that I agree with 100% haha. Quinlan and Anakin have a chance at being competitive. Obi could be better than Rey since having a sentinel that can't be bounced and is hard to remove is going to be very good. Boba and Sabine will still be a big problem but hopefully next set balances the game more.
Good stuff. What colors have you stated to build around Quinlan Vos with? Also, agree with most of what you said, but I do think Darth Maul is going to be really good with ECL. It's ability is similar to Anakin's with the overwhelm, and "Fallen Lightsaber" gets a lot better with this new set
@SWUDAD For constructed, I've been testing Quinlan Tarkintown which has really impressed me, though I think he'll be good with most color combos (ECL is next on my list). For limited, give me whatever colors are open I just wanna play this leader!
@@MickeydSWU Nice! Yeah Red makes alot of sense because of the damage synergy. Do you have a list that you would mind sharing? Would love to start messing around with it
@@SWUDAD may make a video about that Quinlan list here soon 👀
@@MickeydSWU Cool looking forward to it
So I agree 99% with this entire list after playing offer. 300 simulated seals I have to say this is 99% correct. The only one I disagree with is the last choice. I have played him seven times and have failed to finish the three-win simulation. His flip side is amazing. When you get his flip side and if he can stay alive, you can win that game. His leader side sucks. You end up playing off tempo just to do damage and it creates an opening for your opponent that is just hard to come back from
@@CrimsonEnvec that's fair! I think that you can often trap your opponents into making awkward plays if they have initiative just because of the threat of his ability, and he just rewards you for playing on curve which is something you want to be doing anyways so that's why I like Quinlan so much!
I see your sabine roots in these tiers :) great vid - so many heros at the top
Thanks for this video and for introducing me to the fun world of Palpatine Green. I particularly liked the part about dealing with different matchups and what to resource and what to play when.
Am I missing something? I thought Palp alone being in the game sets off sentinel isn’t he an official? I’m no pro but I’ve played in local events where I was reminded that royal guard would get sentinel from palp just being in play not even as a unit but in leader form
Thanks
