SHTF Defense and Tomato Stakes
Переглядів 1,7 тис.7 років тому
On our homestead we grow tomatoes and other plants that need to be staked. As preppers we look for things to make us safer in a SHTF situation. As working class stiffs we need things to be multi use. This is a quick video on how I make tomato stakes that double as stakes for stringing tanglefoot around our perimeter.

The Prepper Homestead Workshop, An Introduction
So is the marines light weight helmet the same (not really a lighter helmet) just with a different harness?
I enjoy the ACU pattern cover because of the GWOT 20 yr history. Im a huge fan of the ABU tigerstripe pattern.( The most unique U.S milatry camouflage pattern ever issued) It works fine in my part of California and of course works great in western society city's and the snow environment. The helmet i picked for use is the Ach/mitch 2000 high cut over the fast helmet. I would rather have that side head protection and i can still run coms under the enhanced ear space. I'm sure ill get a fast high cut later for my collection because there just to dam cool. But for now its the extra protection and that iconic GWOT look. Thanks for sharing your info and collection 😊
There are ABU airforce tigerstipe covers available also.
Could you please provide me with a link for where to get this?
I'm going to sew a mil surplus ceramic plate onto the front and back of the PASGT we have
It's a flip of the coin if it stops a 9mm, more than likely not if from a carbine.
While watching the video I noticed 2 mistakes. 1) The chin strap being instaled before the liner. the liner should be as close to the shell as possible so it would benefit you more if you attached if after the liner. 2) The 2 front screws on the chin strap should be on the 2 front screws on the helmet and not on the ones on the ears. That way it's more stable and confortable (something of course you would benefit from).
See, that's what I thought. I was looking through a whole bunch of pictures and videos trying to figure out if the 4 point strap should use the ear holes or the temple holes. Issue with mine is the cheap one I got (for a costume) is a tad too short when mounted to the temple holes.
Is it good now?
I know its an old video to comment on but I wanted to thank you since I plan on doing this exact upgrade to a PASGT that Ive just gotten. Thanks so much!
Hey, sorry to bug you but do you know how to get the cover and headband to fit snugly?
Here is a video on how to do just that I hope this helps unless you found a way ua-cam.com/video/-iQrgmQ_yfo/v-deo.html
@@Danny344S Thanks, I did see that after I posted this comment. I still need a way to keep the headband on.
@@Chief-CO the band should be elastic enough to hold on it’s own did you buy a genuine cat eye band? The bands do have a tendency to come up on there own that’s why they have those Velcro type snap buttons to keep the band low on the helmet etc
@@Danny344S It was from an Ebay bid but the thing is genuine and so is the band. I'm not seeing any buttons or velcro on the it
@@Chief-COso the band keeps popping up or what’s the problem with it?
We have our plan, route, supplies, & destination prepped.
Can it protect you from a knife or a blunt weapon?
It could if your lucky
Kevlar should be stab proof. Blunt weapons aren't meant to break your skin so the flak jacket wouldn't help.
yeah probably, its filled with layers of kevlar fabric, same stuff used in stabproof vests. although i've heard soft kevlar fabric like in the vid has a shelf life of 5 yrs so no guarentees beyond that
@@jamesangelou5171 I'd trust a ten year old Kevlar vest with multiple hits vrs multiple hits on a new ceramic, just know what I've seen in the field.
@@kevinfreeman3098 from a knife it would probs be fine, but Kevlar companies only guarantee their products for 5 years. Hard Kevlar bonded with glue or epoxy can last forever, just check out those old 80s pasgt helmets, still stop schrapnel. Ur right abt ceramic, only useful for one shot until it cracks. Best used for security or such
I find this very useful given current events
If you are ever in Kenosha, Wisconsin, a skate board helmet (wt.=1 lb.) might be smart. 😜
where can i find this liner ?
Is that the USMC gentex retention system? I'm looking to fix my lwh
Can’t keep goats in the city limits so what are people supposed to do for milk when they only have a little bit to spend each month for groceries no transportation to get to the food pantry no family to help back them up then what we old folks need help to
Mandan oranges mostly come from China. So read the labels. Some veggie in cans can come from China to. Never buy made in China if it on your food
I served as a paratrooper in the german army from 2001 til 2005 and we were trained to use the folding shovel as a dedicated melee weapon. We 've got pretty much the same model as the US-military, just with another pouch. You don't need to sharpen the edges, i wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of this either way. They sharpened the blades in WW1 though, when melee combat was a way more common occurence
Kinda look's like the crap is fixin to hit the fan sooner than later, dig the Channel...waitin for another video....KEEP ON ROCKING IT!...........Prepper/Homestead Workshop.........
Cool ideal thank you for sharing and I also subscribe to you
I really liked, first, your selection. All things I eat. Second, how you broke it down for those of us who do not have a lot of money, but can feel good about prepping one small step at a time. I hate beans. But I don't mind lentils so I buy those every so often. Also what a did like is how you selected fruit, for instance, that can flavor a meal (pineapple) and applesauce which can substitute for liquids in baking or baked with chicken...or or or. Multiple uses. Thank you. Blessings!
Good video. I like the idea of water in the trash bag. Thanks
Agreed. Plus there are so many uses for bags!
Unclog drains, softens fabrics, whitens stuff,
Thank you for this video. Can you show us how to make a bug spray? We have such a problem with mosquitoes in Southern California and we all have allergic reactions to their bites.
What a wonderful video. Thank you for showing what can be done with different amounts of money! This is critical information!
Nestle Nido dried whole milk tastes very good. Also if you are going to store citrus or pineapple for more than a short time get them in glass or can those yourself because over time the acid eat away at the aluminum can and they will taste really bad.
I bought my pasgt at a flea market.
Me too
thank you !
Really like the different cost options, thanks.
.... vinegar is acidic.... it counteracts the alkaline in your stomach....
Great topic.
Important video! Very informative
Great info. Thanks guys! God bless
I heard you can add a little sugar and vanilla to that powdered milk to make it taste better. Haven’t tried that yet.
Or add a mix of cocoa, sugar, and a fan of salt.
wouldn't need sugar if you put the fat back in. sugar is the issue, not fat. (not sure how fat fares in terms of storage though)
That flat blade with space. Is called a spanner bit.
You must store food. We Americans have been spoiled with excess for way to long. Look what happens when we’re denied.
I always keep 3 months food delivered to my home
North Carolina BBQ.
You may already know this but pineapple juice is one of the best things you can take/ drink when fighting a cough. It's a great natural remedy for a cough if you have the all natural juice with nothing else added. I'm trying to figure out my prepper pantry as I have very little right now. I just moved from a home to a tiny, itty bitty apt. to be closer to my daughter so trying to figure out the logistics is a bit of a challenge. Thank you for your video. :)
Lisa Grace I live in a small cottage and have been able to put my food in plastic containers and put them under my bed and under my dresser. I have a book case that I turned into my pantry with folding doors 🚪 hoping this information helps you.🏡😺🐶❤️😊
The thing is, while people should try not to be intimidated or even feel guilty about food storage, they need to become more proactive about it as, there are great things to fear - like hunger or later finding yourself in some real, steep competition for sustenance. Living in denial that this could ever happen, is the real monster underneath the bed.
Subscribed right away! Fresh ideas from new channels is great to see happening. A tip for anyone who has a Sav-a-Lot store nearby: Their fruit cocktail in 100% juice is under $1. I like the visuals at the end.

Most steel helmets will stop a .45 and a 9mm, don’t underestimate them!! Check out Mike B’s videos on helmet tests. And almost all Kevlar helmets, including pasgt’s are level 3a
I wish I could find these in the uk, the British army used to have one which was roughly the same but had small ceramic plates over your heart (which can stop rifle rounds) as well as the flak part which I have a few of but I just love the look of the PASGT vest
I just got one off eBay for 8 pound for air soft lmfao
@@jefferydahmersglasses4771 Did it have the filler though, i'm willing to bet no
@@tomsoki5738 idk it hasn’t come yet
@@tomsoki5738 why would you need one anyway?
@@jefferydahmersglasses4771 I collect militaria, and PASGT’s vests just look awesome to me, I would never use it for actual combat, better options around now.
