How to Beat Giratina VSTAR with Gardevoir EX - Pokemon TCG Matchup Guide
This content is NUTS! The only thing I was left wandering after watching it is: what would he cut to make space for rotomV? which cards didn't perform as he desired during the tournament?
He never misses with this content.
Thanks for having me on Rowan! Was a lot of fun talking DON⚡️⚡️⚡️
I thought miraidon traditionally went second for the turn 1 donk. Can you explain why it's a turn 1 deck? Is it just to take away setup
Couple good yutes fr
ogermon
I really appreciate this type of content, it's great to see the thought process of great players behind the deck
Hey Rowan! I started playing the TCG this June, and this weekend I'll be playing in the Sacramento Regionals. I just want to let you know that your channel has proven to be an incredible resource for me. Thank you so much for these videos. It's an honor to learn from someone of your experience, and I really appreciate your willingness to share that experience with the world. 🧡
rowan is the actual goat of free competitive game theory content
Awesome vidéo, I want ton go back on Gardy so bad now! How do you deal with Terapagos of they are playing Bouffalant? Thanks!
Drifloon does enough damage that it doesn't matter. You'll be able to knock terrapagos even with Bouf up. 300 - 60 = 240 (230 HP count Terrapagos)
How is this free?
Only thing if if the regidrago plays jamming tower and your stadium is prized so thats where best of 3 is just better
Do you want to go first or second with this version of gardevoir? I was thinking first since your draw is less reliant on kirlias and you want to get to ex ASAP.
First definitely I guess idk what u would go second against
Trying to deduce privileged information of a Regidrago VSTAR player based on what they choose to discard goes really deep because you have to consider plays they may be considering that make use of its VSTAR Ability.
Oh Rowan ❤ Glad to see you on UA-cam!!
I’m going to play Gardevoir in my first league tournament next week! I’ve been trying it with Perfect Mixer to get energy in the discard faster, but I am also going to test Secret Box before going in.
Tell me how it goes
how did it go?
@@EnderFPS I ended up playing Roaring Moon Ex and I won 3 out of 6. But I have learned recently that Henry’s Garde list is perfect. I won 2 out 3 at a recent gym battle with it. Secret Box is the answer. And late game retrieval of munkidori and the dark energy if it gets knocked out is pretty essential.
@bw2020 yeah lost box nest format is gonna be pretty good with no regidrago but you can still win with manaphy and Pikachu ex
Nothing is stronger than the bond between a man amd his waifu
phenomenal video, thank you guys so much.
I don't quite get why spiritomb is good against lugia vstar, i get that's good against the dragapult matchup because they use rotom and lumineon, but I don't quite get why it is very good against lugia
Vstar power summon
Basic vs
@@llkurofoxll1013 doesn't spiritomb just block abilities of basic pokemon v? Do VStars pokemon count as basic?
It stops Lugia decks from playing Lumineon to find the supporters they need, since those lists usually run 2 copies of Lumineon
Gardy's strongest soldier - How Pokemon does not sponsor Henry to represent the league battle deck is beyond me.
Personally I think i'd still keep the manaphy with Regidrago running rampant, though. I'm not a pro so that's best for me to not deal with potential 3 prize losses in locals. I also can't afford fezan at the moment - do regidragos still usually run cancelling cologne?
I guess the point of Henry is to assume that every regidrago plays a cancelling cologne
i didn't even finish the video yet and i've already heard henry mentioning at least 3 times to not bring manaphy lol, questioning my life choices rn
Thing is, Drago is still bad even with mana, so it’s not really worth keeping.
I can't afford fezan so there's practically no draw power if my ralts get knocked out, how do I go about it?
Get money, buy fez, problem solved
Gardevoir is definitely back.. back in the binder
Can you ask Henry if he ever feels like F Fez is a liability especially since the deck already has a ton of draw power? Fez is the only 2 prize liability and I had a few scenarios I loss to boss fez at the end lol
He mentions putting charm in Fez helps in a lot of key matchups and puts it out of range from stuff like Terapagos, Blood Moon, Lugia, Charizard with 2 prize cards, etc.
You should almost never bench it vs the Raging Bolt matchup unless absolutely necessary
Gardi's most loyal soldier always finds a way to make it work, truly the goat - too bad the money match isn't happening
How is your content free?
Hi Rowan, your channel now has become a crazy resource for Gardy players. The reason I'm not really looking forward to play it is because I'm worried of what will happen to the deck once refinement kirlia rotates in a few months.
You still have 6 full months to go before rotation hits in April. Which is about 16 Regionals/SPE/ICs to go.
oh, it will die 1000%. But in the meantime…
It's 100% gonna die in rotation so I'm gonna be enjoying it til then
Great video Rowan and Henry! I really enjoyed the conceptual boardstates at the second part of the video👌
You are the best!
FIRE info!
These videos are actually so helpful. Please do these for everything.
Thanks for the recap! Feel bad for that Michael in the final but it is what it is, congrats to Caleb!
Hi Rowan, nice commentary as usual :3 Some of my friends went at Lille this weekend but I couldn't :( still, I won't give up
Great summary of day2 :) Thanks!
Will you do a lille recap?
I ALWAYS emote for emotional damage 😭👹😎
Do you have a donation link for a new mic? I dont wanna come off as rude but im listening with headphones and it kinda hurts when you say words that have a "S"
do you have planes to stream?
Let me see if I understood it correctly. Its all about thin your deck before you draw cards. Like if I need a Pokémon and I have a vessel, pokegear 3.0 and Radiant Greninja, I should play first the vessel to draw 2 energies, pokegear to maybe draw 1 supporter and this would make me 3 cards "closer" to a pokémon when I make greninja search. Did I understand it right?
Yup
What's the name of the sim where you are playing called?
Thank you for this video! It's going to be a huge help!
I would love to see another video for day 2 of the tournament
Subbed over of this!
Really cool video idea
Hi Rowan, sadly I'm guilty of not watching a lot of pro players' games at regionals (except when you're on stream ofc) so this content really helps. Also, I haven't been able to play as much as I would like lately because it turns out I actually need to study to get my physics degree (hopefully this summer), so our fated match will have to wait a bit.
Why Lucas Xing didnt kill both charmanders instead of Duskull in the second match? What am i missing?
Charmander has 70hp
@@RowanStavenowTCG thanks, I'm a dumbass
I appreciate this video I'm getting back into the format after years (Xy era) i'm enjoying Charizard, but I know that that deck has much different sequencing than this stack. Since it's mostly all searching effects and not as much draw/scry. Any chance you could make a sequencing video for Charizard players? I know the deck is easy enough that you probably don't even need to, but I'm curious if there's a way I could play even better than I already am
havent seen a better competive ptcg video. please keep these coming along in future regionals
I like this. Definitely keep it going because I love having recaps for these things.
Love this video style recapping majors, looking forward to more!
This is awesome!
Best pokemon videos on UA-cam right now for me keep it up
This format of video is so fcking good. Just by not having to watch players spend 1 minute per deck check, all those time between rounds and all that explained by a professional, it is just a bless to have this kind of content
