I just released a video 10 days before this video about a narrow-gauge train in a display case that is powered by a crank generator. This video sole purpose is to explain and show the schematic of the project and how it works. #microtrainlayout #narrowgauge #trains

That is an amazing layout. I would love to purchase that layout. Its awesome.
If you are truelly interested email me at petewaldraff@gmail.com, we can discuss.🙂
Yep, for over 50 years, the only smooth monorails operating in America are at an amusement park!
I know , it’s a shame.
Wow, good work. Miles ahead of most other people on youtube
Thanks!
They make flashlights like that. I have one,. you wind it up for 30sec. And it's good for some time. 5$ 20yrs old.. Still works. I believe they make radios like that too. No batteries.. Want to get one. Ps. Like your train man,.. pretty cool. Looks like you had a lot of fun making it,..and do after. Thanks for showing. A veteran 1Cav. Age 67.
Thanks!
This is so cool
Thanks!!
You, sir, are an artist. Kodos.
Thanks!!🙂
Cool project and nicely presented video. Lots of planning, work, time, and figuring out.
Appreciate that! Yes they all take lots of time to plan and experiment. I would say for me personally I spend 75% of the time thinking, planing and experiments prior to building. Once I start building it go fairly quick. Then if I hit a road block in the building there is more thinking and solving. I love the whole process. Thanks for watching!
Using Joules to dig jewels.
Clever use of the words, yes, literally what is happening. Thanks for watching!🙂
It would be nice to use solar to power as well.
Agreed, that would be cool.
I am blown away at your creativeness!
Appreciate that, thank you!🙏
Excellent circuit thank you
Your welcome, it works great, I have the need to crank it every time I walk bye🙂. Its addicting! Thanks for watching!!
everything is a dog toy
This is true!
the dog always photobombs
Ha, yes he does.
Very impressive, but I can’t figure out how your circuit works? Did you use a latching relay? Is the cap and resistor connected to the relay coil there to keep it held on( if so how does it get time to charge?) There does not appear to be a fly back diode across the relay coil? Tia
Here is a video of the circuit. I think it will answer all your questions. ua-cam.com/video/JRzRFmBllho/v-deo.htmlsi=C51x9SHAcEfdYgyH
@@PeterWaldraff thank you
@@PeterWaldraff brilliant the circuit is different to the one in the first video , this one makes perfect sense thank you for sharing your excellent work.
@@paulmeynell8866 yes, made a few changes. Very observant. Thanks for the comments.
cool
Thanks!
Quite charming. If the gems could appear in the truck, whilst parked in the mine and then cascade down the cliff at the top of the train run they could be endlessly collected and delivered.
That would be nice!
A turntable at either end of the track would be cool.
Yes, that would be cool.
Are you going to build a full circuit soon it would be cool to see the train move while running off of a compasstor.
I did include and it does run from a capacitor when I flip a switch under the case. I show it in the video.
This sounds like it would be pretty durable. Even if the super cap went bad it would still work with the crank
Yes, and it’s easy to replace parts as they are exposed under the case. It’s my mistake used train layout, I crank it every time I’m near it. It’s addicting😀.
They're all magnificent but my favourite has always been the first I saw which is your Close Encounters tableau.
👍Thanks for your feedback!
Super Peter, thanks for showing us. Is there a 'making-of' vid for this one?
Yes this was my very first project. ua-cam.com/play/PLWtBDw_gr9AQQtfmPV_gzz-oWKMZbz8-T.html&si=TJAkMOsuviifYE2v
Thats like totally far out man!!!!
Thanks! Here is the whole series of the build. ua-cam.com/play/PLWtBDw_gr9AT9K-Z0DX4A6EluIlqbHWJI.html&si=kChw238xKBshJYTh
nice❤
Thanks
1. Flip Coffee Table is just AMAZING , 2. Close Encounter - amazing mechanism, 3. Epoxy River - incredible idea and execution, 4. The Tiny Train's Dinner is very cool - honorable mention
I like your list. Thanks for the feedback!
Pardon my French, but those are f--king amazing!
Thanks! Which do you like most?
@@PeterWaldraff I really dig that city scene micro... it reminds me of Nighthawks, one of my favorite works of art...
@TheJpec361 cool, that is the first vote for that one. Thanks for the reply, appreciated.
Peter, You make it so difficult to choose! Your integration of electronics, woodworking and model trains is spectacular. The Epoxy River is very impressive, but so is the coffee table. I like them both, but give extra points to Epoxy River for artistic effect. The Crank Generator Display gets an award in the novel concept category. Thanks for showing these projects.
Thanks for your input. So far the epoxy river is in the lead.
Boy, hard to pick one of those. I think I would have to go with the Epoxy River. It isn't my favorite layout per se, but I love the completed piece as a whole. The Close Encounter table is awesome, but I really hadn't seen something like the Epoxy River before in terms of a small fold-down layout like that which doubled as an art piece. I've of course seen bigger fold-down layouts in the murphy bed style, but that small one that looks amazing folded up is really cool.
Epoxy River is my wife’s favorite also. Dont know if you read the quote at the start of that one, but she never knew it was a train layout, and thought it was a cool epoxy art piece. That is how I presented it to her, she said “that would be cool”. Then my daughter home from college mentioned the train inside and my wife was like “what!?!?”. I guess she does not pay attention to my builds🤷♂️🤣. Anyway thanks for your input, appreciated!
These are amazing layouts, deffinatly thinking outside the box. Awesome craftsmanship 👍👍
Thanks! What is your favorite?
@@PeterWaldraff The coffee table i thought was awesome but as the video went on my eyes started getting bigger and bigger 😂 the one that rises up when you pull up on it and the one that looks like hanging art work on the wall till you open it up are deffinatly my two favorites, so number 2 & 3.
@madbren Thanks for the reply. Appreciated!
Miniatur yang keren dan mengagumkan...
Thank you!! Apreciated!
why
Why what?
If you let your dog look at it..sniff it, and listen to the train bell...he will lose interest.
Wow. I like that.
Thanks!
That is cool as all get out
Thank you!!
Treat your dog pretty shifty when he probably likes your train more than any friend.
Fuck it that's cool. Lol
Thanks!!
Thats so sick
Thanks!
Love it
Thank you!
Awesome!
Thanks!!
Jeez, the poor dog is just looking at it! Why even open the thing, if it’s gonna cause you to scold your pup for no reason!?!$? For just sniffing the dumb lamp??
Scold????🤣 This dog is treated like a king!
Stop spazzing and making assumptions sheesh
That guy at the party has arrived. Cue the room emptying.
If that's what you call a scold, then you are wayyy too soft 😂😂
Thats pretty cooll dude.
Thank you!
Very lovelyyyyyyyyyyyyy😘🐕🦺😘🐕🦺😘🐕🦺😘🐕🦺😘
Great 👌 idea
Thanks!
This is very nice. you are a terrific craftsman.
