Actor Boris Bilic performs Shakespeare's sonnet 138. Sonnet 138 When my love swears that she is made of truth, I do believe her, though I know she lies, That she might think me some untutored youth, Unlearnèd in the world’s false subtleties. Actor Reginald Pierre-Louis performs Shakespeare's sonnet 130. I have seen roses damasked, red and white, But no such roses see I in her cheeks; And in some perfumes is there more delight Than in the bre...

"Bite me alien boi!"
Wow, what a great piece. I feel your reading really nailed the tone of the writing. What a pleasure this was to view
Beautiful. Thank you, for providing the lyrics too.
At this moment in 2024 I have made 74 circuits around the sun. Mr. Arnold crushes this chapter of the human condition.
Gracias
as Bette Davis said more prosaically: "Old age ain't for sissies"
beautifully recited but - why have you eliminated the last stanza...?
Very nice
Is that the first time he read it?!
Mesmerizing sonnet in mesmerizing voice
I barely survived unrequited love at age 14 because of this sonnet. 🙂
Beautiful. Thanks 👍
my favorite sonnet
Very beautiful, despite my ignorance in poetry...
Bellisimo ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
That was beautiful, and I don’t even speak Spanish.
I very much like this poem - and count Matthew Arnold as one of my favorite poets - (but you can't just simply omit the last enigmatic stanza). I used to like Tennyson's poem Ulysses - who had a very romantic idealized notion about growing old. But as I grow old myself I find Matthew Arnold's the truer poem.
) From Russia with love. Got bless you .
A little circle of games between 3 powers... within or without? Or maybe another 'logic', way of seeing should be sought, allowed. ...then the ending... Just a thought.
Strange thing about poetry, reading it or hearing it... the first time through you get a sense... With a second reading, things that eluded you begin to come clear, crystalize, make more sense.... And so on. (While as a whole, so often, staying just beyond the edge of complete understanding.) - I found my way here after reading a review of FT's first book, in an old 1974 volume of Poetry.
Thank you so much for this beautiful and realistic poetry. I have used it in my kindergarten show, where kids were dressed up and acting as old people, and this poetry was playing in the background.
A very good evening sir just could you help me out with atleast three poems which compliment each other and during the elocution few props can be taken up to make them look fancy .The poems I selected are The Walrus and the carpenter ,The blind man and the elephant and Middlesome Matty. Ma'am really need ur help kindly suggest more according to you which compliment each other. Regards Jade
'about the tumultuous swings between dejection and exultation that love produces'. Hopefully things settle down eventually.
mistress' and lips' , not mistress's and lips's. Sorry to note, but I think it's important...
words that end in s dont use ‘s but still sound like it. For example mistress’, since it ends in s, isn’t spelled mistress’s but pronounced like it
First comment 😅
When I do count the clock that tells the time, And see the brave day sunk in hideous night; When I behold the violet past prime, And sable curls all silver’d o’er with white; When lofty trees I see barren of leaves Which erst from heat did canopy the herd, And summer’s green all girded up in sheaves Borne on the bier with white and bristly beard, Then of thy beauty do I question make, That thou among the wastes of time must go, Since sweets and beauties do themselves forsake And die as fast as they see others grow; And nothing ‘gainst Time’s scythe can make defence Save breed, to brave him when he takes thee hence.
Great and deeply sincere.
Your videos are deeply inspiring to me , The way you married poetry and film so clearly and distinctly is impressive, something I’ve never seen before. I have held this video in my heart for the past few days, teary-eyed, and it is one of the most moving and tender forms of art I have encountered in a while. I hope your channel really grows and that it’s messages spread far and wide ✨✨
That was great man! Thanks for sharing this.
Beautiful!
a powerful indictment
Maybe the best one I've heard today and I like it with American accent
Your poem reminds me of a poem by poet Bert Meyers (d. 1979) titled, "Stars Climb Girders of Light." It's the last poem in his book, "The Dark Birds." A fine poem, Dana. I like the use of music used to augment the reading of the the poem. Thanks for posting the video.
So very necessary. Thank you.
My reading. ua-cam.com/video/9HhWXENzhKM/v-deo.html
This poem belongs in the pantheon of great works of literature. It is one of the most vivid encapsulations of the nature of our fleeting existence and ihe underlying struggle between mundanity and transcendence.
It is to become wise.
Silly. Not everyone who grows old is wise
that end, damn
A great poet who died too soon.
My favorite poem <3 clever concept and brilliant delivery!
I want a day like that. Lovely. May I ask what fountain pen you were using? Do you have a favorite?
Here is my version: ua-cam.com/video/8W3EZZhmIzw/v-deo.html
I’m 65 in 125 days from today 🎉😮⏳⏱ And at the moment I am OK with this. We will see what the future brings…❤
