United States
Приєднався 30 січ 2016
ccjmusic is the place to find videos made by me to support the music I make. I make original music and backing tracks for others to play along with. I also post the occasional practice video.
CCJ is:
Colin Jones - Synthesizer, Guitar and Effects, and Video content and editing.
My musical style is mostly Ambient, Krautrock, Soundscape or Chillout music, but there are a few other styles mixed in, think music that plays during a movie's end credits, or during non-verbal scenes in movies.
100+ albums of original music and/or backing tracks can be downloaded for "name your own price" from Bandcamp.com at
ccjmusic1.bandcamp.com/
Channels on UA-cam that have helped me on my journey include:
Robert Clark - ua-cam.com/channels/Opa-Mbq-uppsoJM8HZD6ZQ.html

Messing around with the SH-4d again this morning. This time I have it going into my DAW where it has a couple of effects added. One of them is Valhalla SuperMassive with the delay time and warp amount controlled by the mod strip on the Keystep controller. Audio fed directly into a phone from the DAW and recorded simultaneously with the video. An animation is layered over the phone video to get ...

I haven't played the guitar much lately so I thought it was time for another practice video. As always with these practices, the video is the first take with no warm-ups and is a live improv with warts and all. A I added an extra couple of synth layers to the "Light Red" backing track from a couple of years back ua-cam.com/video/y-w5azKuxiI/v-deo.html

Hello dear Colin! Here is a sumptuous atmosphere that is very immersive and captivating! Great sound my friend! This music surely has nothing to envy of your other works and deserves to be among the best on this fantastic channel! A big like, a big BRAVO and a hug! ❤🤗
Great music
Beautiful SOUND and great video Colin 👏 well done my Friend 👍
creates an awesome atmosphere I can almost smell it thats exactly what I like hails from drauglur from germany subbed
Thank You! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Nice effort, stay connected 6 done
Great work again my friend! ❤ The video is wonderful and as always, your music accompanies it perfectly, creating another of your magnificent musical atmospheres with your usual "Tangerndrean" reminiscences! ❤🎶🎵🎶✔️👍🏻
Thanks Aldo! I really appreciate your constant support and encouragement.
captivating omg
Thank You! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

For a moment I thought I clicked on my friends video game channel. Very cool contrast of the visual with the music.
Thanks Ben! Yeah I have had a couple of comments about it looking like a video game. BTW. I will see about making a backing track for you in the next few days.
@@ccjmusic Very cool!
@@benpowersguitar Hey Ben, I have a track for you now. Check you IG messages for details.
That's oddly interesting to watch. Great stuff.
Thanks Ben! Yeah, I was just messing around and thought I should make a video.
That's coooool!
Thanks Ben! Stay tuned for a new effect on my music starting next week. I ordered a Joyo Infinite Sustainer that should arrive on Sunday. I have been wanting an eBow or equivalent for a long time now and finally decided to order one. That should add the ability to create more ambient stuff from the guitars and incorporate that into my new tracks. It should be a fun experiment.
@@ccjmusic That should be fun.
Super!
Thank You! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Nice one
Thanks Cody!
Interesting performance! It sounds like fun ... 👍
Thanks Frank. I was just randomly changing things on my SH-4d so there was no planned direction. I just got what I got.
@@ccjmusic Oh yes ... 😄
Coliiin! This infinite tunnel of lights and shadows makes me appreciate music even more!
Thanks Maurizio! I created the animation first and then while it was rendering I decided to record a random jam to go with it.
Great beat
Thanks George!
Tribal and hypnotizing. Unexpected but great! Sweet visuals too but no surprise there 😁
Thanks Fred! I have still been having fun combining the hardware and software together. The hardware definitely encourages more free-form experimenting
This is legit Spacial ambience. I love it. The animations truly guide the feel of the soundtrack. Nice work man!!!!
Thanks Rob! I have been doing a lot of experimenting lately. Ever since I got the hardware synths I have been varying my uploads more. Glad you liked it.
Very original sound 👏 well done my Friend 👍
Thanks Fabio! Trying to keep things fun.
this is art got yourself a new sub here hails from drauglur from germany
Thank You! I hope you find more to like here.
Cool!✨
Thank You! I appreciate you checking it out.
Chaos is fun! Nice jam! :)
Thank You! I appreciate you checking it out.
Valhalla SuperMassive is a great VST, I use it too! And here I see that you have played a lot with the knobs of your effects! LOL! Well, well, you have to give yourself the pleasure of experimenting and enjoying the sounds! Great experimentation! I leave you my like and cordial greetings! 🤗
Thanks Aldo! I have a bunch of presets I made for Valhalla SuperMassive. I have one that I use whenever I want to add that TD feel to a sequence, and three or four that turn anything into a flowing ambient soundscape. You really can't beat it.
Absolut crazy! Nice stereo effects ...
Thanks Frank! Yeah, every so often you just have to let loose and experiment.
Coliiin! It feels like I'm at an F1 Grand Prix! A truly unique effect, well done!
Thanks Maurizio! I had fun by changing the delay time and warp amount in Valhalla SuperMassive with the same control on my keyboard. Other than that I was mostly playing around with the cutoff and resonance and the speed and shape of an LFO that modulated the filter amount and pitch.
The music does not disappoint expectations. From the first moments, you find yourself immersed in a sea of rich and layered electronic sounds, which intertwine and evolve in unpredictable ways. Great job Colin!!!!!!
Thanks Marco! I felt like a little experimental stuff again. Modulating both the sound and the effects applied to it in a random way. Having the lights change helped with that too.
Beautiful performance 👏👍well done Colin
Thanks Fabio! This one is not so easy to add guitar to. I thought about it though. lol
Coooliiin! This journey inside this strange thing that cannot be defined is beautiful! The music is light, impalpable but dark!
Thanks Maurizio! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I have been having fun creating these journeys lately.
Amazing video my friend! And as always with the excellent musical atmosphere that usually characterizes you! Greetings! 🤗
Thanks Aldo! I have been enjoying combining dark ambient with more melodic layers lately.
Beautiful track and fantastic visuals my friend !
Thank You Roberto! I appreciate you stopping by to listen.
@@ccjmusic
Very good
Thanks George! I appreciate your support as always.
You are maybe not familiar with modern video games but your visuals are comparable to the best ones from today. By far you most incredible visual creation and the soundtrack that accompanies it is a pure jewel too. Perfect alchemy. Love the organ, it fits the track perfectly.
Thanks Fred! It definitely is an advantage being able to create longer animations on one PC while able to use another to create music. I have been stuck in a world of fractals for a while now. They seem to suit the music I have been making lately. Glad you enjoyed it.
If I watched this video after drinking a bit...well...it would be a problem...really hypnotic! Well done COlin!
Haha Thanks Maurizio! I will have to be careful in future, I don't want you getting hypnotized.
Fine pieces the recent days. With guitar (?) and nice sounds ... Are the drums "real" or created by synth?
Thanks Frank! Yes, I used a guitar on this track and no, the drums aren't "real", they are created with a VST in my DAW. A mix of the built-in drums in the Mixcraft DAW and a VST called Trax CM
Fabulous!!! Well done!
Thank You! I appreciate you taking time to listen.
Fantastic!!! Well done!
Thank You! I appreciate the support
Hey! Intriguing atmosphere to house that Froeseian guitar that appears between percussions and drums that could be from the great Klaus Schulze! But at the same time I think I hear here a reinterpretation of some of your past (perhaps recent) productions! Anyway, this is beautiful and one to listen to many times my friend! Greets and a hug! 🤗
Thanks Aldo! As with most of the tracks I create with the guitar there will be a very similar sound because of the way I play. Due to a combination of arthritis in my fingers and being legally blind in my left eye, I can only play the guitar one finger at a time, so I play on one string often, sliding between notes so I know where I am. This results in me using the same notes often. If you watch a video of me playing you will see that I also have to swap which finger I use often as after a few seconds my knuckles will start to hurt. This means I have to really concentrate again to land on the right string. Luckily this method of playing works perfectly for the type of guitar I really like having in my music. I hope you are having a great weekend.
Ohhh! Experimental and weird, but also interesting and captivating! Also great images along with these sounds that are not always found in your productions. Great experimentation my friend! Cheers! 🤗
Thanks Aldo! I was experimenting with a new delay plugin that randomizes multiple delays resulting in all kinds of weirdness. I applied it to a combination of drums, a short vocal sample and a drone to get this. The video is a composite of three of my animations with some effects added. I love experimenting as you never know what will come up.
ps: ... and cool video!
Thanks! I just combined three animations and added some effects as another experiment.
Cool beats!
Thanks Frank! I love experimenting and not knowing what will result.
BAP BAP BAP………💥
BAP DIDDLE BAP BAP Thanks for taking time to listen. I appreciate that.

a mysterious sound when we hear something from behind a long funnel in the roar of the wind
Thank You! I really love mixing the weirdness of some sounds with the more expected sounds.
A fascinating combination of electronic and acoustic sounds: the music of this track is truly unique and evocative. The synthesizer sounds, very accurate and reminiscent of wind noise, create an airy and spacious atmosphere, perfect for the "Picking Up the Pieces" video. The electric guitar, with its warm and delicate sounds, contrasts perfectly with electronic sounds, creating a perfect balance between strength and fragility. This contrast perfectly reflects the theme of the video, which talks about picking up the pieces after a difficult period. The music is truly touching and moving, and invites the listener to reflect on their own difficult moments and the strength that lies within us to overcome them. Well done Colin for your ability to create such an emotional and meaningful soundtrack. Forgive my very long absence, I have had serious health problems. Luckily I am strong and have overcome this sad moment. I will do my best to return to give you all my support. See you soon my dearest friend!!!
Great to hear from you Marco! I was just thinking yesterday that I need to check in on you to see how you are doing. I'm glad you are back. Thanks for the very kind words about this music/video. I hadn't really done much with guitar lately, and after a practice video a day or so ago, I thought I should try and create something that married the two main styles I've been creating lately. I wanted to create a new sub-genre of my own. I call it "Dark Ambient Blues". I'm glad you enjoyed it. Look after yourself and don't push yourself to do too much.
@@ccjmusic I found this musical approach really original, I hope you will make more music like this. Even if slowly, everything seems to be returning to normal. For now I can only stand still for a short time each day, but I will do everything I can to get back to what I once was. Have a peaceful weekend Colin :)
@@IntraMoeniaArt Thanks Marco! Yes, I'm sure I will create more tracks using this approach. It works well for me. I hope that you are able to get your health more under control soon so you can enjoy life's pleasure whenever you feel like it. The main thing is to not push yourself too hard. I wish you a healthy time always.
@@ccjmusic I will do my best not to give up, you can be sure of that. Thank you for your friendship!!!
Love the background weirdness
Thanks George! I used a free VST to create most of the weirdness. Do a search on Baby Audio Free plugins. I can't add the link in a comment. I used Magic Dice to create random delay effects. I have it applied to both a vocal and a granular drone.
Great beautiful sound arising from your magical strings and your creative talent my friend! As they say here, in other comments, great bands and influential musicians can be evoked, but many of us know Edgard Froese always lives in your heart! ❤ Bravo, great work! Aplausse! 🌟✔️🌟👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻👍🏻
Thank You Aldo! You are right TD will always be my biggest influence, along with a touch of Pre-DSOTM Floyd. I am definitely influenced by a lot of great people of YT too as you know.
Oh, I didn't understand Pre-DSOTM... but GPT helped me and figured it out! LOL But yes of course! Pink Floyd was a very influential band during that era you mention, especially for what is considered psychedelic and experimental!
@@DOALTRONIC-Aldo_Amodei Sorry, I forget not everyone will know that DSOTM is Dark Side Of The Moon. I have known it as that for 50 years lol The biggest influence on my music is Tangerine Dream as you know, with early Pink Floyd another huge influence. I can't play guitar like David Gilmour, but I can try and add the overall atmosphere of Pink Floyd. Combine these with the influences of Ambient music, admired YT musicians and my own spin on things and you end up with my music.
Colin! Not even David Gilmour would sound like that! Really great, you put in a lot of effort! 🚀
Thanks Maurizio! A quick step away from the dark ambient drones etc. I hadn't played for a few months and needed to get in more practice. The way I play is non-conventional so I can't play other people's music to practice. But I think that is perfect for me as it forces me to create my own music always.
This one reminds me one of my all time favorite music era during the early 90’s when New Age was at its best. When music used to cure my soul and mind of disturbed teenage lol. It’s really beautiful. Some great Mike Oldfield’s flow here.
Thanks Fred! What a great compliment! I have to admit I only really know Tubular Bells and maybe Ommadawn if I heard it.
I love this SOUND 🥰🎸 well done my Friend 👏
Thanks Fabio! As I promised a couple of weeks ago, I got the guitar out again for more than a few elements in a synth track. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Great guitar work!
Thank You for listening and commenting. I appreciate it.
Great playing
Thanks George! I still wish my wife could take the reverse sound so I could "borrow" from your style occasionally.
Wow, with the first sounds I already understood that this piece of music was going to be great! Your music is like a time warp that brings Pink Floyd into the present. With lot's of admiration, Markus
Thank You Markus. I have always loved early Pink Floyd and had to borrow from them a little again. Thankfully, this style of music is one I can fake on the guitar with my unusual playing style.
