Had it tighter in the beginning but kept losing fish and breaking the hook length. Managed to land all 4 carp in the end by leaving it more slack, worked fine 🤷‍♂

But I agree, I usually would put more pressure on the fish but it didn't feel right on that day for some reason, not sure if its the rod being to soft or the reel dodgy. I ordered myself a rod and reel specifically for carp feeder fishing which should do a better job hopefully. I have had this rod and reel for a while and mainly used it for bream fishing. Hopefully it will go better next time 🙏

I was using 8lb mainline and 7lb hook link material and a charging carp can break that even single digit carp. Its also to prevent hook pulls or their mouths being ripped open (which is unlikely with these small hooks but can happen) You let them power out by the time to net, because they have sudden and very powerful charges which can easily result in hook pulls or break offs if drag is not lose enough. I still need to improve my carp feeder fishing myself (as seen in the video) but its all about practise. I have talked to a few people and they suggested using 10lb mainline and 8-9lb hook link material just to have a bit more play and able to keep them away from snags

They are a great species, just not when pike fishing 🥲 If they swallow those trebles it could be over for them. Will definitely tr to catch some monster eel there when fishing is open on this lake in September using dedicated eel rigs!

Roach deadbait on circle hook on float in the margins. Make sure the bait is on the bottom. Usually best presentation for me

I know this is for my favorite thing for angling.But I have something else to say, now I don’t have problems with eel and I don’t use chemicals either, but an idea i heard from other anglers is using betaine solution on your baits but that’s not the what I would use,if I ever found eels in a lake that I was fishing at, I would use smaller amounts of the dead bait because many anglers tell me that the eels mostly hold onto the bait not the hooks. Keep up the good fishing p9.
