Bar cube is pretty neat. No treasures, or copying, or counters, or any token. It really changes both the balancing and tracking of the game. Less of a chore more of a game.

I wish i had a more regular casual group to play with. My local shop in northern Illinois is not "sweaty" but all the decks are very ...fine tuned lol

While you have some points, leaning on vibes and other things that are mostly superficial, is mostly misplaced. Even your timing of sleeves and such is way off. My local community in rural ohio was sleeving their cards back in 2005-2006. Being against sleeves is hipster nonsense, magic cards at the end of the day are cardstock that absorb moisture, plastic sleeves not only feel better to shuffle but are better for the long term (for people who actually play the game). The greedy business men playing the market are no different from WOTC themselves. If you are truly against "Collecting" and such then you should be fully supporting proxy's and homebrew cards as well, otherwise your whole vibe argument is nothing but wind. I've hated the money grubbing of dual lands even before the Baneslayer Angel's and Jace the Wallet Sculptor changed the game even more harshly for normal people.

My boyfriend and I tried to play the beginner box and he hated it, we didn’t have sleeves but I also had to take away the board game style play mats the box includes to make it feel like an actual card game and not a Whole Thing for him to get into and enjoy it

Commander draft format I have played for the last 6 months in our 4 player pob. * 3 packs per player (or ca 50 cards per player from any cube * 40 card size decks minimum * 25 starting health * Any rare/mythic/legendary/planeswalker can be commander (if players still stuggle, allow uncommons) * No color locks due to commander because that make no sense in a limited format Bonus: We use monarch rule because it is a great multiplayer option to guide who to attack and reward it. the first player to deal combat damage take the monarch card. This format allow you to dive heads first into THEME and flavor, endorsing the mechanics in any format, and have commander involved too. PS: And remember, buying a draft/play booster box = buying a set thematic CUBE!

This has the exact same message as a video called Primal and the Death of the $100 Board Game. Having nice components is the standard for so many new games, but nothing beats the feeling of raw gameplay. The highlight of my table should be my opponents, not the tray that holds my game pieces

I just found this video and this sounds super cool, especially with all the classics and reprints from Foundations. IDK if the one I brew up will be *100%* Foundations but definitely leaning in that direction atm

That's what I've got going on with artifact and enchantment strats in my commander cube. I've taken to using auras as my main evasion cards so they're useful in most decks and some good vehicles so Sram is useful for artifact decks too. Eidolon of blossoms works in etb also

have you considered doing a quick 'debrief' after the last match on how the deck/cube felt? what cards over/under performed and what you may have liked/disliked about the environment? just a thought i had watching through the videos, sometimes after the last game they end a little suddenly lol. though, this may add more editing/work than is worth it
