My best friend is like this, 40s, single, living alone for stints in his own house whilst also living over the weekends with his parents. We don't speak about dating that much, he still tries to date but I don't think he puts that much effort into it. He told me once he doesn't want kids, so I get it. He has tons of hobbies we share, but he has much more time than me for them. Honestly, i wouldn't trade places with him, but I really get it. Sometimes he texts me at 5am with pictures of something he's working on or a video game he is playing. And while I'm fortunate enough to have found quite literally the best wife I could find, and have a wonderful family that understands my hobbies, there's no way in hell i could stay awake until 5am playing video games and and be a functional adult/parent the next day lol Not all of us are the same, and that's ok.
