Grating Shave Soap to a Stick Container
Переглядів 20 тис.12 років тому
Grating Palmolive Shave Stick to add to a Shave Stick Container.
To view the coffee grinder in action go to 9:08
Could use this for grinding einkorn or emmer?
I have a 'Spong no2' and it makes perfect coffee.
Hi, Where did you buy the Palmolive? And the shaving soap stick dispenser?
that cup is the same as mine
Excellent presentation 👏 I just got one yesterday on Ebay with no hopper or glass, but I'll be making single cups so it's ok.
I just purchased one today but it has no glass!! Any idea where I can find glass?
Hi Melissa, you may want to try eBay or Etsy for vintage jelly jars. When the original glass would break, many owners (1900’s) would substitute with jelly jars.
壁掛けのコーヒーミル面白いですね。屋外でコーヒー飲むのに良さそう
Can you show a video how the oscillator arm is connected?
Chris Wimberly Sorry I cannot as the fan was sold.
*I just love this coffee grinder>>>**allmy.tips/KRUPSgrinder?uU~~** It is easy to use. Small enough to fit on my counter. Yet powerful enough to grind up my coffee the way I want. Well worth the money.*
Thanx, we've had one of these kicking around from wifey's grandmother. Our electric grinder gave up the ghost so I tried our Arcade Crystal but like yours the grinds were too course. Your demonstration showed me how to fix it.
I have one of these and the gasket between the housing and glass is destroyed . What would you recommend to fix this
Enrique Chavez ...Check this site out as they have many parts for the #3. picclick.com/ARCADE-COFFEE-GRINDER-PARTS-Crystal-2-3-151929893712.html
@@cutley2b thank you. Just bought one as I took apart my new old #3.
I used a really thick rubber band, might have come from broccoli or similar. Love my arcade grinder!
Man this thing is so cool. Will definitely be on the lookout for one.
Great video. Thanks for the detail. I'm about ready to look for one of these.
Thanks. I still use mine a lot. Just used it yesterday.
You inspired me to tear down my old Armin Trosser. I cleaned it and lubed the shaft. It works so much better now! Still watching Arcades though.
I love how thorough you are, you're a gift to the world
Thanks for the kind words. I always strive to try and be as thorough as possible.
I would love to see a shot of espresso pulled from one of its grinds.
Thank you for the video ... and ... Griswold :o)
Just a quick question. Mine is unpainted just like the one in the video. I have seen pictures of this grinder with blue paint. I have also seen this grinder with the silver colored paint on the accents. Do you know if these all originally came painted, or not?
Our original Arcade Crystal is painted black.
Thanks for taking the time to create this video. We brought this grinder a few months ago, and the only part not original was the cup. I didn't know it wasn't original until I watched your video. We also did not know that the grind was adjustable, but the setting it was on was just fine for an electric drip coffee maker. Thanks again for the helpful video.
could you melt the soap in the microwave and then pour it into the container?
surfzombie2 Good idea! Haven't tried it but should work.
I thought of another idea. grate the soap like you show and go to the hardware store and get a flat washer that fits the inside diameter of the container and use that to pack the soap with a wood dowel or chop shick.
surfzombie2 No this soap is animal based and will not melt. Plant based soaps you can melt. You can soften it by using hot water. If you try to melt it use a small piece and let me know how it works out for you.
I "restored" my Great Grandmother's Arcade Crystal #3 about 9 months ago by glass beading, cleaning and repainting it. I made a wood backing board that measures 20"X7" which is approx. the same height as the entire grinder. It's mounted into a wall stud and I hid the 2 mounting screws directly behind the grinder. You will need to remove the grinder from the board to gain access to the mounting screws but this has provided a rock-solid mount with no movement at all. Excellent video, Thanks
Life saver. I had some really unusable coffee this morning but now the grinder is working great!
Mine doesn't have the wood back frame can I still screw it in the wall by itself or does it need a back piece .
Hi Dave. Yes, you can just screw it to the wall without the back plate. I just did that to make it stand out more.
+cutley2b so I screwed it in the drywall with the plastic sleeves but it still has a slight wobble when I spin it ..is this okay??
+David Reab I'm sorry, I should gave been more clear. You should make sure you attach it to studs in the wall with heavy screws. The plastic sleeves in drywall will probably not hold securely. When grinding beans, it takes a little effort as the internal gears are cast iron. There is a lot of pressure between the gears and the beans and your wobbling will get worse and eventually the grinder will fall off the wall.
Couldn't you just put it in a pyrex dish and microwave it until liquid and pour it in? Granted not all soaps will be liquid when microwaved. Colonel Conk will though.
You must have a lot of time and be really broke...the stick only costs 4 Bucks...and lasts forever...you remind me of one of those cooking show hosts with 50 ways to cook SPAM...lol
Who cares what you think, William
I have a # 3 that has been in the family forever but mine has nothing below the grinder body. No catch cup nor anything to hold one. It will be easy to fabricate something so that isn't a problem. This grinder probably hasn't been used in 60-75 years. Thanks for showing me how they work.
Excellent! Thank you for posting this! I bought a grinder just like this yesterday, and was looking for some tips on how to use it, adjust it and clean it. This was very helpful!
It's a great antique AND a great grinder. You just need to experiment with the setting that's right for your type of brewing. Good luck.
Thank you for posting this. It's the only video I've found that so thoroughly showcases the use of these antique grinders. You've definitely helped me make up my mind to look for and buy one.
+David Manavi Buy it. I got one in an Illinois antique mall last year and it out-performs the Cuisinart Burr grinder I'd been using for five years!
+Bogframe mine doesn't have a wood back frame attached can I still just screw the grinder in the wall without the back frame??
That's what I did, but use ither plastic sleeves or toggle bolts or it'll come right out of the wall.
I recently picked up one of those fans for $20 on craigslist. Very powerful as you said and loving it!
Is that 2% milk and if it is do you heat it up in the microwave or leave it cold and if you heat it up how long do you put it in the microwave
Why grate it? I use an old glue stick tube (Pritt) and just push the soap down into it. There is a small loss of soap at the side but I can live with that as the soap is dirt cheap in UK
This technique can be done with ANY shave soap.
an ingenious idea, but I not have mama bear soaps products, i live in spain :'(
nice !
But as I stated, the soap has to go into the container as flakes, not a solid. That's how the soap conforms to the container. You could possibly try and form it first, THEN try to add it to the container but I don;t think it would form a tight seal.
If the diameter of the soap is smaller than the diameter of the container, then one could drill a hole slightly smaller than the center rod of the container and screw the soap on to the container. Should work just as well, no?
Not sure I am following... the soap is in flake form and needs to be molded to the container.
wouldn't it be much easier to drill a hole down the center of the soap?
I would think so. In fact, me personally would like to have a container that twists instead of pushing. The twisting containers would add a little more control.
Nice Video. Can i use old deo-Container ?.
Great video. This works great with regular pucks of soap too.
I failed to mention that, as you get near the top of the container, you can obviously use your thumb to compact the soap, instead of the chopstick.
