A new favorite: Running the Flagstaff Sky Peaks 50 Miler

This race has been on my radar for some time. All it took was for my buddy Shade to sign up for it as his first 50M for me to climb aboard. This race was so much fun, and super beautiful. Don't sleep on Flagstaff Sky Peaks!

“Let’s gooooo 😅😅” that’s gold right there
Why does everyone say that?! Hahaha
When you do r3, park at BA trailhead and call the taxi. It is cheap and saves the legs for the Canyon. It is 24/7 and drops you at SK. I understand that a few more miles is no biggy for ultra runners but it is nice to save everything for below the rim.
Excellent tip! Thank you! Hopefully this Fall.
inspirational and great video, you gained a subscriber here! I'm always facinated by endurance races and this looked awesome, 160miles is still insane to me (I will do my first ever race, and it's a 66km, even that is daunting)!
Thank you so much! Good luck with the race! When is it?
What an incredible journey! 160 miles is amazing. Thanks for sharing this adventure with us.
Glad you enjoyed it! I learned a lot this time… let too much get in my head!
Nice job gentlemen. I'll be there in 3 weeks to run that route with a stop at Phantom, because that's always my "bottom-of-the-Canyon." Then spool up the training, and do another R2R, mid-Aug, and again on the first weekend of Oct. Love running there. Vids on the channel.
Can’t wait to get back for R2R2R!
So awesome out there
Epic!!!
People really cleared the way for you on the way down huh?
Yeah for the most part lots of courtesy on the trail.
Count me in for next year, I feel like I'm either gonna crush it or puke all the way through, no in between 😅
I thought for sure it would be the latter for me the whole time!
Awesome brother I saw you out there. Sub 6 hour is an accomplishment for sure. Well done see you next year.
Thanks! Great job to you too! What’s next?
What a fun run! I've heard the cowboy loop is a good one. One of these days I'll run R2R2R ;-) In the meantime, thanks for letting me run vicariously through your video!
Same! R2R2R needs to happen now. 👍🙌
Weather looks perfect!
It was!
I stopped eating fast food years ago after getting food poisoning from Jack in the Box. I’m more impressed by your iron stomach than anything else😂 Excellent work on the run though! I’m super disgusted by the video I shall like it anyway 😁
Haha! Thanks! Definitely not eating fast food again if I can help it!
This is just all kind of wrong! Glad you are having fun.
It was fun!
Haha! There is a local Taco Bell 50k that I'm planning to do later this year. Lucky for me, Taco Bell is my favorite!
That’s what this was based on!
@@royquinn yah! I caught that near the end of the video after I posted my comment.
Was this like a net nothing for calories? lol
I ate a bit more than I burned! 😬
Another 2 tacos order?🤔what are you guys from corporate or something?!😂 great video!!
Thanks! 🙏
Hell yea dude lets go, just ran my first trail marathon with like 5k of elevation gain mabye do a few more then try a 50k! a lot of races out here in Arizona, Inspiring video man!
Awesome! I love the AZ trails. I’ve done a lot of races out there.
Beautiful race course! I bet the rain helped keep things cool. Great job on this one!
Thanks! Highly recommend this one!
Good Job!!! I am proud of you!!!!
great pace!
If you ran in those sandals, you'd still be on the course!
Haha! Probably! I did see someone who ran in sandals.
Hang in there Roy!
I'm so proud of you! You are incredible and you are never alone!!!!
Looked beautiful out there Roy!
So pretty!
Congrats! Did it this year - fun race and challenging course!
Way to go! Beautiful country.
Great job! We have a group doing the race this year. Loved your video. Thank you for sharing!
Enjoy it, should be awesome weather!
hi uncle Roy I’m your 100 subscriber :)
🙌
GET IT
It’s a beautiful hike thanks for taking us along. With snow that firm a pair of microspikes would have made life a lot easier. When I did c2c in November conditions were similar but I found the snow portion easier than my previous attempts with no snow because the snow smoothed out the trail and the spikes gripped very well in that type of snow. I’ve done that Deer Spring loop with no snow, the part from Wellmans divide down to the junction was my favorite.
Yes, I agree! That was my first time ever using my yak tracks… I think they’re better suited for ice and maybe road. My two buddies both had micro spikes and we’re very pleased with them so I definitely need to get me a pair! Thanks for watching! So great up there.
Epic!!
Good joke, but then I like stuff like that!
Ice goblins
Cool can’t wait 🎉
Hell yeah m’man!! Don’t remember if you told me about this & then the ultra before it outstanding my bro! Love seeing isht like this! Very inspiring 👍🏼💪🏼🏃🏽♂️🔥
When the cat left you should have left also 🤣🤣🤣 much respect because you got farther than me
100%! He knew it!
Left me on a major cliffhanger with that intro! Beautiful course! Your Payday candy bar reminded me of a 21 mile trail run that I did a few weeks ago. Ate one of those bars myself and enjoyed it ;-) Well done finishing the race!!!
I had a payday at an aid station once and was sold!
You are absolutely NUTS!
No pun intended? 🤣
I loved the part when you said screw you to the nuts when you threw them away haha when I did the one chip challenge it was the worst thing ever, so I can’t imagine running too!
Oh man, the one chip challenge was so easy for me… made me let my guard down!
@@royquinn dude you’re a legend!! I had to take the next day off from work I was hurting so bad haha
You're my hero, Roy! Way to bring it on home.
Thanks for letting me laugh at your expense!
It’s what I’m here for!
Well done! Looks like a hard race, but a beautiful one too. Thanks for sharing your journey with us!
Congrats!!
Inspiring!!
That would be my daughter's nightmare! haha
Oh no! She’s afraid of Santa?
Spent my morning coffee time re-watching this one, Roy! Good times, bro!
this is very entertaining
Fun run 🏃♂️ jetson
Congrats.
Good on ya, Roy! Tackling the last two climbs in the heat...then the finish after the shaded section took some true grit. Thank you for taking us along with you. KEEP GOING!
Epic. Great job, dude. Didn't realize you were chasing CO's all day. Well done.
Yah, all day Sunday! 😭
