DICKY BETTS' GREATEST GUITAR IDEA. AND IT'S SIMPLE!

Explains several of the great Allman Brothers guitarist's methods, including a particular move that was all his own. Uses examples from the song "Blue Sky" from Eat A Peach. The transcendently perfect solo from this song is Betts' style in a nutshell.Above all Betts was a master improviser, who created beautiful ad lib melodies using country, blues, rock and classical influences. IS THIS LINDA RONSTADT'S ROCKINGEST SONG? "HOW DO I MAKE YOU" GUITAR LESSON
Переглядів 4397 місяців тому
In depth lesson on "How Do I Make You", a rockin' power-pop song from Linda's Mad Love album. Isolated guitar tracks from the recording help you hear what's really being played, then I show how to play it. Mark Goldenberg of the Cretones was recruited to play guitar on this record, which included several Cretones and Elvis Costello tunes. This was a bit of a departure from the country influence...
GOLD TONE EB-6 SIX STRING ELECTRIC BANJO
Переглядів 2,5 тис.Рік тому
The EB-6 is a unique hybrid, a six string banjo that plays like an electric guitar. It's reasonably priced, might be useful for guitar players who want to add banjo sounds to a mix or to their live show. TELE PLUS SLIDE PLUS CERTANO BENDER EQUALS FAUX PEDAL STEEL!
Переглядів 3,8 тис.Рік тому
Turn your tele or other electric guitar into a pretty convincing pedal steel substitute! David Certano makes a beautiful double string bender. Couple that with an open tuning and a slide, and you can cop some pedal steel licks that are good enough to fool people. certano.fr #telecaster, #pedalsteel, #fauxpedalsteel, #steelguitar, #bbender, #stringbender, #slideguitar, #certanobender
IMPROVISE A SWEET BLUES SOLO WITH JUST 4 NOTES

Limiting yourself to just a few notes in one position is a good practice method for anyone, but it's especially helpful if you're having trouble improvising solos. In this lesson we're limiting ourselves to the "B.B. King box", and using bends, vibrato and rhythmic variations to keep it fresh. #bbking, #blues, #classicblues, #phrasing, #vibrato, #guitarimprovisation, #guitarimprov, #gibsoncusto...

This bargain tele is crazy good! I played a lot of sound samples, and with the new La Brea pickups it has a more classic tele sound. Lots of twang. I opened it up and checked out the pots, switch, jack and wiring. Here are the features that the M Musi has that are unusual at this price: Locking tuners Bone nut Compound neck radius(9.5 to 12) Stainless steel frets! Staggered height tuning posts ...

Harley Benton BJ-65Pro 6 String Banjo quick look
My favorite song 🗡 Could you make a lesson or tab for your opening lead? Thank you mate.
thank you bart😎
I could be wrong, but it sounds to me like the guitar on the record is tuned down a half step and those first two chords are b minor 7 and open E.
Simplify it. That's all too much and it's too much detail. Arrange it for one guitar and then present it. Thanks.
Thank you! This is a difficult song to find good information and you cleared up all of my questions.
Glad to help!
I graduated 74 and bought this album. Still have it.
This is super cool! This is the best video I've seen on the benders for tele (and I'm pretty sure I've seen at least 80% of them). Thank you!
@@billfinch8632 hey, I see that Certano now has an entire tele bridge with built in benders. If I were to do this again I think I’d go that route. It’s only about $80 more than just the benders, and more foolproof to install.
Great concise lesson!!
Realy helpful ! Tanks, from France
To my ears it sounds almost like a muted Telecaster being played on the bridge pickup. It's got the twang and tinny thing Telecasters have. I play a 4 string plectrum banjo, and have considered getting a 6 string banjitar. I'm not sure if one of these electric banjos sounds enough like a banjo for me to spend the loot to get one. Thanks for the video.
I just purchased this in the red color from Sweetwater
Great lesson, thanks Bart! One of my favourite Stones song. Love Ron Woods, but for me the Stones were at their very best during the Mick Taylor years! 🎸 🇨🇦
I'm right with you on that!
Great tutorial, thank you 😊
Nearly every UA-camr who puts benders on a guitar says “very pedal steel sounding”. Ahh…….no. Benders are great and I love the sound of a well played Pull String, but don’t try to be a pedal steel.
Almost, the lick at 9:45 is Bb A F not A G F.
Been thinking about this a lot lately, 70 is weighing heavy on my shoulders. Great job on the song & video
Fabulous, Bart! One of my very fave Stones songs….you did a great job! 👍🏻🎸
Sounds terrific!
I never had Sweetwater do this...
Typical of Guitar Center...
I needed a quick solution for this song, and your video delivered it, thanks!
You're welcome!
I picked up a lot of cool licks and playing tips. You have got this guitar playing really good with the right attitude and The Pretenders feel. Excellent! Much thanks. Love your guitar tone - very bitey!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks man!
Very thorough and clear explanation. Muchos gracias amigo.
Great lesson on of the originals in rock in general. And he's one of the godfathers of southern rock.
One of the best songs I've ever heard.
I bought one today in a Belgium musicstore. It was set-up perfectly, no blemishes and the new ones , it's a second generation H7, have the 43mm nut. This guitar is awesome.
Than you so much dude
KEY OF THE SONG?
A minor
Searched all over the Internet for a tutorial on this song. Wanted to make sure I wasn’t hearing things that you nailed the lead and the notes.
Good lesson -- you showed me parts I could not figure out. And I tried for while -- just could not get it.
Guys, if you are guitar players, yes you can do a lot of cool stuff with benders. I'm a 12 string pedal steel, 8 string lap steel and tele player with same setup as this video. The tele is a blast, but being able to swing the arms a bit out of the way is very important to me. I find the arms get in the way of normal playing and palm muting. Still, I love having them on there. I actually play with 4 steel finger picks, that REALLY gives a pedal steel vibe. I highly recommend picks or at least learning to play finger style, it's a blast! That and lot's of volume swells and you'll be amazed at what you can do! And don't be afraid to take an unused guitar, raise the action and get a steel bar and make a lap steel with benders. The round typical bar sold at every music store is perfect. The one he's using here is somewhat limiting, the ability to "slant" the bar is huge on lap steel. Now you can drop as well as raise individual notes to some degree.
@@glenhenning9261 really good advice! I think there is huge potential in benders like this. I hope to get time to play with my bender-equipped tele more in the future
Good video! Nice to know the Certano works with a G&L ASAT Classic, too!
Great lesson! My band is starting to play this song and your lesson was immensely and immediately helpful to me. You are a great teacher. You might want to get that fret rattle on your low E checked.
try tuning down a 1/2 step and playing the "Bb min" on the 6th fret! the first part of the middle solo will then sound just like the record with a D min "cowboy" cord fingering. You might like it?
Great lesson and well played
Me and the bois Whaling of the New Zealand coast:
Thanks for posting your video of the Certano bender. I'm seeing a lot of cool videos about this product, but have some questions that don't seem to get addressed: 1. As the G and B strings no longer route through the body, do you notice a difference in tension or tone? 2. Do conventional finger string bends feel different on the G or B string? 3. Does the Certano bender add much weight? 4. When you move the pitch bending "arms" out of the way, can you palm mute like you would on a conventional Tele? I'm concerned about having to adjust my right hand when the arms are moved away.
If you install it correctly you shouldn't notice a difference on the B and G as to tone or feel. Bends feel pretty much the same (in my opinion). The extra weight isn't noticeable, really. And palm muting feels just the same, once you've folded the arms out of the way. However! I should mention that I don't use the tele with the benders as my main guitar, and if I did I might have more complaints. I use it for recording, and if I use it live I will use it for one or two songs and then go back to my main guitar. Keeping the benders in tune is something you need to pay attention to, and you have to tweak one or the other adjusting screws now and again. They are hex screws, but you can just hand adjust them rather than using a hex wrench. All in all it's a clever and useful device, and I suppose some people would use it more than I do.
@@barthydemusic thanks for your reply. I ordered one and look forward to checking it out. The ability to restore the guitar to stock, if needed, takes all the risk out of trying it.
If I want to replace bridge pickup for mini humbaker (size as single coil) , what model you can suggest please? Thanks
I actually did that on my Fender Strat, and it would work on the G & L just as well. I swapped in a Seymour Duncan Lil '59, and I love it. It balances in volume quite well with the single coils.
@@barthydemusic in position 2 it is humbaker + middle or split humbaker +middle?
@@alexgochman6654 The Lil' 59 doesn't have 4-conductor wiring, so as far as I know you can't split the coils. It definitely gets some of that position 2 quack, though!
This Cat rocks!!!
suggestion, ALWAYS name the key the song is in.
A very good idea. Thanks!
@@barthydemusic thank YOU!
Thanks so much for this. You sound fantastic! I just picked up the harmonica and my first was the SWAN Blues C Key 10 Hole, It has a more muffled noise and less of a 'fuzzy' kind of resonance to it. My second was the Fender C, which sounds noticeably better and fuller. I was looking for a comparison between the brands as I want to pick up an F next, but the order wouldn't get to me in time so I wanted to know how the Fender series stacks up for others. I quite like my C, G, and A, so I think it'll be a good bet. I'd hate to pick up a more expensive one and have it sound nearly exactly the same. Also, the Special 20 D is probably the best one I got and it just sounds really amazing. As much as I have to compare it to anyway, the notes are full and loud but all in tune. I'd definitely sign off on more of that if the price wasn't an issue for me.
Can't go wrong with the Hohner Special 20, but I think the Fender Blues Deluxe is damn good for a more reasonable price. That is the only Fender harp I've tried, but I would buy one again.
@@barthydemusicI just got an East top 008K in lieu of the Special 20, just to see if the price difference would make an improvement over the sound quality. But, I'm cheap, so I wasn't about to chance 50$ on something that could very well not be better than the fender! Fortunately the 008k was only about 10$ more and with a great reputation of being a sleeper hit in terms of harmonicas, from what I've seen. It sounds fantastic. Nice and heavy in my hand, sturdy and loud and clear. Its easier to bend the notes and draw than the fender too, as if the holes are less congested. The improvement the Fender has over the Swan are just apparent with the East Top over the Fender. Now I'm looking for a good Low C. I had to return my Lee Oscar as the 4 and 5 draw were horribly out of tune, but just about every other option for it is up there in price. For my penny pinching, it seems like Seydel will be the only game in town. Hopefully they'll be better than the Lee Oscar - which was great aside from those 4 and 5 draws.
@@MrOnepiece14 Cool, I haven't tried an East Top yet! Thanks for the info!

Why would anyone want a Burns to sound like a Stratocaster?
I feel ya 👌
I have watched 4 videos, so far, on this solo, and this is the best lesson!
Thanks!
The only reason I’m thinking of taking mine back is BECAUSE the V neck hurts my thumb! Can I sand it down? There is a metal body 14 fretter from Recording King Guitars that I am waiting on called the Swamp Dog. The UA-cam demos look and sound great. It’s just that they are so heavy! Lol You will do well with your resonator…I can tell! Thanks! 😊
I'm not crazy about the sharp V neck either! I don't if I have the skill to sand it down without destroying it, though.😬 I hope the Recording King works for you. I have one of their lap steel guitars and like it.
Thanks Bart. Very well done, one of my favorites.
I am not good at keys at all so this will be a challenge
Musicians Friend just tried to whip the same game on me. I bought the H7 online and the next day they said they were going to ship mine from a Dallas Guitar Center but not in a Sire box. I remember seeing your video. They said it was a floor model. I told them send me one from the Musicians Friend warehouse. I said it was wrong to sell me a demo guitar as new. We’ll see.
A floor model should be identified as such, and discounted! Good luck with it.
