@@granddred Romania and Netherlands alone have enough gas reserves for the whole of Europe to last decades. More EU investment is required to tap into them however, but the EU is using this crisis to steer away from fossil fuels and invest into renewable even more.

If we look at Russia's progress in the past 11 months of war... Russia will be able to reach Dnipro in 2049. But if we look at the current trend, taking Russian retreats into account, Ukraine will be in Moscow in three years.

@@MrDomingo55 No, it aged wonderfully. The world does not want Russian gas. It is only Germany that is having some concerns in regards to gas, while the rest of Europe have quickly found alternatives. And the Russian Ruble's value is being boosted at the expense of the Russian manufacturing sector, now instead leaving Russia dependent on the service economy that now can't be supplied by anything but China. Meaning Russia is now becoming dependent on China, ironically.

Perhaps you live in Norway so maybe you are insulated from these price rises. Your friends in EU may not be so lucky. How many of EU metal smelters will survive this? What about large factories employing millions of people? Norway has invested its oil and gas profits wisely while your partners in UK have fritted it away. Suppose EU decides that all that money Norway has stashed away should be socialised and shared out to needy Europeans? Just like they did with Russian money. There is a saying, what's good for goose is good for the gander.

Over 90% of my country is run via district heating. I don't live in Norway. I live in a country with no oil, no gas, or any other natural resources aside from the fish in the sea and the growth of the soil I live on. My country also have no mountains, no minerals to mine, nothing of the sort. My country has less than the UK, Netherlands, Finland or any other country with any natural resources. Yet we are one of the wealthiest and most developed countries in Europe, with no reliance on gas or oil. So tell me, what threat is the lack of Russian gas to my country, that already uses zero Russian gas? When Germany was building its pipelines with Russia, we demanded that the pipeline stayed out of our national territory, because we wanted nothing to do with it. And yet we thrive. So tell me. What threat is the lack of Russian gas to a country that has lived for all eternity without Russian gas?
