I help teach visually impaired people technology and other tools.
At the age of 16, a condition called LHON caused me to become legally blind (20/800 vision) and lose all my central vision. I have faced many doubts and challenges, but through the power of technology I have been able to accomplish many things. I graduated university magna cum laude in just 3.5 years with my degree in marketing and worked in digital marketing after graduating. I have grown a huge passion for using cameras to clearly capture the world around me and share that perspective with others. I have gained experience in accessibility through research studies and working as an accessibility tester.
Through my expeirence, skills, and passions I want to use this channel to empower the blind community through technology and work with technology companies to help them make their products more accessible.

Love this
Dude, stop feeling sorry for yourself. Stop adding up your drama.
With Android you get more choice
Where can I get help setting up an iPhone for my 85 year old father, who is significantly visually impaired .
i used both iphone n a pixel phone for a month each in 2023 n much prefer the android pixel phone, seriously superior for my blindness. if u hav friends or fam upgrading to newer phones, get a 1 mo actvation on their old phone n really use it every day, then decide for yourself imho. good luck everyone!
The thing is though iPhones are amazing don’t get me wrong I used to be a core apple user but then I discovered software that it’s for android that basically changes the UI to make it really really good FOR VI it’s called septic but that’s not how it spelt. I can’t spell it properly because I’m using dictate.
Hi Blake, I’m happy to see this content here on UA-cam, thank you for sharing your insight and expertise. I’m here to learn how I can help an elderly family member use more accessible tools. I hadn’t thought of the iPhone, although she has been able to use an iPad. This is technology I will have to learn myself so that I can help her navigate through a steep learning curve to make her world more accessible. Your channel will help me do that, thank you.
No problem, glad I could help!
Can you use just one single AirPod because I can’t figure out how you would use too especially if you’re blind trying to walk down the street because you’d still have to hear traffic and stuff
you can use just one or you can use transparency mode and be able to hear your surroundings hwile still having both in your ears.
😊
Thanks. It's always nice seeing new content from you.
Try pixel 8
Are you refering to the Super Bowl Ad?
More people need to see this! A lot of people are very hateful of AI, because it threatens their career, but we need to be aware of people who NEED this kind of technology, and not be so ableist when we form our opinions.
Absolutely, although there are risks that need to be addressed, there are many positives that we can focus on.
can you give any advice on how to get into digital accessibility for beginners
Here is a video I did on that topic. Hope that helps. Let me know if you have any other specific questions! ua-cam.com/video/irbE9QHCIpM/v-deo.html
Thanks for this info! I always enjoy your content. You mentioned Siri and ....Amazons thing? Oh ya Alexa. But do you know if Android is equal or even has something like Siri. I won't use Amazons stuff and I left Apple awhile ago and went Samsung. I think Android/Google has something like Siri but don't know what it's called and do you think it's just as good as Apples stuff?
Thanks for the comment and glad you enjoy my videos! What kind of videos would you like to see more from my channel? Android phones and Google products have Google Assistant, which from my understanding people say is better than Siri in terms of it being more knowledgeable since it can access Google's wealth of information. But based on user experience, Siri is still quite popular.

What’s the difference between iPhone 12 Pro Max and iPhone 15 follow vision?
What do you mean by "follow vision"?
Thanks….helpful…reassuring
Glad it was helpful!
You did not compare with any other devices. This is more of a tutorial or commercial for the air pod pro. Not helpful at all.
A flip phone is the best for a phone and a iPhone the best for a ipod
Tech companies need to do more product testing with people who have various accessibility issues. Maybe they already are, but I am skeptical. My mom is low vision, and her eyesight is worsening along with her cognitive abilities. So many products miss the mark.
Thanks for sahring your experience. Accessibility is a slow moving psoitive progress, but definitely needs feedback from more users.
I agree. When I began to lose my sight in my left eye I could still use my iPhone because of its accessibility features. My son is hearing impaired and he uses bilateral cochlear implants to assist him to hear. He swears by iPhone and says he will never use any other operating system because he can listen to music as if he had airpods. He can talk on the phone. Etc.
The IPhone can do so much, I’ve Ben an IPhone user for 10 Years.
Thanks for sharing your experience!
Just bought iPhone pro max 13. I like it BUT in Costa Rica where I live, all over Europe and South America we use the chat app WhatsApp. Voice over will not read the chats. I have spoken to both Apple and WhatsApp but there are too few of us dependent on voice over to coordinate their system with iOS.
That's interesting. I have been able to use VoiceOver with WhatsApps. Not sure what is causing the issue. This is Apple's accessibility support number if you wanted to reach out there to get help. (877) 204-3930
😢 most people can't afford a phone like that
If you actually show how to use the features you talk about that would be more helpful than just hearing you say there are things that help- what things / apps & hoe do you use them?
Happy to answer more specifically. Is there are certain app or task you were curious about?
Awesome presentation regarding different employment prospects
Thanks!
Very informative and knowledgeable😂
Glad to hear!
I switched from iPhone to Android and I absolutely love the experience, especially the application lookout
Glad to hear the transition has gone well. I have heard good things about that app!
Thanks. I decided to switch back to iPhone due to the new Be My AI feature. It is really really good, better than Lookout. And, I just found a great street crossing application on iOS.
Nice! What do you like about BeMyEyes new AI feature? Also is the street crossing app OKO?
@@AdaptingSight yes. I like the feature as well, because it gives you a long description as opposed to other applications, which just give you short descriptions of photos.
That's fantastic!! It's so incredibly important to really have quality training for our community. There's so much information out there, but often we have to hunt it down and find it from so many different sources. I love the idea behind Clusiv! I'll have to reach out and see if I can get an interview for my podcast/channel. Thanks for sharing!
I totally agree! I will reach out through your website to get connected about that!
Bro sounds like there's a apple rep with a gun behind the camera 😂
How easy are they to use with an iphone? My best friend is blind and walks all over her neighborhood with her guide dog. I want to get her a pair of ear buds so she can talk on the phone without having to take it out and manipulate it. Would these work well for that? How do you manage answering calls, making calls, calling up Siri, sending texts?
They are very easy to use with an iPhone. To take a call you just click the stem of the earbud to anser the call, or use siri. YOu can click the stem to play and pause music, and just say "Hey siri" to do many other commands. The transparency mode is really helpful when walking around outside.
How do you get the chime when charging or done charging?
I belive you can click on your airpods in bluetooth settings to change sound notifications but what I do is I turn my phone on, then open up the airpods case, then a banner on the bottom ofo the screen appears and shows the battery percentage.
Also, thanks for the links and ideas
Of course happy to help!
Thank you so much. It inspired me to look into the possibility of employment or at least connections for me and my visually impaired son (Who is also in marketing and project management). Great presentation😊

Thank you for your videos. I am 58 years old and have been legally blind since I was 15. There were no technologies available when I was a young man. I would like to offer some advice... you should do more videos like this . On the actual technology . You will also get many more views if the videos are kept short as this one is . Also , I am not a UA-camr but I do notice many more views on videos when the name of the video uses a common noun. Show your technologies and how they operate . Offer your honest opinion about them .I'm sure you watch blind life on UA-cam . He is great don't get me wrong . But it would be great to see other people's opinions on the same technologies . Good luck from a subscriber !!!
Thanks, I really appreciate your comment and support! That is good feedback and I will definitely keep that in mind. Are there any specific topics you would like to see more videos about?
@@AdaptingSight any assistive technologies I apologize I am having trouble with narrator as we speak. Speaking of this, operating programs for PC's.
@@cannfamtube Thanks for sharing. Do you just use Narrator or also JAWS or NVDA?
@@AdaptingSight Narrator only. I had zoomtext since 2001, I ran it for over 20 years . I have recently moved . I live in the woods now off the grid . Narrator seems to have a lot of hiccups!
@@cannfamtube Thanks for sharing. Yea Narrator is still improving to get more on par with JAWS, which you have to pay for, or NVDA, which is free.
hi, can these, or any other apps be used offline? my dad has itouch but refuses to get wifi, he has internet through broadband so he can get online, but im looking for something he can use at home and out and about that do not require internet
All the features that I shared such as magnification, VoiceOver, the magnifier, and camera all work online. Some apps on your phone will not work offline though and you will need an internet or wifi connection. Were there any other specific apps or features you were curious about if they work offline?
@@AdaptingSight ok thanks for the info. im just looking for something that can tell him colors and magnify letters when hes not home, hes able to connect wireless devices to his broadband through blutooth but needs something for when hes out and about.
@@shaunasilver9545 an app like Seeing AI can help with color recognition and also text and it is free and doesn't require internet. The built in magnifier app or just the camera app on the iPhone work great!
I absolutely love my AirPods Pro! The second generation also chimes when charging which is something the first generation didn't have an a welcome edition if you can't see the LED indicator.
That is awesome! It is very frustrating when devices only show charging status by color.
As someone with a little more than light perception, I literally use cameras from the moment I wake up to the moment I go to bed. I use cameras to read papers and packaging. I use cameras to read money. Are use cameras to tell me if there is light and the color of different objects. I also use various cameras throughout my smart home along with facial recognition to see who is at my front door. And as a blind UA-camr, I use cameras to create content and make a living!
That is so awesome! Always exciting to connect with others that feel the same way about cameras! Thanks for sharing.
is this a joke
Nope, cameras have become a big passion since my vision loss. If you are curious to learn more about it, check out this playlist ua-cam.com/play/PLJ6DRL47MTQXE1fM709RALo8QKMLINky1.html
Thanks for your thoughts on this. As an older Deaf-Blind person (wear CI and not totally blind) I gave up on ever finding a job I loved. All my previous jobs were just the kind of, who would be willing to hire me. Which was practically no one. So I quit trying 10+ yrs ago. But lately now that I'm older and bored I've been thinking perhaps things have changed. Especially with the huge change in how people work (at home and using tech). Perhaps I should give it a go. Plus I'm so much better off them most becaiuse I don't need to work. I'll be working for fun, not income. I think I will give your suggestions on this app/company a try. Thanks so much and as always love your content.
Of course, thank you for sharing your thoughts and perspective! That is tough to hear about your career journey but if you ever have any questions about Clusiv or any tech/employment stuff, let me know!
Always love your passion and drive Blake!
Thanks Neil, appreciate your support!

That is cool. I am visually impaired myself. I have actually always thought about how interesting it might be to set up a camera to see things the way that I do. So that normal folks might understand my situation.
