Damn woman, you know your shit I Know it’s kinda weird but I love the accent. I spent a few years in Adelaide with some very good family friends and would love to make it back someday. Anyway, sorry for the essay, but keep up the good work on the videos , very informative to people looking into new sighting systems . Convinced me to get a prism due to my astigmatism (even at 34), it’s been a good quick optic with very few issues. Looking into lvpos now so we shall see. Maybe i’ll just get a solid magnifier and maybe a canted red dot. Anyways cheers, good shit!

In my green dot sights I see a small squiggly horizontal line instead of a dot. The camera on my phone sees a dot, so I know it's me and not the sights. I don't use the sights to attempt sub MOA groups, I have scopes for that, so the sights still function for my purposes.

All this time I thought I had the Romeo5, but when ever I saw it in a UA-cam video it wouldn’t match what I had. I figured it was just a generational change, but I just looked on the side of the optic and turns out I have the MSR. Now I’m kind of paranoid about what the box says. I’ll have to check that out😮

I bought one of these on Amazon for $20 same model for my tm22 works great on this gun and is very budget friendly just like the gun so it does have its place. Of If I were to get a red dot for a defense or hunting gun I would spend a lot more but it’s great for small .22 and other guns

Very informative video that helped me solve my dilemma of 8x42 or 10x42 , after having my binoculars for over 40 years they unfortunately developed a mold growing in the internal lenses so I dismateled them and cleaned the lenses and prisim However the diopiter thread was worn out. So I treated myself to a brand new pair of 10x42 for bird watching and general observations such as watching the ships sail up the forth. Thanks for this video, I will have many enjoyable days on my walks with my new binoculars. 🤩👍

I have the B.1 and saving for the B6. Regarding tripod adapters, if I am spending $1000 x2 and then $500 on a tripod and head, then I will spend $100 and get an "ideal" adapter. No pliers for me.

If you wear contacts, ask your eye care professional about Toric contact lenses for astigmatism. I now see a single, crisp dot. Well worth the slight premium cost over regular contact lenses. They also improve your night driving sight vision from headlight glare.

I really appreciate this video, thanks for this. After a few years of western hunting I've found I really don't care for spotting scopes for that use, much too narrow for finding game at even a mile. I'm leaning towards these for tripod and some carry use. I've actually become reliant on my 6x rangefinder for woods use with my grimy 10x binos, so 6 or 7 by 30 are probably on the list too. But I'm thinking 12x50 on a tripod is going to be where it's at for most hunting. 10x might be a smarter all-rounder but that 20% more magnification makes a huge difference to me at 500y+.

9:30 What appears to be pixelation on holographic sights are not pixels and it is not constructed of pixels at all. The pixelated, grainy appearance is caused by the speckling diffusion of laser light. Because laser light is spectrally pure (very little shift in wavelength), it is possible for it to undergo destructive interference if the oscillation of the wavefront of two instances meet AND are not only no longer in phase but also at opposite ends of them. The waves are in phase when they are all at the same point of their oscillation. Because it is all from the same original wavelength (and source, just 1 laser diode), and all of the light initially was in phase, if 2 wavefronts meet while one wave at its peak, and the other is at it's peak but in the opposite end of it's oscillation the light wave does not just shift in brightness and amplitude but instead cancels entirely. That's why the grainy appearance is there. The space between what appears to be dots are areas where destructive interference was complete instead of just less bright. This isn't due to imperfection in the recording though. It is that the initially coherent (same wavelength AND in phase) light can begin to interfere with itself in spots after being incident upon the physical hologram. The result is spots where constructive or destructive interference happens before it reaches the eye. _Hell, it actually can happen in the eye too, up until it actually contacts the retina._ It can happen anywhere between those 2 points. This is what causes the speckling, grainy pattern you tend to see when anything is illuminated by laser light, not just holograms even when in focus. It is essentially unavoidable to an extent. You can sort of compensate for it by just having more of the laser light in the first place to just saturate it with so much light areas of constructive interference end up overlapping spots that also had light that was previously canceled by destructive interference. It is an unavoidable phenomenon in holography. The main thing is that there is no pixels about it, during manufacturing the reticle shape is recorded by exposing the photosensitive holographic medium (EOTECH used to use Silver Halide Holographic Plates but I believe they switched a different material now. I do not know what Vortex is using.) to laser light either through a cut out of the desired reticle shape or by illuminating a flat 2D image of the reticle shape. At the same time, a divergent beam is okay this is probably getting too technical. Anyway, the take away is there are no pixels at all or else magnifying a holographic sight would result in even worse pixelation instead of cleaning it up even further. Holograms are actually nearly perfect recordings of the light field they were exposed to, down to a microscopic level. This includes, actually, the spatial information of how far away it was from the recording medium. The EOTECH reticle is recorded at about 35 meters away if I remember right. However, since it is reconstructed in the sight with a collimated beam it gets focused to infinity instead. The blurry, fuzzy (separate from the grainy, pixelated) appearance is only apparent when the eye is focused at _very near distances,_ like 1 foot or so away. Focus the eyeball any distance beyond that focal plane and the reticle should lose the blurriness at all other focal planes as it is focused out to infinity. Hope that helped!

Great explanation ! The comment section variety demonstrates peoples missing an intention. The target audience are new to optical sight shooters. I'll add, larger moa dots are designed for closer distance and quicker dot pick up as in self defense/rapid handgun use. My question is, would you scale the ranges for each sighting types ? Example: 6moa for handgun at <30 feet, 3moa at <150 feet, circle/2moa <300 feet, circle/1moa <200 yards, etc. Past 200 yards gets into particulars of calibers, trajectories, windage, etc. (Just spitballing here ... )

8X42 offer a better field of view, a large exit pupil for low light and a greater depth of field. If a person wants 10x, they should get a 10x50 which will offer an exit pupil and low light performance similar to the 8x.

"Overkill for just those recreational purposes." at 6:20. LOL. The instrument will last 20 years or more making these binoculars great value for money. After about 20 years with a pair of 10x25 Ultravid's that have travelled the world with me, I wanted a full-sized pair for bird watching and general use. Buy once, cry once. I especially appreciate there was no case or bag; I have enough bags and inserts (Billingham, Crumpler, LowePro, Domke, etc.) I really like the optics and performance. But the branding is overkill! Five logos or other branding. One please. I'm templed by the B6 12x50 as there are whale migrations in my neighbourhood; that is, up and down the Gold Coast, QLD. And many thanks for these videos.
