Fly fishing, amateur mycology, and other random hobbies.
As the Wind Over the Prairie is Free
so too is this video when it comes to making any orderly sense. Shortnose gar, Lake Red Rock, Gymnopus dryophilus, and Robinia pseudoacacia are all involved without any clear reason why.

Oru Kayak Lake Maiden Voyage

Fly fishing for crappie in my new Oru Kayak, Lake. A little slower and more delicate than a rotomolded plastic kayak, but super light and portable at only 18 lbs. and it folds up so it doesn't need to be lifted onto a car top rack.

Some boring cancer talk starts the video off, then cooking a vegan dish, moong dal and paratha, a look at the chunky mechanics of a 250 grain microskagit rig and winding down with some drone footage around lake Red Rock.

OG checking in on the Python reference. Edit. OK Iowa. Looked it up. That water all feeds into the Mississipi yeah? I have a bucket list dream of a trip up or down that river. Nice wetlands, good looking country. And... Respect your catch and release in this day and age, but; are those Gar native or introduced? and, are they good eating? Good video to watch. Greetings from Oz. 1 new sub for ya.
Really cool video!
What type of fly are you using? When I’m out I stop at least in one spot loaded with gar. Looks fun so might give it a whirl
The fly is usually a piece of plastic tube from a cotton swab. I dress it with bucktail. The tippet goes through a bead (if I want any weight) then through the tube, and then ties onto a size 10 treble hook, usually with the barbs crushed down and also dressed with a pinch of bucktail.
Great fishing video! Looks like a lot of fun. Lots of truth in the opening statements too.
💕Wow💜💜💜💜💜🤍💜💜💜
Loved that cleat water 💧
