can I just make a Searies or 1w Led to make 12v and directly light up on a 12V car battery instead of using diode to convert the voltage?
you ALWAYS need to power (any) led’s with the right CURRENT, the voltage comes next. This means that you might consider connecting some adding up their own voltage (4x3,3=13,2 Volts which will work perfectly on 12 Volt power supply. Or connect 3 leds to a 9 Volt powersupply (battery). Any use or resistors makes current go lost, and warm the resistors up unnecessarily.

as soon as you calculate the number of leds as close as power voltage you want to use a low resistor value, so using four leds on an old car battery may just need a 5 or 10 Ohm resistor (1/2 watt). So 4 leds will need about 13 Volt, which is near enough to battey voltage, just use that 5 ohm resistor anyway 😉
