You need to set your inputs/outputs. Open up the preferences menu and it's right there. Get Asio4All (lowest latency) and install it. Select the interface as the input and headphones as output in the drop down Asio4All menu, and you should definitely start seeing a wave file when you hit record. You might have a bit of variation, but it will be something generic like "USB Sound card" to select. I really hope this helps.
