love and nostalgia is a crazy thing ain’t it, people love to turn a blind eye to a lot of things, i’m just saying but spitting hateful racist and xenophobic rhetoric is preeetty baaaaaddd and i personally wouldn’t want to be associated with anyone that does that. on another note, great video, i can’t imagine how much hours went into making it, very interesting as an internet history piece, cheff kiss 🤌

ok. I have to ask, what was that banger at the end of the video, the John Arin remix?

This video is very interesting and appreciated that it went through the logistics of the timeline with Danny showing up. I did feel like it was too much of an Jon apologist at times, handwaving some of Jon's shitty behavior and coming down on Arin for trying to run a business that is important to him. Arin is not above criticism and made questionable decisions, but this video came off as way less understanding of his point of view

Honestly I feel like the way Jon kept denying it and denying it every time and saying I can't say anything but... Either just actually say what you can say which is "It was a business so there was an NDA" or just leave it alone until you can say something. But to comment everytime they when after game grumps but it wasn't you being gone after. Its really malicious. Showed his personality. I understand if you feel wronged but either say your peace and leave it alone after that, or just say nothing at all until you can say everything.

I prefer Arin over Jon. After Jon came out as problematic it was even better to know Arin was free of him. Danny and Ross are so much more fun than Jon. Yes they had creative differences but… racism is included too.

to be fair to 2017 jontron in that debate with destiny he was talking about the fbi 2016 crime statistics that do show what he was saying he just did a bad job at explaining it.

Lol Jirard the completionist disavowing Jontron’s ~words~ while actively embezzling charity donations and people’s hard-work in the name of cancer research is golden. I think people really need to understand that most people who throw stones forget they live in glass houses.

We can call them creative differences, but the scrubbing of bad press, the sudden departure, the sudden new cohosts, arin quoted as growing an empire out of spite, the cold reactions towards mentioning Jon at all were gross, arin initially being against any drugs or alcohol, moments in recordings where Jon is definitely drinking/drunk, Arin pushed Jon out and eventually incorporated the very habit of drinking into game grumps. It wasnt ever a career for anyone else they worked with who all disappeared over time (barry, ross, kevin, etc). I enjoy grumps but enjoy oney plays more because its the chaotic improv of jon era and the quiet bad taste grumps left in the mouth

i enjoy watching these kinda documentary videos, and this is very well made. i like that it mostly stays neutral on the topics, but i gotta be honest, you can tell a lot of these videos are made by the jon-era fans, and they have a pretty big bias that leaks through. specifically at 40:15, what's this stuff about game grumps "not doing what it used to"?? in my opinion, arin and dan's chemistry is better than ever, their videos are way more natural and have way more laugh-out-loud bits than in the early era. yes, they rake in fewer views than they used to, but those viewers are also extremely loyal. game grumps as a company can consistently expect to get 200k views per video, which for daily videos is great, and far from doing bad for themselves, as the video suggests. i saw the same thing happen with smosh when anthony left and i always feel talked down to as a fan of the later stuff. i understand why people liked the jon era and why they hold on to it dearly, but i wish people were more conscious about when their love for a thing manifests in downplaying other fans. just let sleeping dogs lie

You know what's interesting my favorite game grumps episodes with Danny are the ones where he plays old dos games in long play sessions. He's so much more interesting by himself and even if he uses walkthroughs his nostalgia for the games was what brought me in

Just saying, Jirard getting upset at Jons statement is pretty ironic. Especially you saying Jirard felt personally attacked by the statement. Not saying what Jon said is right but just claiming "If you throw a rock into a pack of dogs, the one who yelps is the one who got hit."

I have a theory that when GameGrumps decides end things (on their terms of course) they’re going to have a giant celebration for their time on the internet and then go to sign off when Jon bursts through the door to the recording studio telling “What the fuck Arin I was only gone for a little while and you’re ending the show?!?!?!?” Would be the perfect ending to the channel if they decide to put it to bed 😂😂😂😂

  • @jacoba6983

arin has put his foot in his mouth a few times but he is a chill dude and just wanted different things, they could have maybe found some compromise but they decided to split. arin staying, jon leaving. was it sad? yes. but jon did fuck up following sargon of all ppl. and yes, you can judge ppls current views even if your past stuff is sus. the past is the past and if you are different from it then it matters little comparied to the current.

I seriously don't think this warrents an hour long video... Both Jon AND Aaron just said "Jon left amicably because of creative differences. Jon wanted to focus more on Jontron and couldn't do that pumping out 2-3 Game Grumps videos a day". Not trying to diminish all the work you put into this but... It's been 10 years and it was just creative differences at the end of the day. No need to stir up drama that was squashed YEARS ago

  • @cecilkynes5261

As a long time Grumps fan, I know I'm obviously a little biased but I do think it's disingenuous to paint Arin as some kind of controlling boss. I think it comes down to one party taking something more seriously than another. Arin saw Game Grumps as a business, Jon saw it as a side project. Neither are wrong, they just had different approaches. In short, creative differences.

  • @Jizzfrosti

It certainly wasn’t over his,uh, political views because Arin is also a massive racist who probably agrees with Jon on just about everything. Shit there are entire chunks of game grumps episodes they just fully edit out because arin was talking about black people

Man its so wild watching this video knowing everything that happened later, seeing Holly and Ross dancing together now we know about the Projarad situation, The Completionist has since pulled off a huge charity scam (intentionally or not), honestly as the years go on, every "youtuber power group" seems more like a viper pit waiting to bite

Grew up watching JonTron; never watched GameGrumps. Sure, Jon has said some wild shit in the past, but I don't think he's the horrible person people make him out to be. Sounds like "Arin" is similar to Ian from Smosh; he chose the brand and his public image over his friend. I'm #JonGang all the way

I can understand the difficulties of working with friends and then having to separate making things hard to handle but I swear if they just took it reasonably at the start instead of being so weird this would have been avoided. Everyone's confused because they were being weird about it and it turned out to be nothing. I know that Jon has some bad opinions and all but I have also felt strangely about Egoraptor tbh. Dan is fine though.

There is one problem with the girlfriend story. He made the comment in a video where he said he never took anyone hiking with him. So if he never took anyone that would include her, and if that is the case her story could be made up. I do think he found what he was searching for and shouldn't have been there.

I’m guessing Arin wanted to make it into an actual company or LLC but Jon didn’t want to commit to that. Jon probably want to grow his own LLC Jon Tron and be a singular earner as apposed to being a partner in Game Grumps. The reason they don’t talk about it is probably the legality behind this decision. I’m not sure if NDAS are involved as I don’t think they had that much money to enforce this kind of thing.

@@johnolmos8670 I remember Barry openly saying he left GG because he didn't like the direction the channel was headed, with marketing Dan and Arin specifically rather than it being about anyone else involved. I think Arin became a businessman about this shit right away and a lot of the folk in his past saw through it.
