I left an abusive relationship 3 years ago now. I was in it for 4 years and some days I am coming to terms with the reality of what I dealt with and how painful it was and how drastically it changed me forever. It’s something I will have to work to heal every day for the rest of my life, and one of the things that kept me going in my darkest days, was this video. I would cry and cry on the balcony at 3am alone, telling myself I was useful. I deserve to be heard. And that I wasn’t put here to make everyone’s lives easier and to accept abuse. I would watch this over and over and over and feel so empowered. I knew I could leave. I knew I could do it, and I wasn’t stupid. I find myself again, at 2330 hours, in tears feeling defeated. Afraid of the future, unsure of my housing situation, trying to save my pets, trying to figure out who I am in this world and what my purpose is - what do I really wanna do for a living? I feel especially forgotten today, but I remembered this video and came back. It will always be my little special reminder to keep going. That I am strong enough to, and brave enough.
