People always put such useless stuff here. I'm no different. I am a father of 4, live and work with technology, love social media and marketing, fight for science, and dabble in too many subjects to count. I live and work in Nanaimo, BC.
Audyssey One is a Game Changer! It will blow your mind!
Audyssey One by Obsessive Compulsive Audiophile is an amazing script that uses the Audyssey mobile app, REW and its API, Dr. Floyd Toole’s target curve, and some JavaScript to put together the best calibration I have ever heard in my system! You have to try it out!

Thx great. I have a question. why does my multeq editor app (for android) not work when i import file into this app , always show me “The specified file is not located in the device‘s local storage or is not a proper curve file."
Is this better than Dirac live I’m using audsey 4800h. Denon I have the app
Nice Video Reed! 1. Can the Audyssey One be setup to give a person even bass response in every chair or seat in a room? 2. Can the Audyssey One be setup to give a person even bass response in every chair even if you have three rows of seating? 3. Is the Audyssey One also compatible with and work on the Emotiva and Monoprice Home Theater Processors? 4. Is the Audyssey One also compatible with and work on Emotiva Receivers?
Buddy the problem is that it calibrate only until 250 hz and not all the speaker why???? 😢😢😢
Great job. Should you level match speakers after complete or leave speaker level settings as is
Did anybody make changes to their crossovers and size of speakers after running the A1 Evo? I’m asking because of the THX recommendations. Thanks
I did it with the forcing option but it wasnt better - only what u have to do is to read and follow the log file recommended tasks. In my case I had to flip the phase.
The one thing that Audyssey One just like other room correction software doesn't solve is the fact that you are stuck having to use a generic target curve for your particular room and speakers. Every room is different and you need a correction software that can create the target curve for your room and speakers based on your room acoustics and characteristics. This is where True Target shines and delivers. True Target has taken my home theater to a whole new level.
It don't works without a subwoofer
Work this with a 5.0 System? I have no Subwoofer because of neighbours.
No. I’ve also neighbours but u also have in more modern Marantz the option that the LFE will be controlled not to go through walls.
Please help. I processed for the newer a1 evo and it finished all the way except it didn't make a new ady file for me to send back. I only have a data file saved. Any sugestions?
Read the logfile - there will be an info why it stopped.
@randyrevak5085 0 seconds ago I would really like to try this, but for some reason I can't get past the upload. I have the file saved from the mobile app, I choose it after hitting up load but I never get the prompt to allow downloading of multiple files. In the readout below, it says that it received the file. Are you doing anything special to the file before you save it?
I originally assumed this was a method for using your own UMIK-1 mic and sweeps from within REW to then create curves to pass into the Audyssey app. Is that still a possible method?
Thanks for this, followed it and it worked great apart from not knowing the .ady file auto saved somewhere and uploading it back into the Audyssey app had a couple of issues but after reading the posts on here managed to sort. Can i ask is it ok afterwards to add some dB's to some of the speakers. My centre channel for instance needs a few more so the other speakers don't become too loud when there is action in a movie and also i had to trim the subwoofer slightly as i turned on DEQ afterwards, cheers
Do you prefer Audyssey One or A1-Evo?
Too much hype. Not that good. Dirac still did better
Better have for that cost. I’ve got plenty of very happy users. Sorry it didn’t produce as good results for you. What was your biggest complaint?
Thank you for putting this together! Your video gave me the confidence to give this a try. Does your tutorial change much with the new A1 - Evo? I'm very new to calibration and I find your video much easier to follow than Obsessive's. No knock on him, his work is amazing, but he goes very fast and as a beginner, I tend to get lost.
@ReedBotwright Thank you!! Does it matter what the 'Target type' drop down is set to in the Target Settings of the EQ window in REW?
Hi, i wanna why after i use rew on the correction. When finished it never prompted me to save in. Is there i miss anything
The lack of a prompt at the end could mean that it automatically put it in your Downloads folder/section of your browser. Check there!
I need to manually save in my android phone. But I can export in my multi eq app. It say wrong formation. And 1 of my friend did redo again and send me via email. From my email I can't save it. 🥲
Hi Reed ! I dont know whats happening with my results, but every time I run Audyssey one, the new curve makes the sound unlistenable... The sound gets so thin, unbalanced and uneven... The result is awful.
Are you running Evo or the old script? You could try using different curves like the old Toole one.
Will this work with an older Marantz processor with built in Audussey calibration? I need a real basic diy on how you go about doing this
I have put a list of supported AVRs in the video description. It is a list based on the receivers supported by the Audyssey MultEQ Editor app. Check there as well (Apple App Store or Google Play Store) for the supported AVRs.
Google Play has this app as `MultiEQ Editor ` works fine with my Marantz SR 6012
Hi there. I encountered a problem during the optimization stage. When I click the Start optimization button, nothing happens. I only see the line "transposing measurements from "8" different microphone positions to the prime position". Nothing further happens. All steps in your manual were completed successfully. What could be the problem?
Did you turn the API on in REW? Are you now using Evo?
Not working for me. I get this warning: 15:23:11 [LOG] Applying Target Curve located @ /Users/xxxxx/Downloads/DrTooleTargetCurve.txt 15:23:11 [INFO] ************************************************************************************************************************ 15:23:11 [INFO] Optimization process started... 15:23:11 [LOG] Transposing measurements from '8' different microphone positions to the primary listening position... 15:23:26 [INFO] Based on your AVR model - Denon AVR-X2700H, speed of sound has been set to 300.0 m/s for all distance calculations. 15:23:26 [WARNING] - if you believe this setting is not correct for your receiver model, please notify OCA! I do not know what that means... 🙂
That’s just a warning. Did it proceed and finish? Have you checked out the new Evo version? It’s even better!
Reed, I followed the steps and everything ran ok, but I can't add the file back to the Audyssey Multeq app. I am getting a message saying the Audyssey One file is not a curve file.i deleted my original Audyssey App and installed the 1.7 Audeyssey App and still no dice. The file is saved to my phone (galaxy).
Are you moving back the “optimized” ADY file? Some systems also don’t like to read the files from the Downloads folder on your device. Try moving the file to the root of your device’s file system and see if you can load it.
Hello, thanks for the content! I have a problem! I do everything exactly, but after turning on the server at the stage of pressing the "start optimization" button, nothing happens! I have already tried on a MacBook Pro and on a PC with Windows, the same result. Please help!!
Did you turn on the API in REW?
@@ReedBotwright Yes of course, port 4735
Are you running it in the Chrome or Firefox (and not Safari) browsers? Do you see any progress in the black box below the optimize button?
@@ReedBotwright I use Google Chrome, progress stops at 23:30:42 [LOG] Transposing measurements from '8' different microphone positions to the primary listening position.... The only thing is when I add curves to REW a window pops up: Note that the default Mic/Meter and Soundcard Calibration files are not applied to imported impulse responses, to apply Cal Data to an imported response use the "Change cal" action on the teasurement panel.
@IRONWATER Did you up the max number of measurements in REW? Without changing their settings above the default 50 or so, not all of your measurements get imported in REW and A1 chokes up. If that’s not the case (as in you’ve already set that to 300 or so), feel free to email me you ADY file at reedbotwright @ gmail.com
Sorry, but I have to ask now: is Audessey One a big joke? - I have made a new Audessey messurement. Very careful. It sounds quite good in default state - Then I have processed the measurement with the Audessey One script, following the instructions. In my post 3 days ago I already wrote that the resulting curves look wierd to me. But nevertheless I uploaded them to my X-4800. - It sounded even worse than it looked. The LFE channel was practically disabled. Even bringing the crossover frequencies back to normal (A1 set fronts and center to all to 80Hz) an switching AutoEQ back to "on" (A1 set it to "off") did not bring much help. The sub still sounded weak and sick. This is so far away from even "acceptable", this must be bad by intention. So please confirm, I am almost sure: A1 is a joke, right? The theory already sounded implausible (some magical script brings every measurement for every setup to god level in 3 simple steps) and now practical experience confirms: It's a joke made for newbies like me, right? 😅 😅
Unfortunately, there appears to be a small minority of users who have mixed or poor results from this script. The foundations of how this script works are very sound. I don’t go into them a whole lot here as my focus is to help people through the process, but OCA does a better job in his video. You can also directly investigate the code to see what is happening. All that being said, it’s a hack. The script tries to take advantage of the processing power of REW and stuff its results into the Audyssey format (that’s why the curves look weird). It gets it very right a remarkable amount of time, but unfortunately not 100% of the time. I’m more than happy to troubleshoot with you why the script may not work for you because I have directly helped scores of people and heard their praise of the results. Just let me know! It’s definitely not a joke!
@@ReedBotwright sorry for late reply, Reed. I was very frustrated when I wrote this 🫣 Some thought why it might have failed for me: - Closed, but very powerful sub (ELAC 3070) - Position not very good (rear area, midst between the rear speakers of a 7.1.2 setup - Partially optimized living room 4x6m, not a home cinema room 4 passive bass traps, 2 active bass traps (PSI AVAA) - Antimode 8033 s-lI in LFE line - LFE line partially wireless (delay?) even though the sub is only 2,5 meters away, Audessey XT32 always use the highest distance value possible. I have now eliminated many of these possible obstacles. I purchased a NUBERT XW-900 medium size open downfire sub with is small enough to fit between my front speakers (the ELAC was to gigantic for this). Wired connection, but still with Antimode (in this room, I cannot go without it) First test shows/hears an improvement compared to "before" even without A1. As soon as I have finishes initial setup with XT32, I will give A1 a 2nd chance and tell you the results. Thanks and CU later, Celsi
@@celsi5563 Thanks for the update! Yeah, we all have challenges in our setups. I have a livingroom setup too. Have you tried the new A1 Evo v1.4? It was released yesterday. It requires REW Beta 33, so keep that in mind.
@@ReedBotwright New Feedback: - Bought a new Sub (NUBERT XW-900, bass reflex, downfire, smaller size, significantly less powerful than my former, closed ELAC 3070). This smaller sub fits into the front next to the main front speakers (NUBERT 284) where sub belongs. Antimode 8033 s2 is still in use, but now LFE line is completely wired, no RF anymore. I made a new Antimode messurement, then a new Audessey meassurement and ran it through A1. Despite having read your comment about new A1evo, I used 1.3. There was an update for 1.3 one week ago, and I thought this was "evo". When I realized it wasn't, it was too late 🙂 Still, even 1.3 seems to like my new setup better now than the old one. First it sounded "terrible" again regarding the bass, but after I adjusted the crossovers back to the values which the Audessey meassurement had initially set (A1 set them all to 80Hz) and reactivated DynamicEQ (A1 deactivated it), it sounded quite good. ❔But question: is it a good idea to reverse these decisions of A1? My thought is: if I change "optimized" settings in such a drastic way, does the optimization itself still make sense? I now try to put into words which changes I noticed between standard meassurement (before) and A1 meassurement (after): - Clarity of speech has improved (very important for me, because I watch everything in EN but it is not my native language, I need to listen very careful - low freqencies were a little bit reduced. Explosions, shots, spaceship flyby sounds, all seemed to be less "grumbling" than before, less powerful. I could "fix" this with increasing LFE channel in the AVR by 2db. - Surround effects have significantly increased. The feeling of being in the middle of the action has improved. Side surround speakers and rear speakers (7.1.2 setup) are far more active than before. Is that what is to be expected from A1? I read so many happy comments about A1 having improved the sound significantly, but nobody was going into details what exactly has improved, compared to "before". Thank you for your time and patience with a beginner. P. S. After some more testing: In 3 of my 5 usual test scenarios I like the A1 calibration better than the standard calibration: - THE EXPANSE, S02E01, 1st scene, starship flyby and 2nd scene Bobby Draper battle training on Mars Later, fight between Amos and Miller in the canteen of Rocinante - THE 5th ELEMENT, main menue background sound effects - SONS OF ANARCHY S06E05: Club house explosion - INTERSTELLAR rocket lauch is still to do, for this I need to wait until my neighbors have left the house 😄 But the A1 calibration does not seem to be suitable for Music, can anybody confirm this? Sounds terrible, sounds "sqished", like mash (I hope these words make any sense in EN)
is it working with Denon AVCx3800H?
Yes, it does! Works with all AVRs that support the Audyssey MultEQ Editor mobile app on iOS or Android.
@@ReedBotwright I did it, and saved new ady file but when I tried to put it on Multeq editor app it says: "The specified file is not located in the devices local storage or is not a proper curve file"?
@@edindzk Oh, that old chestnut. That seems to be related to the location of the file. If you downloaded it to your device into the Downloads folder, this error usually goes away when you move the file to another location. Give that a try!
@@edindzk That's usually because the file is in your Downloads folder on your device. Try moving the file to another location, like the root, on your phone/tablet.
Thank you for sharing this! I just got back into to Home Theater and am starting to learn calibrating the speakers. I had done a simple calibration with the included Audyssey MULTEQ XT. The results were not that great. Then I found your UA-cam page and tried it again. The Audyssey one failed because my speakers have built in subs and I do not have a separate sub. I wired my subs in the speakers with the LFE cables and ran it once again. I was successful this time. After uploading the results it into the Denon, I did notice remarkable results but not still not the greatest. I am purchasing a calibration mic and will run it everything again through REW to compare the results. Will be interesting to see which comes out better.
Definitely let me know how it compares. The newer version is coming out soon, which may help with your subwoofer situation.
When you say your speakers have built in subs, are they powered? Also, what exactly do you mean you wired the subs with the LFE cables?
@@davidcrandon2329 Yes they are powered Speakers. They have an LFE on each speaker to wire sub into sub out in AVR
I want to try this today. I use the Apple eco system can I use Safari for this process or do I need to use Chrome? Also, will this approach work for a 5.2.0 system? Finally, does this approach work well for music listening? Thanks.
Safari doesn't seem to work with this script. We're not sure exactly why but all other major browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Edge) seem to work. I would use those instead. Also, some browsers will automatically put the results file (ADY file extension) into the Downloads location/section. If you can't find it right away, check there.
One remark/hint for Android (phone) users: - For me (Samsung S23) it was not possible to read the optimized .ady file back from the internal storage of the phone into the MultiEQ app. Regardless into which Folder I saved it (documents, downloads, DCIM). The browser of the app could find the file, but always responded with message (translated from German) : "The file does not existin your local file system or it is not a real 😊 Audessey file". Solution for me was to activate Google Drive (never needed to before) and then move the .ady file to Google Drive - then the MultiEQ app was able to read it from there. This workaround costed me > 1 hour and now it's too late to make sound tests in an apartment house 😮. Tomorrow we go into vacation, so it will be some days until I can test the result. But I made the mistake to take a look at the results in MultiEQ app. They look like 💩😳‼️ EQ switched off, and a flat curve with many peaks south to - 10db. I almost got a cardiac arrest , until I noticed, @Reed Botwright, the in 14:32 of the video your curves look similar terrible. So this is normal, right? 😮
Thanks for that! Yeah, I’ve seen others do that too. Very helpful!
great video, I need to mess with this after doing a test, but a couple of quick questions. Did you disable midrange compensation & Audyssey EQ/volume in MultEQ app before you sent the ady file, and then us EQ or Volume after?
I leave the settings as is. A1 essentially overrides the entire original configuration. I enable DEQ but that can be set manually in your AVR anyways. You can put a curtain on your sub channel to minimize EQ in case you run an external DSP, but I don’t mind the EQ A1 applies.
You can let DEQ turned of that’s where u immediately see the impressive work it did by just calibrate it right. Further it recommend not to turn it on - just read at the end carefully the result logfile there will be anything you need to know or to do.
Whoowie error after error, better delete this video, poeple are all messing up there systems, as i already suspected😢
How so? I talk to people in these comments, on forums, on several Facebook groups about their experiences with A1. I even set up a Facebook group specifically to help users. Yes, some struggle with the technical aspects of setting up and using the A1 script. No one I've talked to has expressed that A1 has "messed up" their systems. Worst case scenario, people can send the original ADY file back to their receiver for the pre-A1 calibration. The majority of the users I've spoken to have been blown away by the tweaks by OCA as much as I have. Do you have evidence to back up your claims?
Did you find out what caused the errors? I’m looking to try this out.
There are some technical challenges for a minority of user, varying from file movement and locking issues to a known issue with people who didn’t have centre speakers or subwoofers. Others had issues using Direction Mode for subs on the newer Denon/Marantz. Almost all of these are solved, and the results are even better, on the new Evo version!
hi Reed, thanks a lot for the clear guide to Audyssey One. I tried it last night and got everything loaded in ok. But the final optimization stopped and the log said [ERROR] Error: Speaker names have different numbers of indices. - program execution has stopped! Any suggestion or trouble shooting tip to get the optimization to run? Many thanks.
I've seen that error before and it is usually an environment setup issue and I don't know a fix to it. If you want to send me your original ADY file, I can take a look at it for you! My email is my full name (as in the one I use for this channel) at Gmail dot com. You can also look for me on Facebook. Let me know if you send it as I may have to check my Spam folder or Message Requests.
Have you tried the new Evo version? I think OCA has cleared up this issue in the new version.
@@ReedBotwright Hi Reed, I did managed to get the original version of A1 to work, but the result was not very good. All the levels were significantly lowered and the cross-overs set at THX which really doesn't work well in my environment. I'll try A1 Evo and see if it's better, beats manually calibrating each speaker with a miniDSP UMIK-1 and REW. Thanks for the follow-up.
I'm sorry all this is not an easy process for the uninitiated! I got as far as trying to upload my Calibration file and it wouldn't upload. And nothing I did would change it so I couldn't run any calibration and I've never used REW before. I wish this process was explained at a reasonable speed and also a really micro step by step. It's just all sounds like it was written in a different language
Sorry you had trouble with this. I'm glad we were able to connect on Facebook and get things sorted! So glad you enjoy the results too! :D
@ReedBotwright Thank you going over it again slowly myself I understood it in the end! Thanks for your help I love the results. Cleaner, clearer detailed sound great 3d bubble of sound! Just bought Bushardt S400 mk 2 -speakers for LRC channels so sounds amazing!
Hi Reed, thanks for the video. New SUB here :) WIll try this later this week. Question: Would this also be viable for Stereo listening? My setup today is Preset 1) Stereo, Preset 2) 5.1.4 (with some manual tweaks to the curves on both).
Sorry for the late reply! Yes, this has a great impact on stereo imaging and clarity. I play with upsampling and basic stereo, and A1 makes everything sound better! I’ve given up on separate presets because of A1!
@ReedBotwright NP, thanks for the reply. Yea, I have altered back and forth now for a while, and no matter how much I try to get the standard Audyssey calibration to sound as good (my ears have during the past 3 years got used to it and thought it was outstanding, I have a treat room as well) I have come to the conclusion that A1 is superior. Listen to this, after spending 1h with music in A1 mode, I switched back to my old Audyssey calibration, and the things that sounded so good with clarity and dynamics previously, now came forth as artifact in the silver lining, an unnatural sound best described as artificial. I mean, sure, I know what I want, and I like clarity, but the way A1 presents music, it all comes down to the speaker itself, and boy, do they shine now. Triangle Australe EZ. Thanks again, Reed. Oh, and movies are on a whole different level. OMG!! Take care. Br from Sweden.
Martin, you should check out the new Evo version! It will blow you mind again!
@@ReedBotwright ohh.. thanks for the info 🎉
Thank you for the video. It fills some gaps which a newbie like me still has after watching the "official" Audessey One video, it seems to address advanced users. The part where you emulated the mesurement sounds is funny. 😂 One question about the mesurement itself: you measured all 8 points. Which strategy (which distances from 1st measure point) did you follow? The Audessey recommendation pictured in the app or did you choose a smaller box around the main listening point here? I am still insecure about how to choose the best measurement points strategy, there are so many different recommendations in the web) Thank you.
Glad you liked my goofiness! Good question about the measurement points. I have played with lots of techniques and reads tons on it. And most doesn’t seem to matter, especially with respect to the A1 results. The tolerances aren’t that granular, so I’ve given up on worrying too much about it. I even ran the “one position” technique where you just leave the mic in one spot for all 8 positions and didn’t really notice an improvement or difference. That being said, others have heard improvements for multiple positions in their home theatre by spreading out further and varying the height of the mic.
Thanks for your video. I will appreciate if you could advise me on one thing. Do I need to tweak my Audssey file on my phone before importing it into REW? Or just use the raw file as it was created during calibration? During calibration, Audssey always detects my left and right towers as full range speakers.
just use the raw file as is. Audyssey One will modify volume and x-overs
As @hiramb7956 mentioned, you can usually leave the file as-is. The only thing you might want to do is either a) make changes to the curtain on the sub in the case where you have a DSP device like the miniDSP 2x4HD EQ-ing the multiple subs (but only if you don't want A1 to also apply its EQ), and/or b) double check the levels with an external SPL (which you can also change after pushing the optimized ADY to your receiver). Otherwise, I leave my optimized ADY as OCA intended it! :D
I have tried this 2 times with the same results. My cross overs are all set to 80 Hz and the overall volume is very low after the optimization. The crossover values on the amp and the editor app are the same, 80 Hz. I have a Denon X3700h which is on the list. The second time I spent a lot of time watching this video and the creators video to see if I missed something. It appears I am doing this correctly. When I open REW I get an audio interface error, it's about the sound card. It states there is a place to turn it off which I am having problems finding. I don't know if this is creating a problem. When listening in stereo I am using the preset that was calibrated by the amp itself because it sounds much better. I have tried to listen to the 2 different presents using the test files but it is difficult to determine because the output is so much lower on the Audyssey One preset. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!
Wel i have to same Denon x3700h , sad to hear, 😢, did you fixed it , or do you say leave it and use the normal calibration?
Yes, the script applies a minimum crossover of 80 Hz, although you can check the logs and set them lower (not recommended). The errors in REW are typcial and only indicate that you want to set up your sound card if you are using REW for other measurements. The errors don’t impact A1. The output may be quieter because the levels were set lower and/or the script cut a bunch of peaks during EQ. You may want to re-run your sweeps in the app and run the ADY against the script again. I had a mis-read in the app during one of my numerous runs that made one too height speakers extremely loud and the rest very quiet.
I'm getting the following error when trying to I hit "Start Optimization": 5:06:33 PM [ERROR] Error: Speaker names have different numbers of indices. - program execution has stopped! Has anyone seen this error? Thanks,
I've seen that error before and it is usually an environment setup issue and I don't know a fix to it. If you want to send me your original ADY file, I can take a look at it for you! My email is my full name (as in the one I use for this channel) at Gmail dot com. You can also look for me on Facebook. Let me know if you send it as I may have to check my Spam folder or Message Requests.
I've been getting this error code "SW1 bass response is below target throughout the range! This error may indicate a buggy MultEQ Editor app version measuring extremely high subwoofer volumes. If that's the case you will need to install a different version of the app and repeat Audyssey." Any idea on what to do with this error or how to move forward? I tried setting my sub gain lower for a few different calibrations and still getting the same error. I have a feeling it has to do with the Audyssey app. Any help would be awesome. Thanks Reed!
I am having the same error but on C speaker. Have you figured out a solution to this yet? I have even tried the newest beta version of REW and still getting the same results.

@@ReedBotwright Thanks Reed. I'll shoot you over an email this weekend if I can. I've tried all sorts of settings and still no luck. I have a feeling it might be an issue with the multeq app itself. I'm on an iphone too so I can't go back to an older version.
@@beeradicalfowla I'll keep an eye out for your email! Thanks!
@@ReedBotwrightI did have success finally and it was due to the MultiEq app and Android. Once I downgraded the app and redid the calibration everything went perfectly. Time to enjoy my system once again, so far sounding very good. Much more immersive and my subs are blending very nicely. Thank you so much for doing this video it was a huge help
ARHGH!?!? I got no API in the settings :(
You have to use the REW Beta Version (v5.40 Beta 21) that is linked in Audyssey One.
Did you get the beta release? Did you get it running?
@@ReedBotwright Yea, but I needed to reinstall with Revo Uninstaller before it showed up. There was also this error: "FR bass response is below target throughout the range!" Another reinstalls fixed that problem too. My system sounds wonderful now :)
Hi Reed how do your overall results with MultiEQ-x in this video compare with OCA A1 results in your other video? Im looking into rying out MultEQ-X which is your better preference in terms of sound quality and balance ...cheers Ned
Good question! I find the results in A1 to be very close to the results from this MultEQ-X/REW technique. And because A1 is a much simpler process, I much prefer it.
@@ReedBotwright G'day Reed Thanks mate for your reply yep I agree that the simplicity is better! His working on another version at the moment he said which will support better results. Are you planning on trying Joe n tells True Target App?? I would but the cost is way too much for me, I'd like to see many more reviews in time to sway me!
@@nedkulic2164 I really wanted to try True Target but I can’t stomach the cost. I think the pricing missed the mark, especially when you have so many great free tools like Audyssey One and REW. I’d love to hear and compare Magic Beans with A1.
@@ReedBotwright Hi Reed totally agree, the cost for me would mean both True Target and MultiEqx PC I have been checking Discord channel there has only been one additional review since its release. There is a Aussie who was a Beta tester who Actually put me onto A1 I'm going to ask him to do a comparison between the two True Target vs A1, I will post back here the results!
Brilliant, but I'd love to hear from Dynamic EQ users if you can get on with this since it has a house curve baked in.
I’ve used Dynamic EQ with A1 quite a bit. It’s very effective for low-volume bass boosting, just as with regular Audyssey. I do find that I use DEQ less overall because A1 integrates my subs better. So there that.
My system sounds so much better! Big difference. Reed thank you!
All credit goes to OCA! He’s the man!
Thank you... This has changed my $50,000 Home Theater to a $100,000 Dollar Home Theatre. I am ABSOLUTELY BLOWN AWAY!!!! I have been trying for the last 2 yrs calibrating with minidsp, aligning subs.... And what ever tweaks I could do with the remaining 18 speakers! Definitely give it a try you won't be disappointed your system will become Alive! 😊😊😊 OCA #RESPECT X 1000
So great to hear! I only have a humble $5,000 system but I wholeheartedly agree. Such an astounding improvement. Thanks for sharing! OCA is a god!
Hi Reed, a quick few questions because I have a aligned sub curve with the minidsp using REW I actually disconnected it and ran them both via the amp following your steps. Did A1 do the alignment in A1? Or would connecting thr dsp back it fault the optimised Setup? Also I have no sound when selecting Flat🙄 for what ever reason just reference has sound. ... And did you level match your speakers to 75db once completed A1? Cheers Ned
@@nedkulic2164 No, I didn’t level match after A1. Although it only uses the stock Audyssey mic, I find the levels after A1 to be good. I have more subs than outputs on my Denon X6700 so I left my DSP alone and applied A1 using it. I have tried it with and without having EQ on my DSP, and prefer to disable EQ on my DSP and let A1 handle it.
@@nedkulic2164 Flat after A1 is set to be without any EQ. You shouldn’t hear no sound, but the effects of A1 should be removed.
50.000$ without Dirac already? 😅
(Mac User) I'm still trying to figure out what happened on my end. I didn't see a new .ady file; it only downloaded a log file after running the "Start Optimization." I searched my system, and the only thing that came up after a search was my original .ady file. Any help is appreciated.
I couldn’t get to work on Mac. I’ve got boot camp on my Mac so switched to windows and worked straight away. Just watching return of the Jedi speeder bike scene as a trial and it’s worth the effort.
Are you running the REW Beta 21? I’ve heard issues with Safari browser with the script. Have you tried in Chrome or Firefox?
@@ReedBotwright Chrome worked out perfectly. Thank you.
@@yo_g72 Great to hear! Not sure why but Safari doesn't play nice with the script.
REW download is for windows only. Do you have a link for the MAC version please
Sorted it. It’s worth the effort. Big improvement
Great! Yeah, I’ve sourced the beta and there is a link to the Mac version of REW on a forum somewhere, but version 21 is harder to find. If anyone else is reading this, let me know if you need the Mac REW beta 21!
Mac version would just stop at an error after a minute so every time. Windows worked first time. Thanks for the video :)
@@ReedBotwrightWould love to know how/where to get the beta 21 version for the MacOS for A1 stopped with an error when I use the current beta for MacOS. Thanks in advance!
@@enchanutube I had to scour to find it, but here it is: drive.google.com/file/d/1DjzVX8O6VyFxbsrm8EecM52vekOCbIIc/view?usp=drive_link
Thanks for making this understandable 😊I run through the process today and it do indeed sound better. Only thing that's missing is some output from my rear Dolby Atmos speakers. How can I increase the level of them?
You can go into the Levels in the Audyssey manual configuration in your settings and change them to be louder. If you have an SPL meter or an SPL meter app on your phone, you can match them to a reference 75 dB of your main speakers. Many will do this across all of their speakers anyways, just to ensure the levels are all the same. You can do this by going into the levels and choosing one of your mains (usually the left) and turning up the volume until the SPL meter shows 75 db. Then match all of your other levels up or down based on that. Some will bump their subs for extra punch above 75, others choose their centre to be above 75 to have better vocal clarity in music and dialogue, while other take their heights above 75 to be more immersed. Be careful with boosting too much as it can both reduce your overall headroom (max volume) and break the balance with the rest of the speakers. Good luck and let me know how it worked!
Where can I get the REW version for MAC that has the API in it? The links in OCA page is only the windows version
Weirdly, the REW beta versions (at least the newest ones) are linked in this forum post: www.avnirvana.com/threads/rew-api-beta-releases.12981/ As discussed in the Facebook group thread, the new MAC beta should work, otherwise you may have to procure a previous beta version. It looks like OCA is wrestling with the API changing with beta releases so not all versions of the A1 script will necessarily work with all versions of the beta.
Shame the app have so many bad reviews , not something you want to see for 25usd
The app is not without its flaws, but it's the gateway for this optimization. OCA's Supreme Audyssey Calibration bypasses the app but is much more involved. Did you try it out?
TV way too high!
Ha! No way. I would put it on the ceiling if I could. And it sounds amazing.
