A personal experiment in which I'm attempting to add some reverb and to remove as much background noise as possible from Casals' Bach studio recordings from the 30's, so one might get an acoustic impression that an audience member at the back of the Prades Cathedral may have experienced at a live concert. Hi, thank you for this very lovely performance! I am thinking to buy one of these cellos, I was just wondering if you could tell me, is it very loud and do you have to work hard to project on it? My own cello is very soft and I am hoping to get one that has more core of sound and natural projection. Thank you in advance for your help. Warm wishes from Australia.

WOOOOOOWWWW! Thank you very much! You blew my mind! I was looking for a solution for a technique like this, since when I started playing cello (5 months ago)! INCREDIBLE: I GOT IT almost immediately!!! REALLY THANK YOU for your clear explanation!! Now I will be able to play some fast passages I always dreamt to execute! Do you think "Night on Bald Mountain" by Mussorgskij, between 0:14 - 0:28 minute, could be one of them?? Or is this piece for violin based on a different technique, and so possible only for the violin?? Now, I will start to approach this masterpiece, hoping my neighbors will not hate me too much!!

KING of cello. He stands above all other cellists when it comes to laser-focused playing - I think he labelled it as "no frills" or something. No need for excess emotion etc.....flamboyant he is not, but sometimes flamboyancy gets in the way of appreciating a composer's piece due to its superfluous "personal touches". Starker avoided that, and I love him for staying true to his principle all those years of playing. R.I.P Starker...
