❤❤❤❤❤❤
What a great adventure. Fair Winds!
Great work Paul - thanks for sharing! I hope you can still sleep easy after these two 'adventures'.
I'm shaken but undeterred. 😀 Hope you and the family are all well.
Love that you’re documenting everything in such detail. What memories to look back on in years to come. However, such a devastating ordeal at the train station 💔 hope you’re doing ok xx
Yes I talk too much. It runs in the family 😂
❤
Not enough information to say.
Yes a bit cryptic. Sorry about that but people who follow my channel would know I'm stranded in Cadiz with a shredded transmission. I'm a klutz trying to fix it mysefl....
@DrewsSoloWorldSail well, I leave you with some fitting quotes and wish you luck; "You can never cross the ocean unless you have the courage to leave the shore." Explorer Christopher Columbus And; "I'd rather be broke down on a boat, than be sitting down in an office." Jacque Cousteau And lastly; "No endeavor offers the prospect of hope and peace like repairing a sailboat you know you'll be in the wind soon." Jimmy Buffet, Good Luck
@@user-er4qd6gq7f Thanks for that. Quote 2 and 3 resonate with me BIG TIME.
Holidaying or moving in? Stunning property ☀️🧘🏽🥰🍷 room for a small(ish) cousin? will cook and clean for free board n lodgings 🤣😂 Hope you’re all good and back on the 🗺️ 🛥️. Been looking forward to your updates xxx
I'm back on the boat but still out of the water. I have to find accommodation at the weekends so have been doing lots of hotels. I'm aiming to fix my engine by end of June then hopefully normal programming can resume. 😀
Good luck - am watching with interest. Saving for my yacht to get to Spain and the canaries- my dream ❤
Ping me your mmsi when you get your dreamboat. I'll look out for you on AIS. You can never know too many sailors !
I am looking forward have you as my crew ,we will have nice adventure and will get down south quite quickly and then fix up your boat in no time
HI mate, hope you are going to come say hi when you get back , would be good to see you again.
Ping me an email so I have your details pauldrew76@hotmail.com. I doubt I'll have time as Boris wants to get moving. But I will if I can.
Excellent sound effects 😂
Great drone shots
🎸 🫶🏼
!Fabuloso! Carnival de Cadiz 🎉 . . y mi otro primo en España 🤩. Disfruta Chicos 🍻
Yo yo tooledupted. Thanks for the note.....but I won't be enjoying any boys if its all the same to you - disfrutar chicos no es lo mío!
fair play, good video, quite some adventure, and I know you haven't filmed the worst parts because it hard to get true them as they are and hard to film when things go south. I didn't realise that you sailed more after you run ground, well I guess you are getting to Gibraltar no matter what, where should improve since it getting closer to spring . Well done
Hi Boris, Well there was nothing to gain from staying there. Had to keep moving and I was filming on my phone going into the waves but when the "big one" hit I just threw it into the cockpit stowage still filming. Or so I thought. When I checked later nothing had recorded. I seem to remember when it runs out of space it just gives up entirely.
@@DrewsSoloWorldSail That is unfortunate, I am thinking as well how to capture these moments when things go bad ,I am thinking need keep fresh camera somewhere probably mounted so can do one button press and it is filming ,because when things go spicy it hard to film
@BorissTheNomad Yeah I have a lapel mic being sent to Gib for when I want to address the camera outside (most of the time) and reduce the wind noise. Most of the stuff I film is unusable. And you are right. We need a wide angle mounted camera at the back stay to capture boat action.
Good to hear again from you matey, looks like you are having fun down there...... not at all jealous :(
I've been wearing nothing but flips flops for 2 months now (well at least on my feet). I think that sums up my current lifestyle.....:-)
Any news or gossip from the Massive? Whose got my spot in the mud now.....?
@@DrewsSoloWorldSail Slot's empty mate, bit of an exodus going on here atm, as for the massive, not a lot going on, too cold for the sane people , needless to say i am down there when i can be.......
Nice video, well made . Looking you have everything under control
Glad to see you're alive and kicking, I was beginning to wonder!
ugh What is this video trying to do?
Hi, I'm just documenting my travels in my own way. It certainly won't be interesting to everyone but friends/family and some fellow sailors / adventurers want to know what I'm up to. I'm pretty random and quirkily creative and make no apologies for that. Other content is available if this is not your cup of tea but thanks for stopping by and commenting. 👍
Thanks for you thoughtful reply. all the best to you@@DrewsSoloWorldSail
The opening music is like a fire training educational video sound backing.
That's the vibe I was going for - late 90's fire service educational. It's a much under appreciated subgenre of corporate techno me thinks.😊
Good to see you are doing good mate, Hope you have a great Xmas.......
You too Alec and give my regards to the Tollesbury crew please. I often have fill out paperwork containing "home port" and I always think of you guys when I do and feel like I'm representing Tollesbury like some kind of athlete 😂
@@DrewsSoloWorldSail Will do matey, we do often wonder how you are getting on, but you are more than capable of dealing what Nature throws at you, ( but not companion way hatches) :) :)
Looks very inspirational, I want to get out there , you are getting so far ahead, will have to sail like couple months straight to be able catch up
Well I'm loving Portimao and spoke to a sailmaker today. He's on Xmas hols until 8th Jan and then needs to do the work so could be here for a while. Getting the ripped genoa fixed, getting a proper sized staysail and "may" get an asymmetric spinnaker (not decided on that one yet).
Love your rendition of Norwegian Wood .😊
At last! A fan of my music❤ .....and it turns out to be my mum😢
@DrewsSoloWorldSail yeah but you know I like GOOD music
Great video Paul, I was exactly on the same berth in Baiona. Not the expensive royale yacht club
I love your sailing videos Drew, However when I want to listen to music there are a few music channels that I listen to.
Thanks for the feedback Peter. 2 comments in return: 1) I am an amateur musician so sharing some of my music is what I do. 2) I was too stupid to check my camera settings and didn't realise about 70% of the footage I took was in slow-mo and without sound. But wanting to get something published I oversaturated this vid with music. I do agree there's too much of it in this vid.
My comments were not meant as a complaint merely an observation. I am an avid sailor my self and I follow many sailing channels, two of my favourites are Sailing with Sam Holmes, and Adventures of an old sea dog, Both of whom are musicians, but but their channels are predominately about sailing! However I hope your head heals quickly and I cannot wait to see your next adventure, Fair winds and calm seas.@@DrewsSoloWorldSail
Top Stuff Captain looks like a real adventure and some neat towns n people on the way. All the best Paul. Rgds Pritch@aviva. ( loving 2:48 )
Looking very inspirational, can't wait for spring to catch up with you .Looks proper adventure. Your jib look ok just need some stitching and will be like new Thank you for advertising my chanel:)
very good demo of how easy it is to create an awkward medical situation for yourself when solo. ... makes the rest of us think hard about how to handle the same injury single-handedly ... literally. Yup - scalps sure do bleed. I'm glad you're OK.
The reason the batteries suddenly say 100% is because the tail current threshold has been incorrectly set. Read a Victron manual on tail current and change the settings, start by doubling the current and increasing the time by 50%. The reason the alternator is struggling to charge is probably because it’s getting very hot and regulating its output based on its internal temperature. Hard to solve on a 12v system as they generate a lot of heat. Choose radar OR AIS but not both I’d choose AIS. Self steering works well when set up so persevere with the manufacturers help to get that sorted. Lastly have fun 😊
Thanks for the advice Toby I'll look into this.
Brutal mate, big well done staying calm and treating yourself. Doesn't take much to get freaked out and pass out/get sick when there's a loads of blood, making a manageable injury so much worse haha
Headwounds are always messy. Having said that the feeling not be able to trust the systems is way worse.
Hope you get they wound checked out. Omg Paul 😱. You did well not to panic and pass out ! Surely it much be time for some cheese 🧀. Get plenty rest before carrying on. Looks a lovely bay. So glad you arrived safely. Xx
Navtext is good. How did you connect it up to your laptop?
Sorry for not replying sooner but I've only just seen this comment. I've not been using it as mostly I'm in contact with land mobile services and offshore I've been using Garmin Inreach which gives simple (non-graphic) wind/weather updates for 3 days. I'm treating Navtex as a redundancy system in case of other failures and like the fact that it has a 200 mile range. The connection box I have is a NASA Marine USB Receiver. This can be connected to my laptop via a USB dongle (bluetooth versions are available). I then downloaded free software - An excellent website with details of NAVTEX, RTTY and HF radio weather services can be found here: weather.mailasail.com/Franks-Weather Try the PC Navtex software before you buy - download a full working version here: PC Navtex Demo (requires PC Windows XP - 10) Latest production PC Navtex software V4 (Windows 10 Compatible) - www.willrite.co.uk/Navtex/Downloads/navtex4_installer.exe
You did very well when got injured, fair play. and whether looked so much better that I would expected, looked good passage. I will need try to catch up with you :)
Yes the wind was pretty underwhelming. However, that was all patience, planning and waiting. Trust me, it can hell on earth out there. Hope to see you soon.
HI Mate, good to hear from you again , hope your head is ok, btw , hoping you didnt damage your Companion way hatch :) keep safe mate.
Good to know you are ok now! looked awful
Been eagerly anticipating your next update ! Glad all is well 😊 Camaret looks a lovely place tho’. You’ll be fluent by the time you move on 😉 Vin, Fromage et Biere ce ca ! 🤣😂 Look forward to the next episode. Stay safe Xx
THAT WAS OPTIMISTIC, SMILEY
was wondering where you were, glad to hear you are all ok.......
Yeah haven't been getting very far since mid Sept. Hopefully on the mover again soon....
Looks like you're having the time of your life. Look forward to seeing the next installment.
Hiya Chris, trust you are well. I certainly was having a great adventure but still currently weather stranded watching reports of 30 foot waves (they would capsize me). But hopefully finishing off my boat upgrades and getting some conducive wind soon. Next port probably in spain!
I'm doing well thanks. Fingers crossed then it will clam down soon enough to allow you to push on.
This was good collaboration, I definitely enjoyed it
The sad thing is I'm still waiting for the new selfsteering system and then I'll be going out again for some circles and snake!
@@DrewsSoloWorldSail Now you know what need to be done and it should be even easier with new auto pilot sytem
Looks like a place I wouldlike to visit😂
Just to add, i really like the originality of your Vids, really impressed you did all the accompanying music as well, keep it up mate.
try washing up liquid on the fenders, might help the squeaking....
Yeah i did read that's a temporary option but I ended up buying 2 socks hoping that would be enough....nope need 3 as the boat pivots against the dock!
Looks have got new toy ,nice drone footage . Seems you having good time in France. Will you film the new upgrade instalation? I would like to see how the upgrade happen and the testing :)
Anything in particular AIS, Radar or Self steering? I also need to work out how I'm going to rig the staysail if i want to fly the genoa and staysail simultaneously?
@@DrewsSoloWorldSail Flying the spiniker with jib should not be too hard . What kind spineker do you have . And I would like to all upgrades :) curious how much work it is to install all of it.
@BorissTheNomad I had a symmetric spinnaker but i took it off the boat as it is too much faff for a solo sailor. I said "staysail" which will go on my inner forestay.
@@DrewsSoloWorldSail You are right, simetrical spinnaker is bit much to handle ,being single handed and also if you are flying simetrical spinaker then jib has no more wind . You probably could use your second forestay for the other jib that you have
@BorissTheNomad Theoritcally i could fly the 2nd genoa on the inner forestay but :1) its a 140% (or thereabouts) so would come way back into the cockpit area 2) would need another car/traveller/tracks (although could get creative with snap blocks etx). 3) why do that when you have a main sail? 4) my inner forestay is fractional so does not extend to the top of the mast. My Primary reason for the staysail is to have slightly more options but mainly to have better power generation in high winds. Large genoas lose shape when heavily reefed and the staysail is smaller and further back on deck and with a high clue (escapes waves and steadies the boat & reduces weather helm.
Have fun Captain at the Mersey of the weather.
I see what you did there :-)
Great videos... Sleeping in the anchor is stressful for sure.... Especially on your own
LOL, that Brie clip made me think you were cutting the Brie with a hacksaw.....Good stuff as always mate...
Keep the cheese 🧀 🫕 updates a regular on the show please 🙌🏻 What’s your fav Brie so far and can we get it here in 🇬🇧 I love my cheese ❤ Stinkier the better 😤🤬😡 to Gary’s disgust . . . I have to have a separate fridge for the really “ripe” ones 🤣😂
Did quick review for you this morning. Will be in the next vid :-)
That looks very nice place to visit. It nice to see all these places so I will know where to stop when I will sail that direction
