Hi Tim. I was planning to stay / tour the south coast more but I got a delayed start and then had boat issues which kept me in ramsgate for a while so in the end I hoofed it down to IOW and then did the channel. Things rarely go as planned sailing do they !

I knew my transom would end up covered with a hydrovane and other gubbins so was happy to sacrifice a swim platform etc. Also, with a full keel you have zero reverse steerage.....but now with the extra rudder (from the hydrovane) I can manaouver better in tight spaces in reverse. All about compromise but I'm happy with my choice so far.
