I feel like season 5 is bulled to mich because everyone feels liek its too short aand jas no point but heres the thing. season 5 is different yes but if you think about it its a one year thing in season 5 and he must have had a hard time making this season and I liked it hell I Loved it. It felt exciting and interesting. This was one of my favorite but with season 4 in first place. Give Victor Tanzig a break and don't criticize every wrong thing because thats what ive seen. I've watch many Thomas series qnd sometimes bigger isent better and sometimes videos that are 10 minutes long can also be good. I challenge you to rewatch season 5 and think about how much work Victor puts in this series because I give Season 5 a 9/10. Also with season 6 coming, Since it will not just be a one year thing, there episodes may be longer or if he dose more 10 minute episodes, I'll still watch them.

Season 5 definitely suffers from what I call “Sword Art Online Pacing”. It’s where whomever wrote the series was experiencing writers block, or just didn’t have the plot for a second, resulting in pacing that is far too quick, episodes written piece by piece to the point where they have trouble matching the tonal and quality norms of other episodes, and sometimes can make characters personalities and skills dependant on what the plot needs (Victor didn’t fall this low). I named such, because Sword Art Online suffers heavily from this, the first season being written out of sequence, and by an author who should have taken a bit more time to think of how everything would work when interconnected. The later parts of the Second season, when it’s done wrapping up the first season, is genuinely good, and everything works well, but everything else… let’s not go there.

You know, I liked the stories of war and one problem I have with that mini series is that it’s harder to take the war scenes seriously with the engines still in their regular liveries and not painted in black.

My personal theory is that Henry 1 was sent to crewe round about the same time stannier made a prototype of the LMS Stanier Black 5's Henry 1 was attempted to be fixed but there were far to many problems, however Topham had an idea Replace the smokebox door on the Black 5 prototype with henry's and it worked, so henry 1 was taken in a failed engine but bought out a lms prototype

Man there were a lot of customs here I don't know how many I've made but this is certainly a lot I'll say that much! Fantastic work Ty also I have to ask why is Duncan black/Gray. I understand why Mighty Mac are red, or why Sir Handle and Peter Sam are in there blue and green liveries but it never really made sense to me. Other than that a lot of great customs here keep up the good work man!

To be fair to Victor, with regard to the Shorts, Victor is full-time UA-cam now. And the algorithm punishes you severely if you don't post regularly. And we know from experience that it takes at least a few months to make a full SoS season. That sort of boom and bust, ebb and flow model only works if you're not doing UA-cam full-time. Victor is full-time, so he needs something to fill the gaps between seasons, so that the algorithm doesn't punish him whenever a new SoS season comes out. And the Shorts fulfill that role of filling the gap decently enough.

I liked the series for the most part but season 5 rubbed me the wrong way. It's not the character's death or most of them, (Felt Peter's death was cheap) it was the fact Edward and Barry....and Henry are now diesels.

The reason that the action in the Stories of War feels very staticy is mostly due to the limitations from the Trainz 2019 software used for filming. It doesn't exactly allow the action to fully play out if you were using other filming software like Source Filmmaker as an example and you're basically left to use your imagination.

Victor's early shorts, including the Monty Python adaptation, were his best ones. They were fun, re-watchable and often included a connecting thread. His latter shorts are more watch once and forget.

Excellent video! as someone who’s been a big fan of Victor’s for a long time, I agree with most of these points, especially about Season 5 and the shorts. We can only hope that the recent reactions to his content will serve as a learning experience and that his quality of content will improve once again. Best wishes to you!
