A hands on review of the stunning Smiths Caribbean 1000 PRS-55 from Timefactors. This is the yellow dial / blue bezel version.
(Trust me, it IS a blue bezel but it needs to be very bright for it to look blue).

@Watches, Knives, & EDC If you are gonna make a video at least have a clue about the watch you are talking about
Сейчас эти часы к сожалению уже не купить
I brought one today 😂 It’s a beautiful watch I couldn’t help it and the dial is so clean
Same here! Any idea how wide is the strap? How many mm? 😊
You made me buy two pieces of this Sir.. A very in depth review! But if i want to put a nato strap in it, what size could it be? 😊
Lug width is 20mm
@@WatchesKnivesEDCThank you! You just earned my subscription.. I‘ll share your channel as well in some of our watch group page 😊🙏🏼
where did you buy this watch? I would like one.
I bought it from ebay but had favourited a few on Chrono24 on my search. Good luck!
Great video! Nice Hamilton, I especially love the strap that you paired it with, it has a nice, distressed look, it also fills in the space between the spring bars and the watch case quite nicely. If possible, can you share where you sourced the strap? Thanks for posting !
Thanks for your comment 😊 I'm afraid I don't know where it came from, sorry 😔 It *might* have been off eBay
@@WatchesKnivesEDC No worries, thanks anyway, great video - cheers !😎
I have one of these.
I sold mine 😢 So obviously I'm looking for a other one 🤣
Useful review thanks - what’s the top and size you are wearing under the jacket in this one?
It's the Vardag sweater in XXL, colour green. Nothing fancy but good quality and comfortable and a pleasure to wear.
Just received mine and i love it, thank you for your video. It is the only video on this watched that i have found and it helped me a lot to make the move
Ive never seen anyone talk about the strap length, thank you.
The secondhand is way off
Great review! keep up the good work, I enjoyed it!
Is the thickness 11.5mm? It seems thicker that 11.5mm
It is 11.5mm. I agree it seems thicker - it's the proportions (36mm) and the boxiness of the case I think that combine to create this illusion.
The 18k model with the linen pattern dial - you can’t get better than that.
I’m curious what power reserve are you actually getting when the watch is fully wound?
I haven't done a scientific test, and I'm usually an automatic watch guy so always get caught out by my manual watches, but it's in the region of 40 hours. Essentially I wind it in the morning, forget to wind it the following day and it's stopped by nighttime 🙄
Yikes
Great well made review! I own the Breeland jacket myself and it has served me well over the years.. Regards from Sweden
Nice review. Looks like a lovely little knife. You earn a sub
A2, correct! Beautiful Maverick Scout!
Nice! I have the Ogival day date on a jubilee Champaign diamond dial
Can you adjust the strap length?
Yes, with the usual sort of plastic strap adjuster thing.
Когда купил, но не знаешь что с ним делать
Why does it not display the corret conversion for 200m to feet. It should be 656 feet.
You're absolutely right! Loads of dive watches do that... but I don't know why 🤔
Lovely genuine overview of the watch. Just FYI the anti-magnetic properties mean it’s less likely the hair spring becomes magnetized which would cause the watch to keep erratic time. The broad arrow (crow’s foot) - although this is not a British military issued watch (broad arrow indicates it is the property of the MOD) it does, I believe, have a genuine NATO part/stock number which adds an element or credibility to what is a nod to the past/military provenance.
I got the watch on ebay over paid but i still think its worth it based on your review lol
I'm sure you'll love it, definitely worth it 😁
@@WatchesKnivesEDC guess what I went to the store and I got the Watch ordered easy peasy I will not accept the Watch I ordered on eBay saving hundreds
Great video, thanks. Please consider doing a comparison of the MDV-102 (MTD 1054) and the newer MDV-106, which has something of a cult following here in the United States. A Google search shows the MDV-106 is worn by Microsoft's Bill Gates. Both models are rated for 200 meters and thus feature a marlin, although I understand that mark is going away. I prefer the smaller diameter of the MDV-102. And that older model is now a collector's item--I see two listed on eBay for $450.
That 106 has been on my list for so long! I haven't got round to buying one because I already have too many dive watches and it doesn't have the cool LEDs of the 102 / 1054. But maybe I can justify getting a 106 since a review has now been requested ;-)
I think its the best choice at that price no doubt
Great review i think i will get it great price
Thanks for the review !! I just ordered it, it looks really beautiful !
Great walkthrough to the MTD-1054 Super Illuminator series. I'm a Casio Marlin collector and own a pair of MDV-102 which share the same module and it's great to see and know all other variants of this model. Looking forward to more videos. Cheers!
A sturdy alternative to a flimsy Fit Bit. Step counter works fine, but not many features available. Stopwatch and timer functions are great. Easily programmable through app. Negative display is fine in sunlight but practically worthless otherwise.
Which do you prefer between this and the standard Fjallraven pocket?
Personally the pocket; I love that tough canvassy G-1000 material!
What's this like to wear under a t-shirt/shirt? Would the strap chafe your skin?
The pocket is fine but the strap is very thin so it may well chafe.
Very nice, But make it in a 40mm version, Its 2024
😉 I personally love the dimensions. There are other Dirty Dozen inspired watches out there that are bigger - the Praesidus Dirty Dozen is 38mm, the Vaer A12 is 40mm.
Nooo what 40mm why too big ? It’s perfect
I want one so bad! 😢
I'm thinking about buying this wallet, but I'm missing a little loop to attach a carabiner/key ring to it. Any chance it would work to put one through the Swedish flag label? 🙏
It's a good idea. Two issues I can see: it's quite a small loop so the carabiner would have to be small, and it's quite thin so I think it would tear through quite quickly.
Love this watch. Do you think it could fit under a shirt cuff at 15mm? I wear a suit nearly daily.
It depends on how tight you wear your shirts but I'm not 100% confident it would, it's quite tall and boxy :-/
How to reset the time
Take a look on the Adidas website - they have user manuals available adidaswatches.com/care-instructions-user-manuals/
Don't quite understand, the Timex Command Shock Digital CAT 54mm Watch is half the cost of the expedition yet other than a tiny change up on the front screen both watches are 100% identical in features and build. So why are you paying more for a watch instead of saving money? I know the display is inverted but still shows up nicely and looks great. Not to mention if you scratch yours depending on the angle of light or sun it will reflect the scratch to your lcd display.
To be honest at the time I bought this it was on special so it wasn't expensive. There are so many variations of these watches - I agree, buy the one that's the cheapest at the time 😊
Beautiful watches. I have the blue model. Fantastic for the price I paid
Made in Hong Kong will never go on my wrist.
I am very fussy about thickness and I am more and more drawn to watches that are slim on the wrist. That said, I do not find that this watch looks thick on my wrist. It is definitely appears thicker than the PRS-29, but most importantly it doesn't look thick to me.
Would you recommend the 20 for a day hike ? I’ve read differing opinions but you seem to know what you’re talking about ! Cheers
I've used mine for day hikes and it was fine. There is undoubtedly better out there, but as a multipurpose pack it's great! It's obviously not massive but for a modest hike there's room for 2 water bottles on the outside of the bag, then plenty of room for snacks, maps, first aid kit, spare socks, waterproof, battery pack, camera... whatever you take on your day hikes. Comfort-wise the straps are nicely padded, but it has no chest strap or hip belt so it'll move about on your back, and it's quite short so for tall people it might rub a bit on the small of their back. And it's sweaty! I find the compartments practical, I like its sturdiness, and it's comfortable enough.
@@WatchesKnivesEDCthanks for the reply , I’m looking at the Lappland too , cheers
MY black one arrived today. Another great watch from Timefactors. Only mentioned by real enthusiasts since freebies and paid reviews are not done. Says a lot about all the "impartial reviewers" out there. Still those who know, know.
Got lucky on the last shop opening, really looking forward to receive the watch. The only thing I´m not super fond of are the hands, I just would have preferred syringe hands out of personal preference. They just look better :-). Thanks for the review!
Received mine today, same as yours, in black. I was a little worried I’d find 36mm too small, but it looks great. Finally scratched the itch for an authentic inspired small seconds.
Why do the numbers on the dial appear to be going backwards? All of my watches would start at 0 and go up but this one starts at 60 and goes down as you go clockwise?
You tend to get both clockwise and anticlockwise bezels - to count down or count up. Apparently the version on this Nixon is how it should be on dive watches, and the other way round has been popularised - from what I have read - by non-divers using the bezel to count how long is left on the parking meter. I prefer the 0-60 personally!
I am surprised to learn that the crystals of such watches can get scratched. I have two less expensive watches from an inferior brand called Naviforce, and they have held up pretty well without a scratch on their crystals. However, there are scratches on the back of the bands for a gold-plated one, with wear near the case where the watch bands join. So how is it possible that a scratch-proof crystal like those from Casio can get scratched or have scratches?
Unfortunately they're not scratch proof. It's mineral crystal and highly domed so it protudes a lot which isn't a good combination 😞 However, unscratched it's a very handsome combination!
I obtained the cream colored version. Very nice aesthetic. Strap is very comfortable and simple. Lume is indeed surprisingly bright and long lasting for its type. The height surprised me a bit. A little more chunky than I’m used to but doesn’t protrude too much. Still getting used to that. It looks heavier than it really is. Overall it’s subtly different from what I’ve had and a welcome addition to the collection.
I really love what Timefactors does. Unfortunately I’ve never landed my hands on one yet.
