Hiking back to Ilulissat from Nalluarsuk in western Greenland
The hike in this video took place in late September 2024, starting at the lake Nalluarsuk where the Igloo Lodge is located. Naturally, without snow, there were no igloos, and the cabin was locked. I set up my tent close to the cabin and began my trek to Disco Bay the next morning.
I followed the "recommended path" from the hiking map. While the landscape wasn’t particularly breathtaking or varied, it had its own charm and presented some challenges along the way. Ultimately, I was rewarded with a stunning view of Disco Bay and the coastline.
I imagine the landscape might be more picturesque in the summer, with more greenery to catch the eye.
On the downside, you need to be prepared for mosquitoes in the summer. When I reached the coast, the sun was shining impressively bright, and it got so warm that mosquitoes and small - but annoying - flies reappeared. An experience I would rather have avoided!
Enjoy the video :)

This breathtaking natural wonder draws numerous visitors each year. For those looking to explore the area, the Blue Route offers an ideal day hike. From one popular spot to another - from Anterinmukka open wilderness hut with a great sauna to Lake Luirojärvi with one sauna, two open huts and two (or three?) rental ones. It is worth mentioning that there are eight toilets at the lake - the peak of civilization in Urho Kekkonen National Park! Usually a very crowded place at it is beautiful and quite easy to get to. But this time I was the on...

One of the highlights in Urho Kekkonen National Park are the saunas, which you shouldn't miss when hiking here. The sauna in the Anterinmukka open wilderness hut is a real gem - I couldn't believe I was the only person there all day. I expected someone to come later, but no one showed up. This is an incredible fact because the hut is easy to get to and is therefore always very crowded. By the w...
From Sarvijoki to Muorravaarakanruoktu - Urho Kekkonen National Park

That day I slept too long in my tent near the Muorravaarakanruoktu wilderness hut and started later than I needed to. On the positive side, the unfriendly-seeming Finnish hikers from the previous evening were friendly and chatty (albeit by Finnish standards) and explained to me how to use the gas stove in the hut and exactly how to start the fire. All in all, I started the day in a good mood an...
From Porttikoski to Sarvijoki - Urho Kekkonen National Park

Arguably the best known and most popular national park in Finland is Urho Kekkonen National Park. This was my next hiking destination to discover the hiking spirit in Scandinavia. I went to Saarisilkä at the end of September 2023 to start a solo trip through this great national park. It was less wilderness than I expected there - in fact, no wilderness feeling at all - but it had its own unforg...
Last hiking days in Lomsdal-Visten

At some point, even a long hike will slowly come to a glorious end. Nature is still cool and worth the effort, but... You're starting to miss some civilization like a warm shower, better coffee in the morning, fresh clothes. Your merino socks and underwear are still fine, but the risk of the odor reaching the threshold is increasing. After all, you miss other people too. Personally, I reach thi...
Hiking through Lomsdal-Visten from one lake to another

On a day like this you can experience the diversity of Lomsdal-Visten National Park. There is no beaten path, no marked trail - feel free to make your own. A gentle reminder to myself - always allow some time buffer when hiking off the marked trails. Some days in Lomsdal-Visted it took me up to two extra hours to find the right trail, walking back and forth and considering whether I'm willing t...
Rain-free hiking through Lomsdal-Visten in autumn

The Lomsdal-Visten National Park in northern Norway is a real insider tip for all Scandinavia lovers who want to enjoy the wild nature without meeting other hikers on their journey. The explanation for this phenomenon is very simple: there are no books, no hiking guides about this wonderful national park. At least not in German, which reduces the probability of encountering a German to almost z...
An easy walk in Sarek

An easy hike on the north side of the Rapa Valley in Sarek National Park in Sweden in early September 2021. I reached Skárjá the day before after crossing the Ráhpajåhkå river. It offers a breathtaking view of the mountains and valleys, it has a unique waterfall, two huts and even an outhouse - which is a must as there are quite a few hiki...

A chilly day hike to the exit of Sarek National Park in Sourva in early September 2021. The trail started on a cloudy morning by the Bierikjávrre lake and passed through the Guhkesvágge valley. The Guhkesvákkjåhkå river was quite easy to cross on the bridge. The entire trail was an easy walk compared to the Rapa Valley. At the end of a cloudy day, the tent was pitched near the mountain river Lu...

Really like your videos from Lomsdal-Visten. Calm, serene and atmospheric. Also aesthetically pleasing with the wide format.

Gorgeous. Did you do any fishing?
Oh no no :) But I met a Finnish family who were fishing on a lake. Nothing caught, though.
Beautiful country!
I am not sure about the whole country, but that national park is beautiful, indeed. .

Hello, I asked:- Do you show Russia ? ( translated on Google ). In Brazil we speak Portuguese.
Hello, yes, I am Russian.
Thanks. Russia is very beautiful.
@@engenhodidentro7396 Russia is beautiful, but this video is taken Finland :) Urho Kekkonen National Park lies in the border to Russia, so the nature should be the same there.

Thank you very much :) I am glad you liked the video!
I absolutely loved this video! The scenery is breathtaking, and the music complements it perfectly. It's so nice to see a rain-free hike, and I appreciate how well the trail is marked. It's definitely inspired me to add Lomsdal-Visten to my list of places to visit. Thanks for sharing!
You are welcome! May you experience rain-free days there as well :) Because statistics and experienced hikers claim this is the most wet weather of the year.
Stunning. And great Photo and sound. I also walked lomsdal visten some 7 years ago, but big area. A map would make a great contribution. Inspiring, makes me want to return.
Thank you :) I used two maps, both 1:50000 from Nordeca: Lomsdal-Visten no. 10114 and Mosjøen no. 10117 (because the first map ends about 15 km before Mosjøen). Surprisingly, there were no bridges marked on the maps, which is not what you would expect from a hiking map! I used the map on www.lomsdalvisten.no/en/gateways/ where you can find very good route suggestions, bridges and cabins.
5:14 It was such a dangerous moment..!
Partly. I would have got pretty wet 😃
Absolutely stunning landscapes, this is brilliantly captured and presented my friend!🔥🔥
Thank you! The nature there makes it easy to fine stunning landscapes :-)
Thank you so much for sharing those fantastic videos from Lomsdal - Visten with us! It gave me great pleasure to watch them, as these areas are not far from where I grew up. Again, thank you so much! 🙂👍
Thank you for watching :-) You are lucky to grew up there, Norway is a fantastic country for living and hiking.
Such a relaxing and peaceful presentation my friend! Absolutely stunning vidis! This trail looks so enchanting!
Thank you 😊 I agree with you in everything but relaxing - this part of the trail is quite challenging. Camping in the beach was relaxing, though.

Thanks for the tip !
I've been watching your Sarek videos multiple times. Great stuff! Based on landscape colors I'm guessing you were there in mid September? Edit: I see now that you wrote early September in the description 🤦
Thank you 😊 Mid September would be almost the same colors I guess, so your assumption was not far from the truth.

@@altewu17 it is September, the first half of. You are right.
Love it 👏! No talking, just the sound of nature. I've been there once, but on the north side. Would like to go there again. The south side looks amazing, but nothing comes for free in Sarek. Must have been challenging, hiking the south side? Thank you very much for the video, I'm now a subscriber of your channel.
Thank you :) The nature there is amazing, indeed! I can't compare the difficulty of the north and south sides as I only went the south, but the Swedes I talked to stated that the south side is the most challenging. On the other hand, you meet less people there :) Hope you will go there again!
A big THANK to you, sir, for sharing your Sarek hiking videos for us here on YT! Well done! Wishing you all the best and much new safe hiking in the future!

We saw your tent 7.9. at the bridge over Gådokjåhka. Possible? We went from Sarvesvage - Rapadalen on the left bank like you. But a little higher above the valley, about 750m. Quite challenging, amazing space. Thanks for the nice video.
Hello, UA-cam automatically deletes comments with links, so I couldn't answer you earlier, sorry. I don't think you saw my tent there - I pitched it near the hut a few days earlier. At the same time a group of 5 Belgians went to the mountains and a Belgian woman returned to Kvikkjokk - what a coincidence! I hope you stayed calm in Rapadalen - it was really a challenge. Not just physically but also mentally. But we did it :) Thank you for watching!
Очень атмосферно и душевно снято. Ну и конечно красиво. Спасибо.

The beautiful place to visit! North is my love/
Really beautiful.Thank you very much !!!!

Nice. All new places to discover. Thanks and more please
I wish I could :)
Your videos are eye candy mate. 🍭👍
:) thank you
Ahh... so seems like you went from Rapadalen -> Skierfe, then you went East to ~Vietas?
I started in Kvikkjokk, then went via Pårek, then took the bridge over Gadokjåhkå, then continued on the south side on Rapadalen to Dielmáskájdde, crossed the river, went on the west side of Rapadalen up to Skárjá, crossed the river, from Skárjá to Bierikjávrre, from there via Guhkesvágge to Suorva. There was literally nothing in Suorva, so I went further to Vietás (Stora Sjöfallet Mountain Lodge).
@@vladislavsergeew I see. Any chance you're gonna post the river crossing in Dielmáskájdde? How difficult is south Rapadalen? I'd imagine that it's not better then North Rapadalen (which is also pretty bad), but from far away it seemed a little better.
@@levb.7338 It is here ua-cam.com/video/7HzFOtX6jwo/v-deo.html This is the south side. I cannot compare it to the north, but all Swedes I met in Sarek said it is the most difficult area there. Not necessarily dangerous but really exhausting and annoying.
Unfassbar!

You are welcome!
I want to go to Padjelanta 26.09.22 - 06.10.22 over my birtday, can you give me some advices? It seems, that you put thick clothes to sleep, what was your sleeping bag limit? The Lundhags Boots I have to and I love them.
Thank you for asking! Have a look at this great channel: ua-cam.com/users/fagelguiden The guy - Erik Normark - hike a lot unter conditions you might have in Padjelanta. What helped me - I tested all the gear in the winter in Black Forest prior to my hike in Sarek. So I knew that e.g. my sleeping bag is fine for temperatures around zero but I got to know that my sleeping mattress was to cold - and I took an extra sleeping pad with me to increase the isolation. Anyway, it was warmer in Sarek than in the winter here in Black Forest - but sometimes the strong wind made me feel cold anyway. The comfort limit of my sleeping bag was -3°C - but again, the isolation pad is also important. So I say nothing new :)
Very nice filming! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you :) Hope the video encourages you to hike there.
👍🏻
Rapadalen is tough. Thanks for the video... most people skip filming their traverse through here because of the difficulty of passing... filming becomes the least of the problems
You are totally right :) I missed great shots because either it was too challenging to place the camera and repeat the hike again or because I got too tired. The south side of Rapadalen is tough.
Hello! Great video! I was just wondering what the name of this river is? We're looking at attempting the Kitoy later this year but are currently struggling with the logistics (if you know anyone who has the GPS coordinates of the put-in that would be great!) and were considering the Urik as an easier back-up.
Hello! Thank you. The name of the river is Urik as stated. As we were just tourist I am afraid I cannot provide you the proper info. Why don't you contact the guys who organized that? Thea are very helpful. If you try to visit baikalrafting.com :) I think they offer Kitoy as well. But a good English is not their strength :) Luckily for everybody, Google Translator rules.
