PAINTOBER Day 1 Abstract Painting with Colour & Form Mood Flag Blues & Pinks Inktober Inspired
Day 1 of Paintober and I am painting a simple flag with a couple of my favourite colours. Blues and pinks. I am painting postcard art in the form of a bunch of 'Mood Flags' which are colourful paintings in the vein of flags but are in relation to colour mood and sometimes emotion and senses.
October is also postcard month to send postcards so I feel this fits nicely.
Paintober is an annual event. In October you complete a month of daily paintings, where you either pick a theme or Prompt and then paint something in response to that prompt. I like colour and so this year my prompts are colour.
I have aired a set up episode of my prompts where I talk about this and paint the backgrounds in different colors which I am now using for the paintings.
I am using acrylic paint for these paintings, but you can use any kind of paint. The postcards are actually watercolour postcards, but I have given a base so acrylic works fine on them. You can just paint in watercolour if you want but dont pop a base on or do a set up if you use watercolour as the watercolour won't be able to react with the paper.
I am using the Cryla and Sennelier brand but I do have other brands and you can use any brand.
I am using a flat brush and palette knife and optionall other brushes and materials like oil pastel, chalk pastel, charcoal and watercolour pencils. Oh and the acrylic brush pens which I have found recently work nicely with normal acrylic paint. I have the Jimiao brand.
Episodes for this set of work are released every day around 6pm.
I am Zarina Keyani and you can find me on my website:
www.zarinakeyani.co.uk
Or on social media @zarinakeyani
The paintings are available on the UK Artists website here if you want to purchase any. www.ukartistsonline.com/detail.aspx?title=Mood%20Flag%201&artist=Zarina%20Keyani
The Painting Portal also is on Instagram and Facebook as @ThePaintingPortal and is on Twitter as Painting.Portal where I share channel info and updates mainly.

Landscape Abstract

Painting Abstract Landscapes is one of my absolute favourite things to do. Often, they will become something quite different, but I always start off with a landscape in mind. I am using some lovely paints and mixing the colour as I go along. A lot of art decisions are made on the hoof which dictate which way the painting will go. Ultimately you have to stop at some point and then thats when the...
Painting a Minimalistic Landscape Abstract on a pre painted background/Underpainting Using 4 Colours

Painting a landscape can be fun and therapeutic especially imagined landscapes as they can be whatever you want them to be. In this episode I take one of my underpaintings I did previously and work up a minimalistic Landscape Abstract. I really enjoy this type of painting as it can be quick and easy and still be full of colour and interest! Along with my usual red, blue and yellow colours I opt...
Leaf Motif Painting which starts off as a Possible Landscape Abstract Using a Painted Underpainting
Переглядів 6514 днів тому
Painting on a pre painted background takes the edge off the white of the paper. In this episode I start out with an idea to paint a landscape abstract but end up painting an abstract leafy motif, showing you how you can reduce the background and make it less busy. You have the option to go over the whole of the underpainting or to let some of it show. It's totally up to you as the artist. I lik...

Painting backgrounds can be a fun and easy process. Whatever you want to paint sometimes facing a white paper or canvas can be difficult so taking the edge of the stark white area in front of you makes painting easier and more fun to do. The best thing is you don't have to make the backgrounds great or perfect at all and you can do as much as you like. It's a sort of 'play' part of painting whe...

Painting source material as a project always helps to inform my art practice and painting. Inspirations can be anything and in this series of project based paintings. Abstract Painting and Arty Chat Paint on a Dark Background To Give Your Colours Life. Easy Abstract
Переглядів 2128 днів тому
Colourful brushstrokes were used on this abstract painting. The idea was to start it off with a dark background and then go from there. I wanted to see if the dark colour would set off the colours I added and would they be brighter. Often a white background makes the colours dimmer or garish one or the other so this was an experiment to see what happens with a dark background. As usual I used a...

A painting excercise where I used left over paints to have a bit of fun and see what I get. I used three colours only which reduced the palette nicely and I like the tones and colour I got. I wanted something vibrant so I didnt use any black only the three primaries but not properly primary as the ble was cerulean. So mainly I use any blue, red and yellow combo with a white or a black in this c...
Landscape Abstract Painting

Painting an abstracted landscape from memory. This is why I suppose its an abstracted landscape because you take what you know a landscape to be and then regurgitate it in paint. Personally, I never have a plan but a vague idea about a horizon maybe or a structure. In this one I think some red flowers possibly poppies emerged from the depths of my imagination. I used as usual three colours. a b...

Sketching and Painting Abstract Landscapes Comparison using Pastels and Charcoal, then Acrylic Paint
Переглядів 39Місяць тому
Sketching and painting fun! First I decided to sketch a rough outline and use some pastel but it turned out that I quite liked the sketch so I did another sketch which I then painted up. In comparison each has its unique qualities. The sketch has an obvious graphic quality and the painting is more restful! I typically used my three colours although I think I made a faux pas with the names on sc...

Great Idea! Getting my paints out! 😍
Very enjoyable video and narration. I like your painting style and mark making. It was quite a small sketchbook you worked in and ended up with so much detail. I don't use a rigger, palette knife or fan brush but I will definitely have a go now. Your colour choices were good too. Did you have a shiny surface on that paper. The paint seemed to move around quite a lot when you first started off ?
Thank you for your lovely comments! The paper wasn’t wet when I started but I think that the Cryla heavy body acrylics take longer to dry so you can move them about. I was hurrying it along a bit but you can spend hours on a painting rejigging it. Once ur in the zone it’s only finished when it’s finished!😊
The space behind what looks like a blue door on the right feels like it's a time portal, with very vague shapes. Maybe that's another time portal on the left too? I feel like there should be flashing lights coming out of them!
Digitally they could be added! On screen all things are possible! 😊
Lovely! This is fun! I love the yellow background, but the other colours and leaf shapes look quite three dimensionalish. Could use different motifs too, like stars, moons, bubbles, erc.
The sky is the limit with what you can add! Bubble painting is quite fun. Could do some of that later!😊
Love that last leaf u did❤
Thank you! Its my fav too! :)
What a great method you use here. It really works!
I agree!😊
Thank you. Its so good to hear feedback! Have fun painting! :)
Very cool! :) I like your use of the chartreuse coming through in the final piece.
Thank you! I find this technique great for lovely little anomalies. :)
Hi Keith Please copy all you like! The idea is that you have some fun painting and the best way to learn is to experiment and use all sorts of painting techniques! 😊
Thanks a lot for the tips and ideas.
My pleasure! :)
Thank you!😊
Miaoww! Great painting, purrfect!
Thank you! Cheers!😃
Thank you!🙏
I really like the idea of painting outside! The little palette is a good idea too. You need something that won't leak!
Thank you. Yes my water bottle is pretty secure and even when the top is off it doesn’t spill thanks to my shoulder bag!😃
I really like this! More please!
Thank you! Next video will be live on Sunday! 😊
Hello Zarina, you make it look so easy. I hope you don't mind but I just had a go at copying your picture and it came out not too bad. It's given me so many ideas. Thanks.
