    It's a good idea to 'practice' jacking up your brand new vehicle while it's sitting in your driveway. I had to search just to find the damn jack in my new transit and then I looked at the front end and it was not apparent to me the best place to place the jack and I'm an 'old' man who has jacked up a lot of cars in my life, but nary a single large cargo van. I'm jacking mine up to do some work underneath and am glad I am going through all these learning curves while I am home and not on the side of a highway in the middle of the night in a pounding rain! Thanks for sharing this 'educational' video for the community.

    How do you release the jack after it’s on the vehicle

    • @MindsEyeVisualGuitarMethods
      @MindsEyeVisualGuitarMethods Рік тому

      You twist the release which is right at the bottom of the jack. There's a slot at the end of the handle that will grip the two prongs and allow you to twist it to the release. It's like opening a pressure valve so open it slowly and watch for the van to start coming down slowly. Twist quick and it will plop right down maybe faster than you want

    I have 3 questions for you. First what size of jars did you use? How much salt do you use for the recipe? And last how do you store the sauerkraut after the 30 days?

    • @gibsonoutdoors5849
      @gibsonoutdoors5849 2 роки тому

      Denise… 1. These are 1/2 gallon jars. 2. Weigh you cabbage, convert to ounces, multiply the total ounces of cabbage by .025 and the is the total salt. Remember 1lb =16oz. A typical head of cabbage needs around 1 to 1.5 ozs of salt. 3. I leave it sit until we eat it. It just never lasts more than 30 days before we open it. Then I just keep in in the fridge. I have had them sit for 6 weeks fermenting and then spend 3 to 4 weeks in the fridge while we eat it. They are fine. Hope this helps. Good luck!

    If your tire is flat, aka little to no gap, that 4x4 may not apply.

    • @gibsonoutdoors5849
      @gibsonoutdoors5849 2 роки тому

      Jill that is a great point. Using a 2x6 probably better OR the jack and stand combo for strength and safety. Cause you still have to get it high enough to get that spare on. Thanks for the feedback.

      @CoolHandLouis Рік тому

      @@gibsonoutdoors5849 Do you mean that a 4x4 might be too high if the tire is flat? Also, what is more stable, a jack that is extended all the way, or a jack on a block of wood that is extended less? And why?

      I just did my front passenger tire on a sloped driveway made of pavers. Not a steep slope but the back was still higher than the front I only had it in park and didn't set the parking brake like I should have. So I definitely wasn't a safe as could be but nothing happened and I got the tire changed out just fine

    Hello. I know it has been a while since you installed the ceiling. I’m about to do mine with 1/4” pine. Do you have any tips for the installation on each side by the big styrofoam pieces? And what is the best way to support the t&g at the front of the van. Thank you

    • @gibsonoutdoors5849
      @gibsonoutdoors5849 2 роки тому

      I ran mine up close. I am planning on making a header piece for it to cover the gaps. I found that I didn’t need any support at the front. It is bolted down tight at the preceding ceiling brace. The ends of all the pieces bow with the ceiling and have not moved in three years. Good luck!

    I just installed this in Ford Transit 2020. I did still have to cut off the baby seat bar and widen the rear holes a little with a dremel. However I did NOT have to cut the plastic shroud on the side of the seat. Also the jack for my van is stored in a compartment to the side of the seat, not directly under it.
