Easily some of the best track information and footage I’ve seen mate. Some great tips for the start of the track 👍😎
Thanks Jeff for the positive feedback!!! It’s an awesome trip and a pretty special place to be all on your own that’s for sure :)
good video mate, Im thinking about doing a solo trip on the French line soon.... thanks for the video
Well done. It was great to watch. I’m just about to do it solo myself next month. I have a ranger as well. What fuel economy did you get ? I noticed you only had one Jerry can. Did that suffice the distance or do you have a long range fuel tank? My Ranger is the 2l bi turbo model so not sure if it will be about the same. Also did you do most of the drive in 4 high or low? Thank you for the great content to. Ive just subscribed as well. Fantastic filming.
Hi Rohan! From memory I used a lot less fuel than I thought I would (about 160ltrs) from Mt Dare to Birdsville...I haven't got a long range tank but I had an extra 6 jerry cans (one on the roof the rest in the canopy)..I don't carry much weight on the roof as the roof racks can't handle it and it keeps breaking every trip I go on :( Also I did almost the entire track in 4 High 2nd/3rd gear except for some of the really bad dunes I needed a little bit extra to get out of/over so it was low range 2nd/3rd with a run up..I was the first person through it so I was particularly bad in some spots (I got bogged 9 times in one day) but its easy to get out of...I worked out that if you shovel the sand aside and just slowly roll back, go up a bit roll back go forward a few times to create some tyre marks and flatten it down a bit it was much easier to get up and over...I didn't even need the MaxxTrax after I figured it out :) Mate you're going to love it! It's a bit intimidating doing it solo but with good preparation and a level head you'll get through it alright...the first two days is the roughest but once you get past the Hay River Track it's pretty easy going (also it took me 5 1/2 days to get to Birdsville...I'd lost track of the days when I said 4 days)..And also be very wary of the salt/claypans...you definitely don't want to get stuck in one of those!!! Have an awesome trip mate and let me know how you went!!!!
Hi again. I’m writing this from my hotel room in Alice. Just finished crossing the French line and now starting the Madigan next Sunday. It was a brilliant trip and I can’t wait to do the Madigan home. I crossed paths with some travellers at Poeppel Corner who just did the Madigan. They said at Camp 16 they had to come down the Hay River because camp 17 on was closed. So I’ll see how that goes. Thank you for your reply. Much appreciated.
Well done! Brilliant footage. What tyre pressures did you run with - did you change much along the track or set and forget?
Thanks mate! I pretty much ran 12psi front and 14 rear but ended up going as low as 10 front and 12 rear with no problems :) it definitely saved me on that claypan!
Great video, thanks for sharing 👍🏼
Good on ya mate . I can not wait to do the same this year
thanks for taking along on your journey, and for all the information you shared with us.
Thanks mate! And thanks for the positive feedback!
Great effort and a fantastic video 🥰 You should be congratulated on your wonderful accomplishment. Keep up the great videos and thanks again ❤️
Great vid, loved it mate
Thanks mate for the positive feedback!!
How the road to chambers pillar?
Overall it’s pretty easy (and they were grading some sections when I was there) but there’s a dry creek crossing that can get a bit soft and one uphill section that might be a bit tricky with a camper or off road van if you’re towing..apart from that any 4wd will get you there and back :) it’s certainly worth a visit!
@@therangerdiaries4575 is the uphill section a sand dune or just a steep hill?
@@darrinevans6858 its a bit of an uphill rocky section , not a sand dune..its nothing difficult..only would be if you were towing a trailer or van
Great job 👏 Fantastic video. Well done on having the courage to go alone.
Well done mate, I was about to reach out as I hadn’t seen you around for a while and then bang… Madigan Line Solo. 👍🏼 Nailed the night photography. Planted a seed for me, been meaning to get back over that way again.
Thanks mate! It’s taken me ages to do these vids as my computer is on the way out and I can’t afford a new one :( or another trip away..I’ve still got a few more to come though, Emu Field, Painted Desert, Northern Flinders and a few other bits..
Too easy, look forward to seeing the next ones. 👍🏼
Awesome Trip! There must have been so many times you felt like the last person alive on the planet.
That’s for sure! I’m guessing I was probably the most remote person in Australia at the time.. I didn’t see anyone until I got to Birdsville!!
Congratulations on crossing the Madigan Line on a challenging solo trip. Admire your determination and continous safety advise during the travel. Noticed you had to drive and also film all at the same time, pulled that off perfectly 💯. You just earned a new subscriber. Way to go mate. God bless you and cheers to many more adventures to come. Love and support all the way from PNG🇵🇬🇦🇺💪❤️💯
Thanks George! It certainly was an adventure and a heck of a challenge but I made it eventually!! It also took six days not 5 (I had lost track of the days towards the end) and I had to leave out a bit as the video was getting way too long :( And it certainly is difficult filming it all by myself..it kind of limits the sort of footage I can get and takes heaps of time but I think this one turned out pretty good :) thanks again for your kind words and positive feedback!
Congrats on the trip mate. It takes serious prep and balls to do that trip solo. Nice video too. Keep it up!
Thanks mate! It certainly was a hell of an adventure and a bit nerve wracking at times! Good preparation is certainly key, but so was watching lots of vids etc like this one to mentally prepare for it and know what to expect in terms of track conditions etc..Canning Stock Route is my next big adventure fingers crossed!!
Great advice, nice videography, you’re a mad bastard 😂 doing it on your own. You’re extremely lucky on that clay pan, that would’ve put the wind up you 😂. Good work! Congrats on getting the job done! Great life achievement, enjoy your journey. You’ve only got one.
Thanks Luca! That claypan was definitely a bit dodgy but not as frightening as seeing some of those sand ridges for the first time..that was a definite oh dear what the hell do I do here moments!!
Good video ya bloody mad job well done
Thanks Ray! My mum is pretty upset with me after watching it haha..she said I don’t want to know where you go on your trips anymore haha..thanks again for the feedback!
why were comments switched off for the video of salmon leaping in northumberland
Do you carrie 1 or 2 spare tyres? Rough tracks out there.
I definitely carry two when I’m in the outback!
Can't wait to see this in full. Thanks 😊
This will be good, looking forward to it. Hope the mighty Ranger went well. Thanks mate
Very nice, great work 👌 Not sure what happened, but I’m sure I commented before , 🤔. watching it for the second time .
Thanks Luca, I re-uploaded it cos it came out in low-definition again..Next video is the Madigan Line!
Wood from the bush is hard to time. It's usually too fresh/green, or too far gone and rotten or eaten by grubs. That stuff would have been OK in 9 months or so :) Cool little trip tho man. Thanks for making the video.

Mate, you must’ve ran over a black cat somewhere. Fuck that! travelling long distances on flat, desert highways to see rocks and have crap stolen, not my cuppa tea ! stick to the Victorian Highcountry . Love your channel though❤
Thank you Luca!! You are my rock!! You follow me on my journeys and always leave beautiful comments :) I’m trying to start my next vid but my memory card has shit itself again so I have no good footage to start the new vid with :( I’ve got mad footage of the Simpson after this next one :)
There isn’t a single one of my lifelong friends who have ever left a comment on here..not one of them..but 337 other subscribers are dumbcunts like you and me so we are all mates now :) true story xxx
@@therangerdiaries4575 100% as I get older the less people I want to hang around with, I reckon the world gone mad. one day, perhaps will cross paths in the vic high country , talk, shit and drink some beer around the campfire
I had a windscreen crack for no obvious reason. I think there are varying thicknesses of window glass.
Car windows seem be doing that now, mine just exploded on the freeway a few years back, reminds me a little of the old glass tables from the 90s.
Hi mate, it was 47 degrees when it shattered so maybe the heat had something to do with it? But it certainly seems to happen a lot more often than it used to :(
G’day Mate. Just discovered your channel and watched several videos. Will enjoy watching more of them I’m sure. We are planning a trip across the Nullarbor early next year but want to avoid the temperatures you endured. When did you do your trip? Really liked this vid and Ep 27 Israelite Bay to Esperance. After the bee sting and your other mishaps I wouldn’t go skinny dipping if I were you. Hungary fish are attracted to dangly bits! 😂 Cheers Peter
Hi Peter! Thanks for your feedback :) I went across the Nullarbor in mid February (it was about the 20th-28th) and I finished my trip in April at Easter time..I had a three week stretch where the weather was in the high 30’s to mid 40’s almost everyday, especially when I went further north towards Central Australia/Alice Springs..I was fortunate that it only rained right at the end of my trip. As you may know most of the gravel roads become impassable after rain so I decided to go in high summer so I had less chance of getting stranded so it was a bit of a trade off between the heat and hopefully not getting stuck..if you stick to the bitumen you will have no worries..And surprisingly it was a bit cooler the closer I went near the coast but further inland it got extremely hot..it’s definitely worth the trip though! There’s plenty more to see and do than I showed in my videos, so I hope you can get out there and see it for yourself!
That exploding canopy window might of had something to do with the UFO maybe ? Must of been some pressure build up to rip the spoiler off. Keep them coming !! 👍🏼
Thanks mate!! I’m just glad they didn’t probe me in my sleep haha..Alice Springs after this then the Madigan Line..but now my computer has shit itself so it might be a while until I get those videos done :(
@@therangerdiaries4575 nothing worse then when technology plays up on ya … hope ya get it sorted.
The exploding canopy window is not uncommon but what a pain in the butt for you. Hasn't happened to me yet thankfully. Thanks for another interesting episode
Thanks Ray! It certainly was a pain for the rest of the trip..and it took 4 months to get a new one :( it wasn’t fun driving around in Melbourne during winter that’s for sure!
You can’t camp in the hut unless it’s an emergency
😑 Promo*SM
Happy Birthday, I spent my 45th last year on my own.
Thanks mate! It was a great way and a great place to spend my birthday that’s for sure!
Don’t care if I never see another corrugated road 😜
Ozbloke keep watching my vids once I make them (each vid takes me ages to do) but by the end you’ll see that my car nearly fell apart on this trip..and then once I got home my left hand passenger wheel snapped off on top of the West Gate Bridge dammit..it’s just one disaster after another..but I made it through :)
Just jumped onto your channel mate Esperance is an awesome place to explore Your coverage is excellent
Thanks Wayne! I just wish the weather was a bit better when I was there! Stay tuned for the next videos!
Great episode, good thing it was dry the Holland Track, be a absolute mission in the wet 🤦🏽 And Happy Birthday to ya Mate 🍻
Thanks mate! It would be a nightmare in the wet, especially solo!! It’s definitely worth doing if you’re ever out that way!
Thank you for sharing happy birthday buddy. great work.
Thanks Luca! Next video is the Gunbarrel Highway so stay tuned for that one!!
Well done driving the Holland solo, excellent viewing. Thanks mate.
Thanks mate! I was fun and definitely worth doing if you’re ever out that way!
Thanks for another video. Great driving and excellent footage of wave rock. Looks amazing 😘
Was that corrugated road whose than going from mount dare to the Lambert centre I just went to the Lambert centre bloody high way just been graded
Hi Ray, those corrugations were pretty bad in some spots, all up it was about 50 odd kilometres so it just seemed never ending! But the road to Mt Dare was terrible when I did because a flood had gone through about two weeks earlier so that was definitely worse..I went back to Mt Dare later on during this trip and it was like a highway for me as well..it was certainly more enjoyable this time around!
Great video Pete. Keep on going with your videos. Loving ‘em 😘
Great Aussie spirit, well done. Great video. Thank you for sharing. Love it , Sorry but I was on the floor laughing 😂 Hopefully you’re ear is better.
Thanks as always Luca for the support! It took a few days for the swelling to go down haha
I was waiting for the Pete baduck to set in, and you didn't dissappoint 😂 I would wish you good luck for the rest of the trip, No good luck mate very envious🎉
Thanks Kevin, there’s still plenty more bad luck to come in the rest of the videos haha..and now I’ve got two broken ribs :(
Wicked video Pete. 👌💕I can’t wait for the next part. 👍❤️
Terrific looking landscape love your Videos. Had to laugh when you described him as a full, blown arsehole😂😂
Thanks Luca! I wasn’t very happy impressed that’s for sure!
I went thru there and had exactly the same problem with a hema. We took the wrong turn and ended up following a vehicle track that had not been used in a fair while. thru epsilon station so we just went back to using a compass. It took 10 hours to go from innaminka to tipoburra. We are going up the oonadatta track then the birdsville track in 8 days and you had better believe we ARE NOT using the hema. Cheers mate. Safe travels.
It’s definitely a bit hit and miss at times times so I still use paper maps and Newtracs which I have found to be pretty good :)
Nice episode… Plenty of full blown arseholes around these days. 🤦🏽
killer trip champ👍cannot believe how rude some people are by not stopping to check if all is well hey. If you get the chance stop in at Yalata camp grounds, awesome fishing. Safe travels
Thanks mate! Next trip will be back across the Nullarbor then up the west coast so I will definitely have my fishing gear with me..I’ll definitely stop in there and have a go!
What tyres you running ?
Hey mate, at that stage is was running BFG Ko2’s but I changed them over to Wildpeaks once I got to Esperance..I barely got 30,000ks out of the BFG’s..the Wildpeaks are good so far though
@@therangerdiaries4575 i just got the wildpeaks last week so keen to see how they go both on and off road
My impression so far is positive..I did 10,000ks on them during this trip over some pretty harsh terrain and they’ve stood up well so far
I had the BFGs km3 muddies so gone to an AT and on road it make a massive difference, this weekend heading upto the high country so will see how they go
