The first time I heard this song, I was about 38 and caught in another time of Despair, Hopelessness for the Umpteenth time since I was a terribly Twisted boy of 13 in 8th grade, 1969... First time that Suicide seemed THE answer... But time after time over the years, God intervened even BEFORE I KNEW HIM as SAVIOUR and LORD @ 21 Good Friday, 1977. Heard this song on Salem Radio "Southern Gospel Sunday" curled up on the bedroom in a Fetal State Meltdown... In reality a PTSD Panic Attack. These CATHEDRALS gave me a HUGE LIFT out of that pit in 1993 inside of about 6 minutes. Still AMAZED. So, to me, THERE IS ABSATIVELY POSOLUTELY ZEERROH ROOM NOR REASON FOR A-N-Y PECKSNIFFIAN COMMENTARY REGARDING THIS GROUP OR THEIR MUSIC... WE'RE NOT, N-O-T-T CALLED UPON TO TOLERATE EVERYTHING, AS RYAN DOBSON SAID SO WELL, SOME THINGS ARE JUST PLAIN STOOPID (Paraphrased). If one hazza problem here, go check out ZEPPIE, GRATEFUL DEAD, JIMI HENDRIX OR BLACK SABBATH --- WAS THERE, DID THAT, HAD THE HOODIE, NOT JUST THE T-SHIRT.... GOD RESCUED ME, AND SATAN WORKED OVERTIME TO SNATCH ME BACK.... GOD IS GOOD, NO, G-R-E-A-T, A-L-L T-H-E T-I-M-E...

I just love seeing Glen Payne get what my mother used to call the "Holy Ghost Cheerios" and do a little jump and skip as he sang to glorify Jesus with his glorious voce! Nobody could beat the magnificent low-down bass singing voice of George Younce that just seemed to go right through me! The piano player and the other two young men were all sooo wonderful, wonderful, wonderful as they exalted my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!!!

Could have put 2 more songs on this album if George hadn't rsmbled on. Smh

So love this group. I knew them. They’re the real deal. I saw George in concert before he accepted Christ and then to follow this group til they moved to Glory. I was in the room in Birmingham when we heard that Glen had just passed on to Glory. Phil came to my house after recording Championship of Love with the Cathedrals. He came to play me the draft of the recording session. I went with Phil to Chattanooga City Auditorium and video’d the first public performance of Champion of Love with the Cathedrals. Loved these guys. Talked with Roger during his last days before death. So much to cherish. I was in the room when the group stopped by at the Southern Baptist convention and they surprised us with a few songs. So many great memories.

Wow, this was his last year on Earth! We’re really fortunate to have this interview! I heard the Prodigal Son of the Faith Family Freedom Hour with my mom and she said my Grandpa sang it for the Church. It’s my favorite now.

I love the gospel quartet sound. The harmonies are outstanding! My family has a long history in gospel. They were called The Happy Harmony Quartet from Chattanooga, Tennessee. I posted some of their albums on my channel.
