But be careful, as explained in the video, after the change you have to erase the error codes with 1 ODB and CARLY or BIMMERCODE plug. The message does not erase itself! Just wanted to leave this here, but if it doesn't work. I tried using the same bluetooth connected phone to call the phone number when this error happened in a dead zone a few weeks later when I wasn't in the car but somewhere else with good connection. Had a call for a minute. Went back to the car. Phone connected to car and now the SOS malfunction error disappeared. I already tried pressing down the SOS button and cancelling it and it didn't work. Tried this a few weeks later and it worked! Light is gone now.

I was able to clear the code using an OBD adapter and BimmerCode app and didn’t have to replace the battery. In my case, even though the SOS malfunction light came on, the actual button still worked. I knew it just needed a reset. Had the button not worked at all, I would’ve gone this route and changed the battery too.

Thank youyour video saved me about $500 which is how much BMW wanted for labor (not including parts). It took me about an hour, but I replaced my armrest over the weekend. Pro-tip: it's easier to remove or add the (2) pins THEN hook the spring if the armrest is all the way open. If I knew that to start with it probably would of been a 15 minute job. Thanks again
