I have an 06 A8L and got a P2093 (Camshaft Position Actuator Control Circuit High Bank 2). The part you got off eBay looks exactly like what shop recommend I replace.

Just came across this video, I'm not sure if you still have your 04 A8 but wanted to ask how is it running with the Timing Chain Actuator solenoid that you got off eBay?

Didn’t didn’t see if you checked the actual crank cog behind the damper. These normally shear the key way and are a big issue, if you don’t have ignition though good chance the distributor gear broke.

You could also have an issue with the distributor gear - these often go bad and get upgraded with a brass gear.

I have a vibration that comes in at highway speeds. Pronounced at 80mph. I was thinking the same driveshaft mount in my 93 S4. My car has all poly/solid mounts and the driveshaft bearing was replaced previously. Appreciate the video!

You were lucky! I advise anyone else to remove the bumper. Two of the biggest headaches I had were the crankshaft pulley which had badly seized bolts which could not be undone without overnight soaking in release liquid. And the viscous cooling fan was unbelievably difficult to unbolt. Both would have been impossible with the bumper in place. Also if you follow the Bentley A6 manual for timing the cam chains it is WRONG. Memory fails me but it cam down to something like it’s 16 teeth spacing and not 15. Just be careful and check it out. If you want to do the water pump change as well, you need the bumper off. Taking the bumper off is not that bad, the various wires for lights and pipes for washers are a pain but you won’t break anything and you will make life a whole lot easier for yourself, including attaching the bar that locks both cam belt cogs in place.

I had the code P0343 and replacing the faulty cam sensor eliminated the code.
