Assassin's Creed: Unity Retrospective Review | Better Than I Remember
First time a played the game i loved it right until the point i had my first naval battle and the enemy ship exploded because my men shot arrows at it..... Stop playing immediately
I'll never understand the complaint about the protagonist canonically having a child. Your choices don't matter to the canon.
The best review of Alan Wake!✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻
Thank you!
You sent him to Vice City 🤣
i sent him to gta 6 lol
I would really recommend turning off most of the HUD; it looks so much better (especially without those ugly numbers). I just leave on health bounty and a few bits that are helpful
It is not just a game, but using a game to lure you into actually enjoying history, giving you just a bite, so enriching that, older assassin's games barely scratched the surface with tha lost potential, but limited resources; as well as the blending of old legends, myths, tales with the modern fiction take on them. The sheer amount of connections to the real cradle is just outstanding and much praise to the historians/programmers for digging and including so much. If you are there for pure gaming it is understanble on the limited variety after the 30hours mark, I went back to it to do Alexios (after Kassandra +150hrs, the better of the 2), dude he speaks on occasion with a russian accent😂, Kassandra is oscar perfect and still haven't had enough of it. It could be an endless "library" just by unveiling a single location or npc name, the real life lessons and references are just brilliant. If you have read some of the real life stories, you ge the hilarious takes on them, the liberty and the jokes. origins/odyssey/valhalla are masterpieces for those that need a little more culture but still having fun.
Nice video! Is there any way to play this game or COD1 with a controller? Please help, I'd really appreciate it! 🙂🙏
i have no idea
If ea hadn't killed it in the first place it wouldn't needed a revival Hopefully we actually get a ds4
Preach!
Just started playing this game for the first time, new to the franchise, and I'm loving it. Addicted right off the bat. Always loved fallout games, was addicted to fallout 4 but i got sick of not being able to traverse any part of the city without constant game crashing so i gave this game a try and oh man, im enjoying tf out of it
it is really damn good
Bro was like "I GOT YOU HOMIE"
LMAO
I don’t think you know what procedural generation means. It means it’s randomly generated based on an algorithm like the landscapes of Minecraft. Having AI generate your cutscenes for you with guidance isn’t procedural generation. It doesn’t randomly generate cutscenes willy nilly
The GDC talk given by Odyssey developers that I reference in the video is titled "Procedural Generation of Cinematic Dialogues in Assassin's Creed Odyssey". Heres the link: ua-cam.com/video/DFM5zbekZ7c/v-deo.html
I remember first playing this after Valhalla I was like wow this is somewhat better then Valhalla my only complaint was how the combat could of been better other then that I had fun till this day I still be playing it
Cod UO was kinda good, the only problem that i have with it is the part in the American campaign where you have to kill the soldiers with the AT guns, if you miss a shot you've already failed. The British campaign was the most fun. The Soviet campaign felt more like a move. The American campaign wasnt that good it felt like it was just there to show off new guns
Your reviews are great dude, subbed.
Thanks a lot!
@@PioneerBread thank you for good content 👍👍
I tried playing AC Valhalla. Went right back to Odyssey after a couple days
Nice review, mate! Your earned my like and my sub. Keep up a good work! 🍻
even with its small issues mentioned in this video, this expansion was a blast as was the main game but i enjoyed this one a little more. it's nice to just get immersed in a game about wwii and not have modern gaming/woke bs ruin it for you and i unfortunately played vanguard 💀🪦 we went from full on campaign expansions to mp map packs to store bundles as extra content, every time getting less and less for our money.
Took 120 hours to finish everything. Satisfied though.
The open battles between the Athenians and Spartans was so awesome. I wish there was more of that in Valhalla.
Just to add cause you clearly didn't know that: all the voice actors, apart from the modern day ones, are either Greek or of Greek decent that do speak the language fluently, so the accent you hear, is a Greek accent, they're not trying, they are not native English speakers. About the levels, if you don't do side quests and contracts of course you are going to be underleveled, every city has a message board, on those boards are contracts, you pick them up and you are going to do them as you play, they are stuff like kill 10 athenian archers all across greece, sink 5 pirates ships and stuff like that. If you stack contracts, you can sometimes even skip a level cause you'll level up so fast. I disagree with Odyssey being too long and a chore, if you truly like the game you want more of it not less. I have 8k in this game and still play it almost everyday.
Agree...ODYSSEY BEST GAME EVEEER MADE..😂😂😂...played 3000h...you play more than me...are you sleeping with ODYSSEY broo
🤓☝️
People always praise the visuals on these RPG AC's. I think they look muddy compared to Unity or Syndicate
You’d be wrong lol
@@bloodarcher7841 in what regard. The graphics are muddy and lower res than both older games...
No link to the dev blogs?
I just finish last mounts the trilogy….and o boy I fuking hate so much(because I played with the intention to platinum) I got few moments when I wanted to stop and move on origins
Hey man, just found your ac odyssey video and I gotta say, I've been enjoying your content. Are you planning on doing AC: Valhalla anytime soon?
i will be starting valhalla this month, but who knows how long itll take me to beat it lol
@@PioneerBread haha, awesome! Also what's your PC spec man? Seems to run these games smoothly
A game I really enjoy is never long enough. Take AC Mirage, for instance. That game is way too short. In my opinion, if the game is awesome, the longer it takes to finish, the better! : )
wait what retcon ? ac origin is the origin of the hidden ones, the precursor to the brotherhood, why is ac odyssey being before that a problem?the bloodline exists before the official assassins as an organized group
Turn the HUD off and explore
I just finish playing odessey and it took me around 265 hours play I did every mission. When I first started I didn't want to buy any DLC but I really love the story and bought all them at the end. I never felt under level when I got j got to atlantisDLC the mpc where giving me a fight but I enjoy the challenge First blade DLC's love it as well Now I started assasin creed Vahalla. Odessey is one of my best games I played and got me hook on the next one
ODYSSEY best game eveeer made...
Another favourite of mine from the series.
My favourite in the series.
One of my favorite releases this year. I've always been interested in the Dead Space series but was never able to get into it. This game really clicked for me, though.
When is the big head man spin off getting a review?
CaLiStO pRoToCoL
I like Space
me too
Too much of a good thing? I definitely don't understand that. It's like paying for a Camero but you get the corvette for the same price. I'm always annoyed when it ends and wish I could keep playing. I'm thankful they are so long. I just started Valhalla and I hear the exact same thing. Anyway love the games. Every minute
Funny how people say the game is too long. For me, it was the only game I ever finished and immediately restarted a second play though. Anyway, the complaint that a game is “amazing but too much” has always seemed a bit incoherent to me. It’s like complaining that about too much food in a buffet, or too many women in a massage parlor. Just pick what you like and enjoy.
Yeah...played ODYSSEY 3000 hours...finish 6 times
@@zicuvalentin2251 Nice. 3~4 playthrough for me, not sure the total hours. Just picked it back up recently after getting bored with RDR2. What a comparison! Both open world games, but one is fast, smooth and fluid, the other slow, clunky and dull.
@@sonofwotan ok but RDR 2 is more for exploring...while ODYSSEY is action game i like both games but ODYSSEY is number one for me and after ORIGINS and after BATMAN ARCKAM KNIGHT and then RDR 2
@@zicuvalentin2251 Good list, man. That’s the thing about these open world games; there are a lot of them and we can pick the ones we like.
@@sonofwotan yes...and we want good games at least 200 hours and fun with 3rd person(don't like first person games for example AVATAR)...
I played both CoD 1 and 2 for years....and only just played this expansion - it's amazing - in some ways better than CoD 2 - SO surprised that what i thought was a failed and unworthy expansion turned out to be better than the base games - The difficulty level is much harder, there is much more going on and the weapons feel much better - The levels feel like much bigger battlefields rather than small maps - the enemies behave better and are more of a threat
1:58 for me it was the complete opposite lol I played COD1, BF42 and MOH:AA with all their respective expansions from 2003 to 2009 and to me switching from health bars to regenrative health felt weird when I switched to modern games.
Im currently playing origins, the 3 RPG assisins creed games, origins, odyssey and Valhalla where different, the graphics of the location and story where the breed and butter of these 3 games
I'm looking forward to part 2 :) i really enjoy your channel. I have no doubt it'll continue to grow. Video essays/retrospectives/analyses/reviews/etc are the biggest, hottest things right now. You just need _one_ video to pop off and you'll get a devoted crowd that will continue to grow. I believe in you, and I'll be here watching, promoting, sharing & cheering 🥳🖤
Thank you so much!
Odyssey is a great game in itself and would have much more praise if it had no "Assassin's Creed" tagged on it. I enjoyed it as a game itself and will always be one of my top ten. I remember there is also a feature that tours you through Greece and other spots and that was quite nice.
Facts if it never had that assassins creed tag it would’ve sold more
I would say it only sold well because of its tag. Even though I wish this wasnt called assasins creed, naming it that made it easier for them to make money
I'm so sorry you didn't like this game. I had a lot of fun playing it every second, it was fun hanging people, tagging and killing bobbleheads, going through stealth missions, doing platforming in Mexico. I finished all the platinum content in one go, and I don't understand why people don't like playing it.
Odyssey (Too much) / Mirage (Not enough) Yall need to decide what you want or be quiet fr.
Ever since the change to origins these games are amazing! Massive open world and great story.
Wait what?! Have you not played AC2, Britherhood, Black flag, Unity? You think the open-world change helped the franchise?! What the actual fuck.
@@Pingwinho open-world does not hurt AC. AC has been trying to go open-world since the beginning, with progressively bigger and bigger maps. The important thig is to have great cities in addition to that, which offer fun gameplay. imo, the best cities in the newer games are Memphis, Athens, and Jorvik (haven't played Mirage yet)
@@FelixFelinis Mate, read the context. The OP to whom I was replying clearly meant open-word changes as it is usually defined with regards to AC - from Origins onwards. Massiveness did not help AC at all - Origins was at the very limit (for me), Odyssey got way too bloated and even most reviewers and hardcore fans weren't able to 100% and platinum Valhalla.
Great video! I just FINALLY beat the game today by beating the 2nd DLC. It was a great game in my opinion (which might not be much of an opinion since this was my first AC game lol), and I’m hoping that when I play the other games they’ll meet my enjoyment of this one
The level up music was definitely catchy but did you find after playing so long the menu music gets really annoying? I got so sick of it haha
I loved this game. An open world Ancient Greece and our own ship free to sail wherever we want to and the whole of Greece. This is a dream game come true. I loved it! 🥷 ❤
This game was and is basically if you remove anything to do with assassins creed then it really is a good rpg game
It is probaly not my fave ac game but it is def up there with black flag and ac 2
I’d forgotten this movie ever even came out lol…hmm
2:20 On the pop-in thing - for what it’s worth, I’m not sure I’ve ever noticed close-up pop-in on PC with the settings cranked, so it may just be a limitation of the console’s specs. The only pop-in that’s noticeable is on terrain that is VERY distant. Like, “thousands of meters in-game” distant. It’s so far that I don’t notice it unless I stop the camera to look for it happening. It’s definitely an impressive game - like you said, there are like…no bugs to speak of, which is crazy. I’ve only run into one pinpointable bug, and it looked basically the same as yours (50+ hours on my save). [Specs I’m running the game on: Ryzen 9 5900X, RTX 3070ti, 32 gigs RAM, PCIe 4.0 SSD]
