"If Ye Love Me" for Voltage Modular Core
Переглядів 85Місяць тому
This video features "If Ye Love Me" by Thomas Tallis, played through a choir sound synthesized on Cherry Audio's Voltage Modular Core. Three stock CA filters are used to provide three resonant peaks of a human vocal "Ah" sound. No samples or wavetable oscillators were used, just simple analogue subtractive synthesis methods.
Vocal Formant Choir for Voltage Modular Core
Переглядів 42Місяць тому
This patch uses three stock Cherry Audio Bandpass filters to create resonant peaks at 2540 Hz, 880 Hz and 590 Hz. The Poly Octave Oscillator uses a simple pulse wave, which sounds quite human at around 17% pulse width. There is vibrato, chorus and reverb to thicken up the sound and give it more ambience. The frequencies of the filter peaks were taken from this online article: corpus.eduhk.hk/en...
First Principles Vocoder
Переглядів 34Місяць тому
This Voltage Modular patch recreates the analysis and synthesis parts of a 10-band vocoder. Two instances of the Cherry Audio module Spectrum Analyzer are used. One dissects the modulation signal (voice) and outputs 10 channels of envelope follower voltages. The other splits the carrier signal (Micro Stringer) into its constituent frequency bands. The envelope follower voltages are used to modu...

Aeons Day Autobahn
Переглядів 1642 місяці тому
This was a section from the original version of The Aeon's Day by Under the Dome which appeared on the CD-R "The Heavens". It combines the 'countryside drive' theme of Autobahn's title track with a tribute to the melancholy piano of "Morgenspaziergang". It didn't make it into the version of The Aeon's Day which appeared on "The Demon Haunted World", as Dave Law had a strict 'no covers' policy a...

GTA1 Bleeding Stump - Just Do It (Satanic Backmasking)
Переглядів 314 місяці тому
When Grand Theft Auto 1 was released in 1997, it caused controversy on many fronts. One of the strangest criticisms came from conservative baptist minister Rev Orall Cummings, who took it upon himself to listen to the soundtrack in reverse, in the hope of unveiling satanic 'backmasked' messages within. The track which he felt was undeniably created with unholy intent was "Just Do It" by black m...

Aliasing Comparison between Cherry Audio Analog and Digital Oscillator models (No sound).
Переглядів 73Рік тому
Cherry Audio supply two different oscillator models in their Java SDK for Voltage Modular development. The Analog oscillator drops the upper harmonics when playing high pitched notes, in order to prevent aliasing from happening. The Digital oscillator by comparison, does not attempt to prevent the generation of alias frequencies.

Destructive Interference Due To Multi-Path Delay In Voltage Modular
Heavenly. Nicely done. :-)
SImply BEAUTIFUL!!!
Clean!
Can the sampler load different samples per keys and picking samplers based on velocity?
@andreasoberg2021 The "Sampler I" module can't do that, no. You literally have a single sample loaded into a module and it will only play back monophonically. That's why I had to use six modules for a six-voice patch. The great thing about having it in Voltage Modular is that you can manipulate parameters through voltage control. This extends to things like sample rate and bit depth, sample start, end and looping points. If you want multi-sampling and velocity switching, I'd suggest that you'd be much better to use a stand-alone sampler plug-in which has been designed with these features in mind. You theoretically COULD set up a system like that within VM, but it would be horrific in terms of the number of modules you'd need and the CPU usage. If you do choose a third-party sampler plug-in, you can still use the Cherry Audio "Plug-In Host" module to gain control voltage manipulation of knobs and switches on the plug-in's front panel within the VM environment.
Wonderful!
That is gorgeous❤
Love them both. :-)
Lovely. 50 years on, and as a cover version, that music still has the power to impress and makes great listening. More, please. :-)
ngl, I want a longer video like that
Love it ! Great interpretation Grant 😊

I believe it’s a vw beetle cause of only one dial and the flat dashboard. I’ve got a 63 a the steering wheel is the same. Mines got 170hp and only weighs 3/4 of a ton. And it’s connected to a 4 speed manual
Beautiful!
I’d love for you to remake the whole album. It’s Dave Amplexus btw.
Thanks for the vote of confidence, Dave. However, I think the entire album would take me the rest of my life to complete! 😄 The only reason I created this small section was to advertise the modules I had created for Cherry Audio Voltage Modular. You can see the full selection of 1970s cover versions here: ua-cam.com/video/Tz_4zhvnn9c/v-deo.html
I don't know who the man in the photo is, but my mind took his appearance as the appearance of Orall Cummings. Who then paid me a visit in my dream last night and tried to sedate me because I didn't like his church rules.
Oh dear.
I used to have this single...the B side was an electronic tone called "Do not play this side".
Hey! Colin has some old CDs that contain some early versions of Lagerstar and Automatic Transmission. Would it be okay if he shared a copy with me?
Absolutely. I'm completely fine with that. I've let Colin know that, too.
@@utdgrant Thank you!
Superb album, inspired by the sci-fi film Forbidden Planet. :-)
More, please!
Two minutes and eleven seconds before the melodic lead synth line comes in. Masterful. That first half of the music is a wonderful blend of sequences over delicate synth strings. The whole piece builds into a beautifully rich treat for the ears. Not that I'd suggest listening to it from there, but you could, as an option. 02:12
Great demo of a Gary Numan classic. The Poly Moog was always a favorite synth for me. I may get the VST version sometime.
I’ve got the original polymoog keyboard. Highly recommend this 😊
Have you had any luck with cherry support with this? I'm having the same issue.
I raised a ticket with both Reason Studios and Cherry Audio. They both acknowledged and confirmed the issue, but neither has provided a solution as yet. Fingers crossed!
@@utdgrant Cool, thanks for getting back to me. I'll raise a ticket too, hopefully it'll kick things up a notch.

I love ❤❤❤ Tangerine Dream.
Goddit in the 90s. Thought I was the only one who had it 😂
Short but sweet. It would be a pretty epic challenge to do a full cover, as from memory the original's approaching 25 mins long?
I did a slightly longer version of the first part of Autobahn in this demo of Dome Music Technology modules: ua-cam.com/video/Tz_4zhvnn9c/v-deo.html No plans to make a full-length cover, though. There are some tracks which are sacred to me! 😇
Nice version. :-)
I enjoyed it. Every bit of Berlin School is worth a listen! :-)
I watched a bit of this, and somewhere a unicorn died. In general, as tribute bands go, Steve Hackett has it won (and he's an OG). This just leaves me cold,. Last time I saw TD was in London, with Edgar playing. I left halfway through...a sad pastiche of a band. Maybe I'm just an old, old fart now. haha......I'll treat you to a night with Hackett when I'm back in the UK !!!
Steve Hackett is superb, but I prefer his original stuff. E.g. Shadow of the Hierophant. Stunning. :-)

Action pack jack’s song is very much longer than the others!
I think Zena's song is the longest, just a few seconds short of four minutes.
3:44 did someone cough?
Stunning! What synthesizer or software did you use exactly? I need to recreate this.
It's Voltage Modular from Cherry Audio. The patch can be created using Voltage Modular Nucleus edition, which is available free-of-charge. The additional modules from Black Cloud Industries, R_Ware and Dome Music Technologies are all free to download, too.
@@utdgrant Okay, I'll try that . Thanks!
I ❤ voltage modular
my suspicion would be that these oscillators are wavetable-based oscillators. if that's the case, then i guess for the lowest octaves there are either no more bandlimited tables or they switch to a naive signal gen. you can see the steep frequency cutoff somewhere below the nyquist frequency. and if you use the fine knob you can actually see when the tables are supposedly switched. a lot of ca oscs exhibit this behavior. if you're looking for clean, virtual-analog oscillators, i invite you to check out R_Ware ;)
the dsp is not great with those things...but they are super fun. there are many tradeoffs in life ha. I really hope they do an update one day as there are so few virtualizations of the 2500 so it would be super amazing to have one that's as accurate as possible
The problem appears to be that when you switch between the 250Hz range and the 125Hz range, the oscillator model changes from AnalogOscillator (best for non-aliasing audio signals) to a DigitalOscillator (best for mathematically correct LFO / modulation signals). You can hear the results of my own experiments here: ua-cam.com/video/i_dLPSYm5Aw/v-deo.html
@@utdgrant I saw the other video. I really appreciate your analysis a lot!
@@utdgrant I wonder if other cherry audio/ mrb stuff does the same thing. The dsp behavior is irksome. I love using the platform otherwise
I think the other vm osc aliases even more.
@@jensschettler1732 Basic oscillator from R_Ware and the Vult stuff is really good @ChR_is

Powerful, dark, and cinematic.
Nice one! Litttle Plucker GUI deviates from the actual one I see in VM ? Also: recreating this patch I encounter noise bursts when gliding to different notes. Any suggestions to remedy this?
See my reply to Charles Hennen, above. Little Plucker has been updated and is behaving differently with portamento. KString by BCI can be used as a replacement Karplus-Strong source.
ua-cam.com/video/fQLSjxJRre8/v-deo.html
Thank you for this simple but cool sound; I managed to recreate it, very happy.....until tonight, suddenly any second tone whilst holding a note becomes a loud burst of noise. Any ideas?
Yeah, it's messed up in my version, too. Centripidity has updated Little Plucker to Version 1.10 and it's behaving differently. It doesn't appear to have the green button beside the Gate input, any more. This was crucial for stopping the retrigger noise during portamento. Try replacing the Little Pluckers with KString modules (by Black Cloud Industries). You might also want to use the ACE Constants and Multipliers module to add a negative offset to the pitch going into the V/Oct sockets to bring the keyboard pitch down 2 or 3 octaves. Maybe set the left channel to -3.00V and the right channel to -3.01. It doesn't sound quite as good as the patch in the video, but it's getting there. Alternatively, if you have Zeit from Dome Music Technologies, there is a great V'Ger patch in there (even if I say so myself)! ua-cam.com/video/R87iNHCRds8/v-deo.html
@@utdgrant Nice, thanks a lot!
