Absolutely appalling, no wonder chibson sales have gone up, get your money back! Chances of getting a perfect one are very slim, enjoyed your video though 😊
Glad you are happy with it. You finally got that 1 in 1000 that the hacks at Gibson accidentally gets right.
If you buy a Gibson, you are buying it as a status symbol, or for the name. I'm pretty sure even Harley Benton has better QC than Gibson. If you want to buy a single cut and you want a quality instrument to actually play... buy an LTD EC1000. There is a reason its called the best Les Paul Gibson never made. Plus, it looks better, plays 1000 times better, has better pickups (actual choices) and it costs less than half of what a piece of Gibson firewood costs.
And according to Gibson all their guitars are plecked before leaving the factory....... yea right
I know southern "right to work" states want to make child labor a thing. I don't know if Tennessee is one of them, but it makes me wonder how many children are already working at the Nashville factory?
Not a deal breaker? None of these issues should be on a Gibson for what they charge. At that price point, any guitar should be good. Nevermind one with Gibsons reputation and history. This is why im a Fender guy. Although im sre people have had issues with those too but, personally I never have.
Can you play it?
My 21 LP Standard I purchased new at the Gibson Garage in Nashville. Staff helped me for what I was looking for and I found a dandy 60's series; no flaws and sounds amazing. I am hoping that now JC is no longer the CEO and Ceasar taken his place, the QC has not slipped. Seems like we are seeing more wood shavings in the pick up cavities like the Henry J. era at the end of his ownership group and the issues you had. Glad you posted this follow up video to fair!
I second the buy a heritage vote. Great guitars, more ‘authentic’ in their quality and dedication to the customer
Junk !!! 🤮🤮🤮
Damn…I just can’t imagine paying that for a guitar, only to receive such a shameful example. That really sucks dude.
This is not quality control problems. These are workmanship problems. The workmanship is atrocious. QC is just being told to send everything through. If the customer complains then will do something. Anyone willing to pay the prices they are asking now for this junk is crazy. I bought a custom Les Paul back in the 80,s that had the bridge mis drilled by almost a half inch to the left. I haven’t bought a Gibson product since.
You should have seen a half inch misalignment when buying surely?
@@ChrisShortyAllen I ordered it and picked it up at the music store. Was in a hurry. Strummed a couple chords, put it back in the case and went home. It was actually the tail piece not the bridge. A little harder to notice. Anyway of course it would not stay in tune. Every time you stretched a string it stayed there. Gibson replaced it but the replacement had issues also. I definitely wouldn’t order another one. I might by one in person after going over it with a fine tooth comb. However I doubt it. Too many great guitars on the market Now. EVH, Suhr, Anderson, Even a PRS if I was hard pressed to get something. No, no more Gibson junk for me.
Gibson and Boeing must be hiring from the same “talent” pool.
Why can’t electric guitar companies learn how to built perfect fit and finished guitars like acoustic makers such as Martin. Martin guitars made in USA are absolutely perfect.
What do you expect for $149.99 off Amazon!? Lol. 😁😁🤣
Get a Nash Paul. It’ll sound better, will be set up well and you won’t be afraid to put a mark on it. 😊
the Boeing of guitars....I bought one last year and sent it back as well.
I've got one of these, beautiful guitar.
Thank you for your evaluation, a candid opinion of the new Gibsons is always needed due to the over hype and price. It’s a known fact that there are guitars being made that are almost flawless and make good sounds and feel great that are priced fairly. I believe Gibson is over saturating the market and that many, maybe even half the buyers are not able to notice the flaws and will jump at the chance of a little break in price. The problem is there are too many of these showing up at full price and the dealers who care get better treatment and the one who don’t get the crap. And now they are building another false reputation on the new over priced Epiphones, with the same BS reasons to pay twice the price for something with a changed headstock. Gibson sells junk guitars all over the market and they and their new management should be ashamed by the smoke and mirrors clown act horse and pony show they put on . Greed is at the forefront of their agenda not customer satisfaction. Why they make such asinine mistakes with their product is legendary.
So i noticed one "flaw".....they put the knobs from the 60s standard on instead of the 50s lol
What a hassle. Buying a 2k plus guitar should be an enjoyable experience. Sorry to hear you've had to deal with this. I bought a new Les Paul Standard a couple of years ago and the guitar was perfect in every way. I did my research but also guess I got lucky in some ways. Maybe you should consider a Japanese Tokai. I've been considering a gold top from them as of late. Best of wishes.
Just get a high end Tokai or Navigator and never have deal with Gibson QC again. My Tokai LC290S is the BEST Les Paul Ive ever played in the last 20+ years and this includes USA Standards and Gibson Custom Shop Reissues.
Buy a PRS Single Cut.
The cosmetic finishing issues wouldn't bother me, but the fretwork problems are really unacceptable, considering this is supposed to be getting a full PLEK process from the factory, which implies they should be putting some effort into the finishing process.
I bought a Standard a couple of months ago. I had to return it because the binding on the neck was chipped and was very roughly sanded, the frets were also very badly levelled. I was so devastated. I'm glad you finally found your dream Les Paul.
I wish they did a dark back version. I know they have the slash gold top with dark back but they should make a standard 50s gold top with a dark back
You sure they didn't give you an R7 by mistake? Because it sounds like the runaround was worth it just to get this one sent to you
There are $200 Amazon guitars of better quality. Absolute shameful. Stop buying Gibson guitars. Trash company that doesn't care about their customers, just sucking Slash's dick and laughing all the way to the bank.
Sorry that happened to you. I gave up on Gibson years ago after this one high end shop told me that they just had to stop carrying their products due to issues like this.
I ordered a lefty Harley Benton double cut away Gibson knock off for 260USD and prepared to have a big laugh and then ship it right back. I was stunned. It is set up perfectly and plays perfectly, and there are no flaws that I can find. Gibson should be ashamed.
My HB TE-62 was bad. Some of it was workmanship, some hardware, some design. I've thrown some money and time at it and it's pretty good now.
Great video! I've owned 4 PS's and never found one I've really bonded with. To be fair, I've never found my "forever guitar" of any brand....yet.
I bought a Harley Benton SC550 and a TE-52 for under €300 each. Both absolutely flawless. What people are willing, or are expected to pay for a name on a headstock is nuts.
I left a comment above, but I was shocked at how well-made my Harley Benton is.
Yeah, go with PRS .. this shit never happens, even their Chinese made crappy ones are better than this, never mind their USA lines of guitar.
Love Gibson and their history, but I've since moved on to PRS .. Core and Private Stock guitars, they're always consistently flawless.
I have a slash gold top that I got 2 years ago. Mine was perfect no issues at all and it has been just amazing love it.
I have a 2020 Gibson Les Paul Standard 50’s. It’s perfect. Stays in tune. Sounds fantastic. Probably the best Gibson Les Paul I own and I have several Custom Shop models. It’s also the heaviest at 10.4 lbs. AND I got it USED at Guitar Center in Austin, TX for right at $2,000 out the door. After seeing it on the wall and how expensive it wasn’t, I tried it out. And then I had to have it. I’m amazed someone let this guitar go.
Gibson has improved the QC of their guitars over the past few years. Yes, one will slip by every now and then, and that has a flaw ..but me to i will look it over with my hawk eyes .. I just bought one at a guitar shop and it is flawless i cant find anything from fit to finish wrong. But you do need to look them over They are expensive for a regular working man, and my wife is still mad at me (we could have bought a new living room suite) So that's the next thing on my list..😊 I used to hear all kinds of horror stories about their QC and held off buying one for years.. But i am happy for you ,she is a beautiful guitar and Gibson took care of you ... now that's a big plus, company that stands behind you and makes it right .. Hats off to Gibson
Hmmm...Why does a 50`s gold top with 50s tuner pegs have 60`s volume/tone control knobs?
Good question, I have 2022 50" standard in cherry ,same thing fat 50's neck kulson tuners and 60 knobs, just came that way. Who knows maybe they ran out of 50 's knobs during production..
@@mikeenos4040 Actually, I recall a video with a guy that had a 50s LP mentioned this 60s knobs and Gibson said, it was a mistake during assembly.
You're 100% right. They're supposed to come with the amber knobs. Personally, I like the 60s reflector knobs. I've had a set lying around for about 12 years which I may put on my current Les Paul.
@@finishin.my.coffee8780 I used to, but now I dont like the 60 knobs. haha
He changed em because he likes em. Previous comment
Sadly, over 50% of Gibson buyers accept this and Gibson USA knows it, and counts on it. That is why they let inexperienced hack trainees work on guitars before they have the experience just to keep up their weekly/monthly/quarterly production numbers and get the guitars out the door. I am planning on getting another LP and I don't give a crap because I will continue to return them until they send me a properly manufactured guitar. They and the dealers can eat the cost of the returns.
I have worked for 3 major gun manufacturers. 2 German, and this same BS goes on there too.
I bought one of the LP tributes before they discontinued them. The fingerboard and the fretboard wasnt seated or sanded evenly and it was pathetic. Prior to that I bought a 2023 60s faded LP and the body and neck binding was so sharp it cut into my arm and fingers. Even with the $300 discount on the Faded LP and $200 on the Tribute they went back. I bought a 2023 LP JR that had $100 off and they gave me another $100 for some minor finish defects. I kept that one because it has "it".
Why does it have the wrong control knobs? Did you change them? Also, try dropping your pickups by a full turn on each screw, see if that mitigates the vibrato. I suspect it's the magnets pulling on the strings.
I switched the knobs, I had a set of these and just prefer them. I'll play with pickup height, thanks!
@@linnykenneyleather ah, OK, they give it a ‘70s vibe. Good stuff.
A Very enjoyable video set. Great story with a happy ending. Nice and positive . Don`t neglect a bell brass tailpiece ! Seriously though : " If it ain`t broke don`t fix it" .Well done .
Thanks for the kind words! I'd love to try different tailpieces just out of curiosity.
Last April I bought my dream guitar a Gibson Les Paul standard 50s but it wasn’t until July when I Received a fourth guitar that I got one that was perfect. And it definitely took some of the joy and excitement out of the experience because I was expecting to find something wrong with it. I’m very happy to have my dream guitar but it is sad that the experience of buying one’s dream guitar was ruined a bit by bad QC
Awesome you finally got a good one! It only took me 3, I might have run out of patience by the fourth one haha
@@linnykenneyleather when I was waiting on the fourth one I knew that there wasn’t going to be a fifth so I had already an alternative in mind
Thanks, Karen.
How are the frets? I’ve ordered a couple recently directly from Gibson and both had issues with the frets not being leveled. I’d use a fret rocker and it would rock on several frets. I’m still in the process of finding the right one myself lol
This one is great, see my other video about the few that I had before it... not good. Gibson's warranty program is actually great, if you send one back they'll send you a new one. It takes a little while but worth it if you're not happy. Good luck!!
Great video,thanks for the share
Glad to see you got a guitar you are happy with - I was kind of bummed out for you when I watched the last video about the defective gold top. Anyway, now you have a beautiful guitar that plays and sounds as good as it looks. I picked up a gold top with P90s a couple of years ago and it is awesome - can't say enough good things about it. Enjoy it.
Thanks so much! All is well that ends well. I'm a little jealous of your P90s it's been awhile but I need some P90s in my life again

Are you sure the “tremolo” effect you are hearing is not just the pickups are too high and they are pulling the strings?
No clue, Thanks for the tip. I'll lower them and see what happens, it's straight from the factory and they don't seem too close but it's definitely worth experimenting with
@@linnykenneyleather For sure! I had this problem on my American Standard Strat. The lower strings had this warbling sound that almost drove me mad until I read online about lowering the pickup height. And boom the problem was gone.
