The Price of Freedom: A Special 4th of July Message from 11th Airborne Division Historian
In this video, American bobsled athlete, author, keynote speaker and 11th Airborne Division historian Jeremy C. Holm shares a special message regarding the sacrifices of those who have fought and died for our freedoms as Americans.
With a special focus on the 11th Airborne Division in World War II, Korea and beyond, Jeremy's powerful message reminds us the cost of our rights and liberties as citizens of the United States of America and he invites us all to devote a few moments of our holiday to remember the more than one million men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice so that we can be free.
Jeremy asks, "Can we really celebrate a day that honors our freedoms as Americans without giving pause to remember those who died to keep us free?"
Descending from a long line of soldiers, Jeremy was lucky to race bobsleds and wear the patch of the United States on his uniforms to honor all those who have served and to represent the nation he truly loves.
Please enjoy this moving message from a proud American who readily recognizes that while we may not always see eye to eye, and although we as a nation have made many mistakes in our history, we truly as blessed to live in the land of the free because it is indeed the home of the brave.

That is a very common story, many of the Angels preferred to talk about funny training experiences or tell stateside stories rather than discuss the war. That's part of why I wrote my books on the 11th Airborne in World War II and created this channel, so the families of our Angels can learn more about what went on "over there"

My father-in-law Maynard Marburger was with the 11th at Campbell when they went over to Germany in/around 1955. He had the misfortune to hit approximately 10 feet of snow in Germany when his parachute deployed in the feared Mae West by 1957 I believe. He has passed away and I always hoped to find details on that jump or others, any tips on locating such data?

I have many stories from the Philippines, pre occupation through post liberation. Those war stories gave me a ton of perspective, and humanities resilience. The atrocities committed were so horrific, but the stories of survival in a group of 20 are incredible. It saddens me most people don’t know Real Life Angels saved a country! Makes me wonder why the Pacific theatre of war is not common knowledge as much as we talk about WWII…especially since Japan hit us not Germany 🤷🏻‍♀️ Thank you for educating this new generation on uncommon truths🙏🙏🙏✨🇺🇸✨🙏🙏🙏

His name was Walter Young and he was in the 11th airborne recon platoon, he had 2 silver stars(1 from tagatay ridge and one from the Los Banos Raid). The pictures that you have are some that Grandfather kept after the war. At 3:30 he is front row 2nd to right, at 6:02 he is paratrooper on the far left. His citations is also listed on the 11th airborne headquarters company website. I would provide the link but UA-cam keeps deleting my comment when it includes a link.
