@@Lord_Pegleg Yeah I owned a 2002 911 Carerra C2. Luckily it did not have any issues but I did end up selling it. Apparently Sumebore cylinders cannot be scored which is only available on 2017+ newer cars

They are fun cars , had a 2001 but I will say I find my 944 more fun, sounds crazy but it feels more connected even though it’s terribly slow

I’ve been all through the pines. This was a demo car I got to take out. I have to get back into something with some more ground clearance. I miss it.

I gotta say, I’m definitely impressed. I had a 16 STi that I built to 700whp, sold that, and now currently have an 06 STi that’s stock. This VB chassis is great though. It’s stiff and provides a ton of feedback, but also refined and easy to drive everyday. My current STi is always “ON” and ready to go with a somewhat harsh ride. With the VB wrx I feel like you have an option between having a car you can thrash around corners and beat up while also being comfortable for the family.

I certainly agree.

It would be too unfair…my bionic leg would be kicking home runs all day long.

@@darylstriffler1431I sort of have that already. My running leg is like that. Kinda like “Tigger’s” tail from Winnie the Pooh.

I can’t get that type of twisting rotation in the ankle, I just don’t have control over that. So unfortunately no. That’s sort of where my left foot braking comes into play, it’s just a little bit of a dance between the brake and clutch when operating a quick maneuver.

Believe it or not we’re actually the opposite. We have more base trim and premium trim levels over our higher limited and touring trims. Especially on foresters.

Over in Huntsville al they are mostly loaded 🎉

@@christopherkeene3647 we have a ton of premium Trim levels, a few base models, a lot of wilderness trim for the crosstrek, and then for all of the models it’s a little sporadic on the limited or touring. Our allocation has been good, we get what our customer base wants for the most part.

Can’t say, I’ve never driven a Hyundai other than an old sonata. Does Hyundai have an off-road type vehicle? I know the Kona competes with the crosstrek, but I’m not sure how their drivetrain would stack up against subaru. Would be an interesting comparison.

That’s sort of what I’m leaning to. I want to run this to the ground, it has 82k miles on it so I’ll try to get as long as I can out of it before going to an LS.

I can still feel the pedal through my socket. It’s a strange sensation. When my leg is up against an object, I can feel that. Most of my accelerations are usually fine movements unless I’m really laying into the throttle. I’ve also worked with tuners who are able to rework the throttle response so if I wanted I couldn’t get more response with less effort. If I had to make an emergency stop the first thing I would do is step on the brakes. If I’m in a situation where I’m still in gear and I stall out because of it, I’d rather stall out versus getting into an accident. It’s happened to me a couple of times where I’ve had to make very fast stops. Believe it or not, in most of those situations I’ve been able to get on the clutch quickly, throw it into neutral, and then slam on my brakes.

Check out my footwork at 3:48. I wasn’t prepared for that truck to be stopped and turning right as I came around a blind corner. It’s not SUPER fast, but it’s quick enough. There have been times where I’ve done maneuver wash faster than what you see in that moment.

Thank you. I had a version of this video where I talked about left foot braking while being on the track and how driving with one leg allowed me to brake boost and come out of turns faster. When my first instructor asked me about left foot braking I told him “not a problem, that’s all I do.”

I cut that section out though since I figured most people would only want to hear the basics. One day I’ll do a track video and talk about driving on the track with one leg.

@@Lord_Pegleg As someone who briefly experienced a 700hp boosted GC8 you are a straight up madman hahahaha. That car made me understand what actual “fast” is lol I can’t even imagine what that must have been like on track.

😂 My man!! Come back to us! I’ve actually never driven a taco. I had a Jeep rubicon for a year and it was a lot of fun, but not practical for daily driving.

@@Lord_Pegleg Jeep lover here too brother. It has to be manual transmission though. My Taco is 5 speed manual. Couldn’t imagine it without. I will def subscribe to your channel. I would def have a Subie as a daily if that Crosstrek has some more power and a manual transmission… I’d keep my Taco as my off roader

@@84meisaid I ordered my 24 in a manual but then jeep had the recall. So I wound up finding a rubicon in NC that fit the bill but it was an auto. I’ve been driving stick with one leg most of my driving life so it’s hard to go back. Now I have an older 2006 subaru STi and a 1988 Porsche 944 turbo. If I get an off roader again I’ll either do an older TJ jeep or even this crosstrek wilderness. But I’d spec out the wilderness to my liking. I agree, manual really is the only way. The auto was nice for traffic, but you’re not connected to the vehicle.

@@84meisaidthanks! I’ve been on and off UA-cam for the last 15 years posting videos and then made a new page during the pandemic for more car things and less music and dance. I’ll most likely combine them here in the future.

I gave that one a watch before I took this out just to see what other people were doing with it off road.

@@jamesmason3798 thanks! I used there video as a reference to see what was capable so I didn’t break anything lol there were some things the crosstrek just couldn’t handle, like some steep rock climbs.

I’ve seen that on driving sports, he does a objective great review, unlike the roller boys of TFL….. they mostly say Subaru can’t do anything! I’ll trust this brand practically over any other, Mazda would be my second choice. These are just a very versatile, reliable, safe, and can do offloading. Period!

My old crosstrek never had those issues. Can’t speak for the newer ones. My 2006 STi is still in good shape, a little bit of rattles here and there but that’s to be expected from an 18 year old subaru. Time will tell how these hold up.

I had so many issues with my Subaru 2015 WRX and 2017 WRX STI. Both were meticulously maintained too. Never buy a Subaru again. My Tacoma is king.

@@Dave-so7sf my STi totally blew up. But I was heavily modded on a stock engine. Then I built it and made over 700whp. It was an animal. Now I’m leaving my ‘06 stock.

@@Lord_Pegleg Been there done that. Stock motor blew up just out of warranty. Went with a fully built outfront V3 motor, built heads, big turbo whole nine yards. Built motors don’t last either. They don’t blow up just wear out quickly. Better off buying something fast out of the box with a warranty that will retain its value. Sorry salty against Subarus. I’ve just seen so many people have issues with them.

Subarus are excellent in the mud and dirt. Most of our customers buy them for the affordability it gives them during the winter season, but this just proves it can hang with some of the big boys when it comes to off roading.

I agree, as a stock vehicle this gives you the best of both worlds.
