Note about the content creator for this channel. Passing along over 50 years of technical experience/expertise owning, driving, and working on what are now classic Mopar automobiles, both professionally and otherwise. Raised by a Professional EE in a Mopar only household, was designing DC circuits way before I could drive. Learned to drive in a ’66 Dodge Coronet 500. First car was a '66 Satellite/361. Second car, ’70 RR/383/4-spd, worked on countless other cool Mopar’s for friends and neighbors alike before graduating HS, fun times. Associate’s degree in automotive technology, cut my teeth working at Chrysler dealers in the seventies. Owner/operator of a high-end auto/marine electronics installation shop in the eighties and nineties before migrating into dealer IT before returning to my Mopar roots with my current cars/projects. Of late, have been posting info countering a lot of technical misinformation about these old cars, especially electrical subjects.
Part 6, The ’60-70s Chrysler Electrical System Demonstrations. Not-so-stock Loading.
Part 6, Final part in this series of videos on the classic Chrysler electrical system. One way to run this Chrysler ammeter-based charging system safely with a bit of added not-so-stock aftermarket loads.
As with other videos posted here, I do try to use correct terminology and pronunciation to describe this kind of technical subject matter. I try not to get too deep in explaining electrical theory (the study of the principles and knowledge that explains how electrical systems and components work). I may mention what theory or law may come into play for these discussions from time to time, however.

Part 5, The Big PROBLEM with the “Shunt Wire” by-pass and other band aid “fixes” promoted for the as original and all stock Chrysler charging system. The importance of circuit protection. Does this by-pass really make the original electrical system safer? Or could it really be making the electrical system far less safe. Current stressing this system with the by-pass in place. What roll does Kir...

The Chrysler ammeter-based charging system from the sixties-seventies and the magic alternator to battery wire “Under-hood ammeter by-pass”. Sometimes referred to as the "Shunt wire" by-pass by some. Is it a permanent fix or a band-aid repair? Does it make your Mopar electrical system more safe or far less safe? The details nobody mentions. Over-charging or over-voltage at the battery on the original Chrysler charging system.
Переглядів 3538 місяців тому
The topic of this video is over-charging or over-voltage at the battery on the original Chrysler charging system caused by excessive voltage drop in the charging system regulation reference circuit. Includes some suggested repair options, diagnosis and procedures. Pretty common issue on the 1970 and up electronically regulated system, common too, throwing regulators at the problem doesn’t resol...
