Bro is not the throat goat
As far as anime, my favourite series ever is Cowboy Bebop. You said you like sci-fi and comedy, so you should love it, I would think (it isn’t a comedy, but it is often very funny). If you end up checking it out, make sure to get the movie also. It fits in the timeline at about two thirds of the way through the series. I also second the Ghost in the Shell recommendation another commenter made. Those movies are fairly essential when it comes to anime sci-fi, and do have some similar themes to what it sound as though this Terminator series is about.
I’ll definitely check out Cowboy Bebop as well as Ghost in the Shell someday. My first exposure to the CBB anime was constantly hearing people dunk on the Netflix Live Action adaptation when it came out a few years back.
@WeAreFilmStash I personally couldn't get into CBB even though a bunch of the Guyver 89-91 dub actors were in it, but those that bash it along with any of the other Live Action movies clearly haven't seen MAtLA Adaptations at their worst. There was a time 1991s Live Action The Guyver was considered the worst, then it was Fist of the North Star, then a toss between Dragon Ball Evolution and Speed Racer. But quite frankly it's easier to turn a Live Action adaptation of an IP into an anime than an Anime into a Live Action.
I want to recommend for animes two of my top favorites: The Guyver - Guyver Out of Control (1986) - The Guyver: Bio Booster Armor (Original 12 part series that ran from 1989-1991) - The Guyver (1991s Live Action movie with Mark Hammill in it & the first American Live action adaptation of an anime if Im not mistaken) - Guyver: Dark Hero ( 1994s direct to VHS sequel to the first Live Action movie with David Hayter in it) - Guyver: The Bio-Boosted Armor (2005 and most accurate representation of the manga to date, with the author authorizing or making some of the changes to the story) And here is a huge suggestion if you liked Terminator Zero: I recommend watching Ghost in the Shell-anything and everything, including the Live-Action movie and Stand Alone Complex 2045. - Ghost in the Shell 1995 - Ghost in the Shell II: Innocence - Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex (Season 1), 2nd Gig (season 2) Solid State Society (animated movie) - Ghost in the Shell Arise and The New Movie (which has a passing of the torch with in one of the scenes wont say were though) - Ghost in the Shell 2017 - Live Action Netflix's Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex 2045 (I would recommend you watch SAC/2ndGig/SSS first before watching this series) I do like others like Witchblade, Elfen Lied, Marvel's Blace, Gundam 08th MS Team, Battle Angel, and a few more. But as a whole Guyver and Ghost in the Shell are my top 2.
Thank you for the recommendations, I’ll definitely look into the Guyver series for sure! I know for people who like anime this could be a point of contention against me, but I own the Ghost in the Shell anime in 4K, but have only seen the live action one with Scarlet Johansson, I bought the 4K LOOOOONG after viewing the remake. I didn’t think it was a bad movie by any means, but definitely understand how people got upset over the race swap of The Major.
@WeAreFilmStash Most welcome! And I wouldn't consider it a point of contention if you use the lie action Golhost in the Shell as a starting point to the series. I was introduced to Guyver with the live action movies first then the animes
the best part about this movie is it brings attention to the original, it also commits' a grave sin, being boring, some movies are so horrible they are memorable, this one isnt even that
Loved this video so I hope more people see this
Thank you, I appreciate that
I fully agree with you on this review, there was way too much going on. I feel like could have taken out some of the side plot points and have a strong linear storyline and it would be good. The way they ended the film left me with more questioning than satisfied results. But yeah i gave it a 7/10, the over marketing definitely hyped up the film more then what it actually is.
2:52 my friend is not going to like that because he was born in 1988 and I don’t think he’d like to be described as “almost 40”

Oh good! King Diamond is on UA-cam!!
5!
Missed opportunity on dennys part to not have a green drink, or the shake mint called beetle juice. Great review as always!
With how it tasted, the Afterlife Menu in general was a GIANT missed opportunity in general lol
You should check out the comic The Crow: Curare Written by James O’Barr Its a great unique take on the Crow story and would make an amazing but very dark movie
Just looked up the premise and that sounds awesome. It’s a shame these films after the first one won’t move on past the basic elements of the original Eric Draven story when they could mine new angles and stories from the comics or novels. Thank you for the recommendation!
Bro i feel shame being a crow fan and not knowing about the DMX thing. Sounded fresh! I remember when edward got cast I was buying a new album from american head charge and i acrually was pumped cause i wanted edward to habe a good decent comeback. The only good thing was the score (kinda) when i saw the make up my soul left my body (in a bad way) but i still believed....until it came out. 😢 It had a cool atmosphere indeed. The acting is pure cringe.
I definitely think DMX’s Crow would have been SOOOO much better. I think Furlong could have been a good Crow but the story and the resources for Wicked Prayer were just not there.
@@WeAreFilmStash not at all men sorry u went through that for the ones who didn't see or didn't know it existed hahaha 🤣 now we have to wait another 20 years for some crow material goddammit.
I didn’t hate the movie but I didn’t like it the action was pretty cool and bill’s crow was good . When I first heard that this movie was going to follow the comic more then the first film I was like ok I can get behind it . But there really was only a few scenes . Idk it wasn’t that good
I’m sorta the same way on it. There’s good things in this reboot but they take too long to get to it, and the main romance and villains don’t make the wait worth it. I haven’t really heard from many people how this film is more accurate to the comic compared to the first film. I’m starting to read the comic now and the only thing I can spot is the scene of the white horse in the barbed wire fence.
It’s a tie between 1 and 3 for me
Three was the best! No biases here.
😂😂😂
honestly, i don't even care if it's "not saying much." *you don't know how much suffering i've endured with Wicked Prayer.* i think-- no, I BELIEVE this IS better than Wicked Prayer by an absolute huge margin. maybe not better than City of Angels or Salvation, or god forbid the original, but i don't care. i went into this movie EXPECTING it to be better than Wicked Prayer and that's what I got, and I'm glad for it.
Anything is better than Wicked Prayer lol, I just wanted a movie that wasn’t a complete retread of the first again like all the sequels were. I wasn’t expecting the first, I just wanted a decent movie, and while it isn’t great I think it’s getting a bit too over-hated online. There are good elements in this thing.
i do commend you on being slightly more forgiving, though. like, i've even heard the comparisons to Madame Web of all movies XDDD they have NOT seen Madame Web, i am fully convinced that they haven't.
Wicked prayer was so awful. I did really like city of angels. And salvation was tolerable. Of course the original can't be beat.
I loved Vincent Pérez and what he brought once of my favorites after the first and come one cameo by the deftones 😮
Watched both back in the day. The Crow (even with all its issues) has stuck with me. The Crow: City of Angels? All I remember is it was shot in a piss yellow hue.
The sets on The Crow: COA are pretty great but the yellow hue surrounding everything, I agree makes it look ugly. So…mission accomplished lol
@@WeAreFilmStash From memory, I believe the director stated in an interview that he was robbed in an area lit with sodium lamps (they have that yellow hue) and he found that lighting "scary" as a result.
The remake makes Crow City of Angels look like the original..
Both aren’t that great tbh but the action in the new one was at least good
Im happy you can substantiate my thoughts on how awful CW shows look. Also, villain Luke Crash looks and moves like a 2003 Tekken or Dead Rising character. Cylander head, 11 in wide mouth, mullet.
Hi mate, cheers for the mention, i did warn you but 2/10 was way too generous!
It would have been a 1/10 but I’m a sucker for gorgeous landscapes.
Nice review and you made some interesting points, what the Weinstein's did to this film was criminal because i think there is a good film in there but what we got was a butchered mess and its safe to say i don't think will be ever get to see the directors original vision for this film. Cannot wait to see your review of the 4th movie Wicked Prayer, brace yourself before watching my friend!
While I know its a delicate balance between creativity and profitability due to all the money on the line, I just wish the studios would actually trust the people they hired to helm these projects. Its ridiculous how many good films end up getting destroyed because of stories like this time and time again. If a legit Tim Pope director's cut came out I would give this movie another chance. With how these movies have been going progressively downhill I'm not expecting the best for Wicked Prayer lol
I totally agree if we got the original version the film would probably better remembered
I really enjoyed it...great performances and a heart wrenching story...
Great analysis. I'm going to respectfully disagree about the flashbacks, though. I feel that the incomplete quality (and the viewer's frustration with that brevity) serves to underscore the sense of unfairness of the lives cut short. They're memories that serve as a reminder that they're gone, nearly-nameless and all-too fleeting, and maybe the kind of happiness that never stood a chance in the bleak world with its weird rules. They flash on the lost potential, unfinished lives, and the fragility and tenderness that proved to be fatal vulnerabilities for Eric and Shelly. Too much backstory, or too much detail, would be an overdose on sappy. There's just enough sentimentality while leaving you wishing you got to spend more time with them. That's hard to pull off, and I think it works. Full respect for your opinion, though.
I really like your interpretation of this movie’s flashbacks. While I didn’t view it that way when I watched it for the review, I think there’s an argument there that with how strong Brandon Lee’s performance is, (beyond the flashbacks) he conveys loss perfectly that a history is felt beyond just what the audience sees. I personally would have liked to see more of Eric and Shelley’s story, but like you said, that is hard to pull off without being too sappy. When I revisit it someday I’ll keep this in mind.
I literally watched this for the first time the day before this was posted. HOW DO YOU KNOW MY LIFE... Great review tho!
I’m glad you liked the review! I would have loved to see this in a movie theater, but Netflix is also nice
Mr Godzilla Mr kong Mr human character
Slow pacing is nothing more than a pretentious direction trick to try to elevate performances. Amazing cast and character dynamics that could have had incredible tension if the script gave them more. Instead we got conversations that crawled at 2mph. No real people talk that slowly to each other.
That’s a fair point for some movies but I don’t completely agree with your point. There are plenty of films out there with deliberately slower pacing that go along with the atmosphere, character studies or themes they are trying to achieve. Two examples I can think of is “The Green Mile” and “The Irishman,” both are higher profile slower paced movies that have elevated performances, but the pacing highlights their respected themes. “The Bikeriders” isn’t anywhere close to those movies, but something about it connected with me even if it wasn’t completely perfect in its execution.
Great point in response and great examples listed. Your comment made me realize that I’m not or shouldn’t be bother about slow pacing by comparing it to reality. Film is make believe and escape, right? So it comes down to a director’s style and choice of pace and over time we’ve generally accepted “slow pace” = good, well excited, well thought out and overall good performances. I guess I want to stand up for the Aaron Sorkins and Woody Allens and of the world who can give us fast paced dialogue that has depth and is intriguing. And Bikeriders could have had that style (maybe not neurotically fast like Allen, but just faster in general ) and would have been a different or better…ride of a movie. (Only slightly sorry for the pun). Thanks for your review and comment
*well executed
Bikeriders was terrible .. boring no storyline.. Bugs bunny voices.. over acting.. too much posing.. all around BORRRRING…. 4/10
I understand your frustration…this was advertised as a 60’s Sons of Anarchy type movie, only for it to be a slow paced recreation of an exposé on 60’s bikers. I’d be mad too if I saw more of the marketing before watching the film.
Never forget Lance Slashblade and his sacrifice 😔

Lions, Tigers, no bears? Oh my! What a missed opportunity
Please review Ping Pong Summer! It my favorite movie. It’s what the people are yearning for.
I remember watching Fury Road in theaters & buying all previous movies right after. I put this on first & just didn’t continue because this was so damn boring. I ended up watching Road Warrior a few weeks ago & it’s probably the one most people should start with
I’ll have to check out Road Warrior soon but that sounds like very good advice for people wanting to seek this series out. It’s disappointing, even with hampered expectations that it wasn’t gonna be Fury Road I really thought there would be more to like about the original film
Mid Max
If you havnt seen them review the tarrentino films thatd be cool
I haven’t seen all of Tarrentino’s movies but I could review them down the line
This is the new baseline for movie ratings. Rotten Tomatoes is dead to me.
Monkee 8/10 😎
