best best best realy best😊😊😊😊
Still wondering how long cutter wheels last and how to know when it needs to be replaced? I know somebody out there knows 😎 where are you somebody and why won’t you tell me? Awaiting a hero here…. winner winner chicken dinner could be you!! Claim your Good Samaritan prize today and answer the question
You are too funny. There are so many variables. E.G. Have you accidentally run over the solder line while trying to remove a piece of glass, have you chipped the cutter (run your finger over it), is the glass starting chip on the edges when you run the cutter over it, are you pressing harder and harder to get a good score line, have you dropped it? It is almost the same rules that apply to scissors. I've had my personal cutter for years, but the classes I teach and the abuse the cutter gets means a change out at least once a year. Hope this helps.
@@glassartdiva 👏🏻👏🏻 thank you sooooo much!
The square is carpentry tool. They come in several sizes and can be found in any hardware store
What size is the square and where can I buy one
Your soldering is amazing perfect.
Thanks for the tutorial You do beautiful work Patricia
I’m a beginner and can’t seem to find information explaining how long before I should replace my cutter wheel and how to know when I should can you please advise? Thanks for your video
bit useless...my oil isn't coming out...no advice on this...just basic use not really maintenance..
Try turning the screw to let some air in so the oil will flow.
I learned quick to not put oil in cutter I keep oil in small jar dip cutter tip at dab on paper towel much less trouble
I bought 2 different ones but it's not cutting
Hold the cutter perpendicular to the glass, use steady and even pressure as you make your score. Is there a stained glass shop near you that offers classes? I encourage to you take a course if you can.
@@glassartdiva In my county we don't have trhose classes, it's more to cut glass bottles to reuse them.
Have you watched videos using a glass cutter for bottles? www.eternaltools.com/blog/bottle-cutting-how-to-cut-a-glass-bottle.
@@glassartdiva yes I did that but it doesn't separate. I don't know why
The water may not be hot enough, the score needs to be even pressure all along the score, etc. I found at the beginning of learning that practice and watching/reading other sites helped. I wish you the best
Can't see what you are doing.
Is there any chance to sharpen the glass cutter head?
Thank you 😀
Thank you!!! I've been looking everywhere for this info! This was exactly what I was looking for ❤
Thanks! Beginner here, thank you very much
I like it very much. What kind of wire are u using?
18 ga pre-tinned wire. Wear gloves, it heats up quickly
Thanks so very much..your the only one that has explained how the glass cutter works with your 1st pen cutter..brilliant..plus love your idea of dipping it into sponge..thankyou thankyou 😊
Beautiful solder.
What kind of lubricant you use?
white Lithium lubricant but any anti seize lubricant will work. you can find it at an auto parts store
I bought a handle and sleeve puller worked to get the bit off and used your technique of sanding - did a lot of sanding to get it back on
thank you for such a great video. so clear and easy to follow. One question i have is How do you know what size Hobby came to use ?
I’ve only seen it in one standard size (Canada & US). Thanks for your kind comments
5/64”
I’m new and still learning all these amazing tips and tricks ….. you will never understand how much this helped me with adding wire to my project ❤
OK the nail polish tip, freaking brilliant
Very tutorial video! I learned a lot! Thank you!
Do you use lead solder for hobby came?
Thank you very much. Due to a recent health issue I have developed a vision issue that makes it hard to see when just soldering a project. I amswitching to came to make my projects look nicer.
Hi Thanks for this video. I have a question about hobby came. Can I put the came on the foil without tinning the foil?
You can but you would have better adherence tinning first. Also, you have to make sure all the copper foil is covered if you just add the came to the piece without tinning.
can I use baby oil in it I ran out of oil
I would not recommend baby oil. If you have olive oil in a small cup, you could dip the cutter into that.
Thank you so much for this information and stating the size 5/64. Your piece is beautiful
dont know what you mean about the nail polish tip😒
Take a bit of nail polish and paint it onto the bit, one straight line up the side of the bit. When you use the bit, the polish at that point will grind off. continue using the same spot until that spot is used up and then move to the next spot where there is polish.
I need help getting the current grinder bit off….it has no nut holding it in but it won’t budge any suggestions
Try spraying a little WD 40 and wait a bit. Also there is a tool that plumbers use that grips onto the bit and somehow pulls it off. I’ve never used it but it’s worth a try. Another possibility is to take a small elastic and place over the hole. Put the Allen wrench in the hole and try turning it. I hope this helps.
thanks alot
Thank you. Very Helpful.
That has got to be The cleanest grinder I've ever seen! Loving your very informative videos. Thank you for posting!
I've had my Toyo pistol grip well over 20 yrs. and it has been good to me. You're right; if you take care of your tools, they'll last. Thanks for posting this video!
One question. Do you have to use copper foil on the outside before doing the hobby came?
Thanks you so much mam.
Those are some great tips!!! Thank you...keep info coming
The nail polish trick is good
Thank you so much! Just what I needed!
Great idea!!! For some reason, the pattern and glass cutting is the hardest part for me. I'm definitely going to try this method. Thank you.
This is fascinating, is their any other kind of oil you can use in a pinch if you don’t have the specific glass cutter kind? I’m building a couple dozen fish tanks and appreciate the advice in this video for my potentially shattering adventure hahha 🐠
Idk if you’re still looking but marvel mystery oil is great
@@scottkelley7356 I’ve already broken all my glass hagagag I had some old second hand louvers
I use sewing machine oil cheap and works great
Hello, I can not remove the socket (douille) it is taken, do you have something? Thank you
