He didn't pull the flap up.
I follow Ford's recommendation of different weight oils depending on the season. 15w-40 for summer, 10w-30 for the shoulder seasons and a 5w-40/10w-30 blend for the winter. I find the 5w-40 to thin for the summer, engine feels "loose". Been doing this for 600k kms with oil changes every 8k kms. Never extend the changes on these engines, even if I did an oil analysis I'd still change it when I do. Oil's cheap, these engines even going on 20 years are not.
Excellent video!!! Thank you! This is extremely helpful!
Ik i can trust him when he has a yellow jacket in the first frame of the video 😂
I am only 10 en I ndrstan
HELL YEAH, LOVE IT
What do y'all consider safe highway speeds for this setup? TIA!
We're did you get the arch oil from
Does your camper ride ok on top of your plastic bedliner? I have the same type in mine and I read those should be removed first. Going to be getting a camper soon so im curious if I can leave mine in with no problems...thanks!
I was told to remove the Plastic Bed Liner and get a Rubber Bed Mat. The Camper will have a tendency to slide on the plastic one.
I'm new to the 6.0 diesel world and I watch lots of great videos on keeping it running great and the down side of not doing preventative maintenance. Even though I prefer the Ford 7.3 eng. I just took a chance on the 6.0 and I'm seeing why a lot of people hate the 6.0. first thing I found after hundreds of videos is instead of a lot of regular style flat gaskets the 6.0 is mostly put together with O rings which becomes hard and brittle then start to crumble and break down
I trust these for a 97 chevy pickup , the truck bed metal seems thick enough for support . I installed them on a 2010 tundra , No way I would trust these , it probably would hold the camper , but the metal is much thinner on the tundra that I am sure I would of ended up with some bends in the truck bed . So I went with the 700$ option and used torklift on the tundra . Older chevy with heavy metal good to go .
hello, Just curious, a 6L v8 motor takes 15quarts per manufacture spec, why would you do 12qt? why wouldn't you do 15qts and call it a day??? 12qtz is way too little and 16 qtz plus the additive is a little much. Thanks!
Drill holes through the top of the truck bed. HELL NO!
You lost me at Rotella. Always stick with Motorcraft.
So you don't have to take your fill cap off prior to draining oil? I thought ppl did that for venting purposes
Just helps drain faster
I have the same 03 F250 6.0. 72K. Just started putting the Archoil Fuel additive in it. Do you use that as well?
It's ARCH OIL not ARK OIL and there's no need to add it to the oil filter housing, just pour it into the oil fill tube!
What’s the difference between? It goes to the same place.
PLEASE STOP USING OIL DRAIN PANS A HOME DEPOT BUCKET W/LID (BUT FOR YOU SHORT BUS GUYS YOU TAKE THE LID OFF WHEN YOU DRAIN IT) PLENTY OF ROOM. AND IT SITS UP CLOSE TO THE PLUG SO YOU DONT GET THE DREADED WIND BLOW OIL SPILL FOR YOU DRIVEWAY GUYS. NO CHARGE FOR THIS ADVICE
Stop using oil drain pans to drain oil into? Yeah sure thing bud 👍we are the ones riding the short bus? 😂
Great idea! Thank you!
Could you not just dump oil down the opening on the filter housing and then just make adjustments using a funnel?
Thanks again
I followed your video and use the Rotella and the Archoil. Good running so far about 4k miles. I finally met a great mechanic, Spanky and he is a diesel guru, He said he has been adding ATF to his fuel tank(s) for 15 years on his diesel trucks. I must admit since I started adding 1qt to every 30 gallons of diesel fuel, my truck had responded very positively, performance, quieter, smoother, faster acceleration. What is your opinion on this? According to my research the ATF has micro detergents that clean injectors and eliminating stiction. I look forward to hearing from you, and I love your choice of beer, lol
Which ATF did he use ? Thanks
@@redbeacon4871 I went to autozone and purchased a gallon, cheaper that way, I thing ATF is ATF and you might as well pay less than more. I have since bullet proofed the 6.0 a great investment as the 6.0 has somewhat of a bad rep. It was worth it, look into it if you have a 6.0.
Lost my 4 yrs ago man it come in go kill me some Tim win I go fish it like he there with me
Dude I need your help!! I took my truck for an oil change yesterday and everything is the same Motorcraft 10w-30 but this time I added a qt of ProLube but as soon as they pulled it out of the bay it runs like shit. I ordered some rev x that should be here today. It’s my daily and I’m tore up like a soup bean sammich. Please help
Great information, thanks man. My first diesel..
I know it’s bad, but in a pinch a Dorman oil filter cap is the same as a ford motercraft one
I know this is old video I have an 06 it idles perfectly but after driving about 8 minutes it just dies any ideas I’ve watched hundreds of videos
Use 10w not 15w. The reason. Is the lifters In the truck are the same lifters in a 5.7 liter hemi. Don't believe me, same part number. Would you put 15w in a 5.7 hemi? Ya didn't think so. Not to mention the turbo itself was not made for 15w oil, 15w oil is like tractor to bulldozer oil. A 6.0 is not a big engine especially when you got parts in it off a 5.7 hemi, it's 363 cubic inch when a 5.7 hemi is a 351. 😮 use your head when you work on 6.0 diesels
Would adding that archoil possibly fix a faulty injection
Yes
If it's stiction related then yes, if it's a mechanical or electronic issue then no.
DId you mention why you remove the oil filter before reinstalling the drain plug? If not it's because when the oil filter is removed, it opens a valve in the bottom of the oil filter housing, allowing the oil in the oil filter housing to drain into the oil pan. Otherwise, if the drain plug is reinstalled before removing the oil filter, then the 1 quart or so of old oil in the oil filter housing doesn't get removed.
Where do I get that koozie
I was so stupid for doing this I Could have Saved them for my gun Cuase it sounds cool But When Ever i Lost or broke my gun i would do somthing similar to this but instead its Like a Roll
Thank you for a clear and concise video. I just purchased a 2003 F350 4wd/dually/diesel I would like to know what to expect as far as frequency for oil changes and fuel filter changes. We will use truck for city/highway and eventually pulling a travel trailer, no off roading or boondocking. We live in Las Vegas FYI. Thank you, also do you do a video on changing glow plugs? Previous owner says it may need since it is a hard starter when cold, it does have a block heater, but we dont get below 30 degrees in Vegas, so not sure if block heater will help. I appreciate you response. Happy Thanksgiving!
Nice Rig
I've owned my 2006 King Ranch 6.0 daily driver since new. My wife asked me when the last time I cried was. I told her I don't remember, but if my truck wrecked, I just might and smiled. I've never had to change a fuel injector. My secrets? Blue spring upgrade for sure. Replace poor batteries PROMPTLY as low voltage and poor grounds murders the FICM. (thx toomanytoys @ youtube). On schedule regular oil changes bordering on religious devotion. However, the biggest thing I believe in is 1 quart of 2 stroke motor oil in the fuel every fill up. You can hear the injectors get very noticeably quieter with 2 stroke oil in the fuel. In many areas of the engine, the fuel is the lubricant. The new ultra-low-sulfur fuel just isn't as good as a lubricant as old diesel. A bit of 2-stroke makes all the difference.
What size lift kit is that? How do you like the aftermarket intake?
At 0:42 Finally someone that uses a Correct Size oil catch pan to do a oil change not one of those Cheap AutoZone 4 quart open mouth oil change pans that people use and have to dump out 3 times during the oil change and spill oil everywhere
Hahhha 😂 Thanks for watching! Lol
***IF YOU HAVE AN AFTERMARKET OIL FILTER CAP, DO NOT REUSE IT!*** it will say “do not reuse” on it.
Yep go get a true ford motorcraft oil cap oem from the dealer! They are different heights as well so the aftermarket ones don’t fit right or filter correctly Great comment thank you! 👍👍
Yep unless you remove that that bracket that holds the fica you are never going to get your hand in there somewhat
Always use full synthetic oil. I use Rotella T6. It is also a good idea to use a torque wrench and torque everything to specs when possible
So there was powder in the little thing that you put in the car gun
Tiny amount of gunpowder to make a pop sound with the cap guns lol When the cheap gun broke you slam it with a hammer lol 😆
We're you get the additive
You can order it on Amazon just look for archoil 👍👍 Thanks for watching!
Good job. Might carry a spare hot side charge air cooler turbo boot. That one on your turbo outlet now looks saturated with oil and they get soft over the years from the heat and oil then pop. 👍
Thanks for the tip! I’ll definitely replace that! Thank you for watching!! Appreciate it! 👍👍
@@mtnsavagenorthwest7409 I just started using Archoil myself after years of watching Bill Hewitt. That stuff works awesome!!
Just diggin for traction through the 1-2. That was pretty sweet.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Hell yeah!
Thank you, I'm new to the diesel world. Definitely want to change my own oil. You made it look easy 😂I'm sure it's not.
It’s really not bad!! And can save you a lot of money and piece of mind knowing it’s done right! Thanks for watching and commenting! 👍👍
My dad passed Christmas Eve 2022 and was a grandpa to 3 children. He was the best man I knew. I just wanted whoever reads this to know that…
Sorry for your loss Tachman 🥺 it’s never an easy thing to deal with but stay strong and uplift the beautiful legacy your family left you and keep that head high just like your dad would want you too for those kiddos 👍🙏🤘 Thanks for the comment and watching the video 🤘
