Reclaiming Our Own Time in an Anti-Rest System: Addressing Burnout for Medical Providers
“We want to reclaim our own time in large systems. How do you get to rest in an anti-rest system?”
Hadija Steen Mills, MPH (Healthcare Reparations), Ndidiamaka N. Koka, MD (Hennepin Healthcare), Nicole Winbush, MD (Sankofa Healing Arts), and Rachel Hardeman, PhD, MPH (Center for Antiracism Research for Health Equity) joined Nexus for an insightful panel discussion addressing the critical issue of post-COVID burnout. They explored the unique challenges health care providers face in today’s demanding medical environments and the urgent need for effective solutions.
----------------
We believe we must honor our healers by curating spaces where we can center rest and shared practices can emerge. Reclaiming Our Own Time (ROOT) is part of an ever-growing movement to provide resources, support, and spaces for rest and restoration for Black, Indigenous, and Persons of Color movement leaders. ROOT calls for us to reclaim our humanity and return to our ancestral roots through the practice of rest and restoration. In this space, we lift up our elders, healers, guides, mentors, artists, and community culture bearers who have been holding our communities through joy, grief, and passing ancestral practices intergenerationally.

Good information
Thank you for sharing your feedback! NCEI is happy to hear that this video is useful for you.
Good and authentic information that can be used right away. Remember Mr. and Mrs. Tiger Jack's-the only business that remains today, after the destruction of the Rondo neighborhood destroyed for the benefit of I-94. On the corner of Dale and St. Anthony in St. Paul, MN.
Thank you for sharing your feedback and taking the time to remember Rondo's history!
Thank you so much for this educational video. Yes I was one that could not get on zoom. This is a blessing
The Open Road Fund apologizes for the miscommunication issues leading up to the event and are glad you were able to receive this information. Thanks for sharing your feedback!
Thank you for uploading the zoom. I didn't receive any email regarding the call so I definitely appreciate it. This was a great financial refresher. There are tons of people that can benefit from this video as well as the organization. One thing I wish our community would speak more on is nuclear families. Our people pride themselves to get their own, and be on their own so much. There is nothing wrong with it as it is the true American dream. I do think our people would benefit by modeling the immigrants that come in this country and work together towards success. I see alot of them move in together, eat together, split bills, and even vacation. I think it's sad that we are unable to do this and that most people frown upon it. Yet people don't realize this model can create true wealth also stronger families. Again thanks for the upload! Looking forward to the next one.
Thank you for sharing your feedback and thoughts! The Open Road Fund apologizes for the miscommunication issues leading up to the event and are glad you were able to receive this information. Stay tuned for the next session on March 27 about Economic Ownership and Power.
This was a very helpful information session! But I have one quick question, I understand the algorithm will be randomly selecting the 100 recipients, and they will be notified by email, but will the other applicants receive any notification telling them they were not selected, or will they simply realize they weren't selected because they were not contacted at all? In addition to that, what exactly is the timeline for notifying individuals of either their selection or non-selection in the program?
Hello! Apologies I am just seeing your comment now. All applicants for Open Road Fund 2023 will be contacted about the status of their application by the end of September 2023. Applicants selected for the Open Road Fund grant will be invited to apply for phase two of the program. If you have additional questions, please contact ORFSupport@nexuscp.org. Thank you!
Hi
Im hoping this is will help my family. I made sure to send this link to my family members as this could be a great opportunity.
Much Thanks
If I applied individually, Do I have to go through the whole application process to apply as a team?
Hello! You can only apply once per year. The application is the same for individuals and teams. There is a step in the application where you choose which way you are applying as, either as an individual or as a team. If you have additional questions, please contact ORFSupport@nexuscp.org or call 612-886-3449.
