Thank you. Their authority comes from their members who sadly are unaware of the incremental loss of respect and autonomy of their own profession. Fortunately, alternative organizations are available that have the best interests of patients and physicians in mind. Once ABIM loses their monopoly financially, only then will they realize the path they have taken. It's time that we stand for the truth and withdrawal support for ABIM policy. This is not "birth certificate" it is "per certificate" you can't understand him because it sounds like he has gauze in his mouth. Probably a factor of speaking to something that makes him look like an evil man attempting to steal additional money from physicians who are often deeply in debt in order to pad his own very wealthy organization and to pay himself millions. Richard Baron is one of the most detestable individuals in all of medicine.

Phak all boards! You'll never beat them this way. All we have to do is just come together and "Just Say NO!" If no doctor takes the MOC the MOC goes away. Look at the money they need to run. Simply starve them out! Stop paying for their products. They can't stop ALL doctors from practicing!

Where we stand is, we now have new boards: Sleep medicine, and hospitalist medicine, just to name the ones off the top of my head. All we have to do is just pass a law to make board entities a mandatory non-profit organizations that cannot maintain a positive balance beyond the minimum needed to run the facility. In fact, the leadership board must be made up of voluntary members. We will never be able to break the ABMS choke hold over physicians until we are able to compete with the lobbying power of insurance companies who are the driving force behind all this. On the other hand the solution is for all of us to get together and go on "vacation" at the same time until further notice! Let them come to us begging that we return to work and then of course we can create a yearly activity of maintenance of certification for them. How about that?

The ABIM only cares about money. The practice of medicine is under assault from all sides and they have done NOTHING to defend the physicians in the clinics and hospitals actually delivering the care. They see us as a cash crop of docile cows and have much less less respect for us.

MOC is a complete waste of my time and has absolutely no value whatsoever other than to get that piece of paper necessary to keep my job. While, as a humble working doc, it takes me 10 years to earn the equivalent of the CEO of ABIM in one year. Instead of making me a "better" doctor, MOC only makes me a bitter" doctor...

Thanks for the work you are doing exposing the greedy and shady activities of ABIM regarding MOC.

Such a shame, when a small group of self-appointed elites determine that they can take advantage of those who have sacrificed so much and and struggling just to provide basic care under the increasingly oppressive legislative burden imposed by the US Govt. I remember receiving initial literature from my board stating that they were about to start MOC activities, as a response to "public demand." I've never had a single patient in over 17,000 who have ever inquired about my board certification status. It's hard to accept that the "Board" which has been held in such high esteem for decades has stooped to deception to line their pockets, and when called out on it, persist in the fiction that it's for our own good.

In behalf of patients and physicians, all legislators and the judiciary need to promote relevant continuing education, clinical research, high quality medical care, and REAL professional development which occurs OUTSIDE of any and all ABMS and ABIM trademarked, unaccountable, and costly MOC programs.

When I was a child, there was a man on Wilmette Ave between Prarie Ave and Park Ave who kept chickens (he was also our crossing-guard for us kids on our way to ogan Elementary School (now McKenzie School). My best friend Marianne and I would walk through the alley behind Wilmette Ave just to see the chickens in this man's back yard on our way to get Cokes or some other pop from a vending machine at a store across from the Library. I loved seeing the chickens!

The Department of Justice ruled that ABIM cannot have monopoly on board certification. Join the National Board of Physicians and Surgeons as certification body and make your hospital and insurance company aware of the Department of Justice Ruling regarding the ABIM. They are backing off of MOC because of the NBPAS and so many angry doctors who are tired of being exploited. Thank You Dr Fisher for creating some skepticism of this faux olive leaf designed to try to keep doctors in the ABIM fold.

Why does this have no comments? This is absolutely beautiful and needs to be shared. It came up as an AD, and I have no idea why I haven't seen this before. Absolutely brilliant, Kevin must feel so honored and adored and lucky to have this, may he be at peace.

I love the idea of raising chickens! I used to get them fresh while vacationing in Mexico and the taste is wonderful!! I grew up in Glenview and support the idea; we had a large enough property to have chickens, but didn't. Having seen this vid, I wish we had! Good luck to all of you.
