more tutorials plzzzzz your explaintion is so good
Amazing, Thank You!
Subs thanks for this tutorial
FreeCAD has one of the most poorly thought out UI design of any CAD I have ever used. It is largely incoherent.
Amazing tutorial! May I ask something? The last part, where you fillet the 2d rectangle ended up with a "squared face". Your original doesnt have it. Is it ok? I ran into the same problem into another design!
hey thanks man, this really helped me with 3d printing thanks i wont forget you you made my daghuter happy thanks agin ;D
Very helpful tutorial! Thanks
Thanks for posting this video.
tbh I can live with the 0.01 tolerance. But very nice to include an alternative method instead of a fillet
Thank you again for another great video! There must be a difference between my version 0.21.2 running on Linux (POP OS) and your version: The last part for making the rectangle with the 20 mm fillet was over-constrained when I did what you did, and I never figured out why. As you said, there are other ways to do the same thing, which I did by making the rectangle with the fillet floating away from the part, and as a last step made the corner of the rectangle concurrent with a point on the solid. I don't see why that is really any different from what you did, but I did not get any over-constraint issues. Anyway, I succeeded in duplicating the Lesson 2 part. Thank you.
first time trying out a CAD program , thanks for the tutorial :)
Great videos!! Thank you! But can someone explain why the fillet at the end did not throw an error when the fillet meets the edge of the circle? This seems to happen in other cases, I know freeCAD doesn't like when fillet lines touch other lines. I made this part on my own first before watching the video and the way I went about it ran into this error.
Learning a lot!!! Thank you!!
Thank you for the great video! I am having some difficulty duplicating the step 10:00 minutes into the video; selecting the vertical constraint between the center of the circle and the point on the edge on the projected line. After selecting the two points, I try entering 20.0 mm (or even some smaller value) and get an error message: "<class 'ValueError'>: Datum 20.00 mm for the constraint for index 3 is invalid." ....... I don't understand the previous error, but I finally found a way around it by removing all previous constraints to the circle, then 1. setting the horizontal constraint (not vertical?) first, 2. Setting the center-point of circle to the projected line second, and 3. setting the diameter of the circle last. ..... Still it would be nice to know what was wrong with setting the distance from the center-point to the edge last.
Excellent tutorial - clear, concise step by step. Love it.
This is the best FreeCAD tutorial on UA-cam. 🎉🎉🎉
This entire series is amazing, and has helped me a lot understanding better the way of 3D modeling in FreeCAD. Keep them coming!!! 👍
I have learned more in these tutorials than all the other combined. Thank you so much for these. Sad to only see the 4. Cheers. 🍻
This was a great tutorial, thank you very much
Hello, Im stuck on this step ua-cam.com/video/VZ16lty5ADg/v-deo.html when Im trying to add that 40mm. Nothing changes. File "<string>", line 1, in <module> <class 'ValueError'>: Datum 40,00 mm for the constraint with index 23 is invalid App.getDocument('Unnamed').getObject('Sketch001').setDatum(23,App.Units.Quantity('40.000000 mm'))
Jeff, you are a legend. Thank you! I normally muddle my way through new software but FreeCAD has a steeper than average learning curve. This 16min intro had everything I needed to get my part drawn but regardless I will be working my way through all your FreeCAD tutorial videos!
I have to tell you this. I've been trying all day to draw an object in OnShape and then FreeCad and FINALLY got it done (using FreeCad) after watching this video. Even saved it as a STL file so I can print it on my Elegoo Neptune 4 Pro!!! Thank you so much, you made it so simple! LOL...I'm also 73yr old!
I followed everything you said in the video up until selecting the select polyline tool. I cannot draw any lines, it just changes the orientation of the planes. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. FreeCad seems way more complicated to start designing a part than Inventor or SolidWorks. Am I missing something? I'm using version 0.21.2
Try as I have and I have followed your demo exactly (obviously not!) I cannot get the second coincident to work to fix the last part of the rectangle, I just get error message and it all turns red. What am I doing or not doing?
many many thanks It is really amazing
Hi just some feedback: While I appreciate you taking the time to make this tutorial, It's very hard to see any text as you've recorded this on an ultrawide monitor. A 16:9 video will be far more helpful, so absolute beginners with standard 16:9 monitors can actually see whats going on. I had to stop watching as I was getting eye strain.
just downloaded 21 not the same as this tutorial. Not helpful
by far the best Freecad tutorial - concise and to the point - thanks
Great job teaching! ( Can't download grabcad link anymore. "Forbidden!" First two went well..!)
This is by far the best FreeCAD tutorial I have watched. Clear and concise and covers all the important stuff in minimal time.
On the last sketch instead of the rectangle use poly line to make the bottom and side then 10 mm of the top line then M 3 times to radius and complete the sketch. Then constrain the arc to 20mm and the other constraints. Then no issues like with the fillet to 20mm.
Clear and to the point. Nice tutorial.
For myself, having a history of working with AutoCAD, I found your approach to #D Modeling a lot easier todo and makes more since.
Thanks for the step by step, very helpful.
thanks! great tutorial
Thanks, it's a very usefull tutorial.
anyone know where this guy went? WE NEED MOOOOAAAAARRRRR
❤ excellent
These videos have been very welcome. As many others have experienced, I've watched a heap of UA-cam tutorials on Freecad but these are crisp, concise, well delivered and above all open up FreeCad in a practical manner. Thank you very much and please keep them coming.
Jeff I’m learning so much off ur videos but I can’t move the part around like u can. Any ideas y
Like how urs mouse is a hand. Mine isn’t. I can’t grab and it’s frustrating me.
Jeff I need more. Following along with your videos while learning to use Ondsel ES which operates off of FreeCAD and you make this so easy to understand. We need more Jeff.
Hello fellow Joe blow 🤣
The best way of explanation highly simplified
Thanks you really helped me out
Thank you.
How can I sign in to FreeCad if they do not accept my username or passwood. Being retired, I would like to start 3d printing along with FreeCad. Is there some one I can talk to or something I have to do to get into FreeCad before I get too old to care ??
Thank you very much. Your explanation was very informative and complete. It solved my problem.
Have a like and a comment. All hail the algorithm. SuperfastMatt.
that's a nice tutorial!
I'm starting to get it, but god I miss AutoCad
Bravo!
